Best service we've had during our stay in Charleston! Myles
Best service we've had during our stay in Charleston! Myles was incredibly polite, informative and speedy during our gals brunch on Saturday morning. We will definitely be back anytime we come through Charleston for another girls weekend in the future. The French toast and biscuits and gravy was to die for! Thank you so much Myles!

The place is large, with a lot of different seating areas, both indoor and out. Outdoor seating had numerous heaters and looked comfortable. Inside, our server was friendly but very busy handling at least six tables. We waited 30 min for our order, multiple starters, no entrees. The crabcake was OK, not great, and was salty. The tomato pie was overwhelmed by the cheese, which detracted from the very good tomatoes. The She crab soup was excellent and lived up to its reputation. Another starter was good, not great. With all the other great dining choices in Charleston we probably won't go back.

Highly disappointed in this meal particularly for the price we paid. Honestly, even if we had paid half the amount that we did, we would have been disappointed and would not return. The good: lovely restaurant and atmosphere and excellent service and hospitality. The back courtyard (although we did not eat there was lovely. We had an excellent cocktail: the berry mojito was refreshing and tasty. Unfortunately, one comes to a restaurant for the food, and this is where 82 Queen fails. First bite of everything was positive and hopeful...but after about 3 bites we both realized that most of the flavor was salt, and by the 4th and 5th bite all we could taste was salt. One dimensional and not in a good way. My husband ordered the she crab soup and the jumbalaya. He said ( in addition to the saltiness) that they both had the same flavor - as if it had come from powder in a packet. The jambalaya was dry. I ordered the braised beef, which had potential. Lovely presentation and the soft texture of the meat was on point. However, there was not enough sauce to balance the meat, which was dry on the inside--and that sauce was too salty in any case! The mashed potatoes were bland. Only the haricots verts I fully enjoyed. Crisp, light and flavorful. Overall, not recommended, except for an afternoon cocktail. To splurge on a highly rated and reviewed restaurant where entrees are over $40 and finding the food this bad was the low point of our Charleston trip.l

Beware they have a horrid second floor which makes their on line marketing a bait and switch. Terrible! The manager actually said that "next time" I should ask to be seated elsewhere if I want ambience. While the first floor and patio ooze with charm we had a cafeteria table and cheap chairs, zero art or interior design, and a view of trash cans to the left and rooftop AC to the right. To top it off the food was OK not great, the famed soup was gummy with too much flour in the roux. Nothing special, no charm and I regret the experience. It was our last night in Charleston and the worst place we've ever dined here.

be aware that the pictures which make this place look great fail to include the second floor seating which is like a cafeteria- awful! Our "view" included a rooftop AC unit on one side, trash cans on the other and there was no ambience. Ugly tables and chairs, no art, no fabrics, no charm whatsoever. The manager came to tell us that "next time" we should ask for first floor or garden seating. She was embarrassed when I pulled up the web site images and asked if this was a bait and switch. Plus, the supposedly award winning she crab soup was gummy, with too much flour in the roux. Incredibly disappointed and frankly mad at the fact we wasted time and money when there are other excellent restaurant choices.

We reserved a table on Sunday for 2 in the courtyard for brunch. We ordered the chicken livers, the she crab soup, and the softshell crab special to share. The soup was a rich and creamy delight. No wonder it is what they are known for. The base was velvety smooth, with a pronounced crab flavor that was both comforting and indulgent. The addition of sherry gave it a subtle depth of flavor and the generous amount of lump crab meat added a nice contrast in texture. Our favorite dish was the fried chicken livers. They were cooked perfectly and melted in your mouth. It's not often we see livers on a menu and even more rare when they are done right. Whether you're a seafood lover or just looking to try something new, these dishes are definitely worth a taste!

Not sure what I can say that hasn't already been said about this esteemed restaurant. The food is always phenomenal and it's in a lovely part of the French quarter. We sat in their lovely courtyard on a sunny Sunday for brunch, our waiter was exemplary and personable, the drinks were on point and every bite was amazing. The softie was fantastic but the fried chicken livers and grits blew me away, I still think about them. There's a reason why they are award winning and it's well deserved.

We were told that this was one of the best restaurants in all of Charleston. I wasn't overly impressed to be honest. At this price point, the service was average as was the food. The she crab soup was supposed to be the best in the city, but I've had much better. Revival's soup is much better. I would recommend that restaurant compared to 82.
Be the first to ReplyFood was good and service were great.
It was a bit pricey for lunch. Lunch was $90 total with two drinks and food shown but again all was good!
Be the first to ReplyFood was ok quiet bland.
The best thing was the she crab soup per my husband. Fried green tomatoes were ok nothing to write home about. The jambalaya was good but not great and the vegetable sides were blah. No bread service the drinks were good and we will see about dessert.

This restaurant provides different rooms to Dining. The food was good and the service was even better.

When it comes to restaurants, 82 Queen clearly lived up to its long, excellent reputation of great food and fantastic service. We choose 2 tasty dishes: the bbq shrimp & grits and the Crispy Roasted Duck in a raspberry reduction. All of the staff was very pleasant, but our server, Caroline was absolutely outstanding, extremely efficient and really went out her way to make sure 2 school teachers were well taken care of. From the ambiance, food quality and great service, it's no wonder you reservations fill up fast - enjoy.

We loved sitting out on the patio, the ambiance was pleasant and the garden was beautifully decorated. Service started out quickly, however, as soon as another table was seated our waitress forgot about us and it took 10-15 minutes to bus our table.I loved the jambalaya and my sister said her fried green tomato sandwich was delicious (not pictured). Unfortunately, I do not understand the hype over the she crab soup. The heavy pour of sherry on top made this very acidic and unpleasant. I could taste the crab but did not find any pieces. The texture was almost like separated cheese since I couldn't combine the sherry with the creamy soup no matter how much I stirred it together.I'll be back for the jambalaya! But I'd pass on the soup and the slow service.

Our reservation was scheduled for an indoor table, but we were seated outside. I ordered both the She crab soup and the crab cake both were good, but the side of red rice was oddly starchy and cold. The second side of corn succotash was quickly blanched with no seasoning served cold. Personally, I enjoyed the She Crab Soup and a more flavorful meal at Amen. Amen's soup tasted freshly made, well seasoned and wasn't congealed.
Be the first to ReplyAwesome southern/low country food experience! The ambiance
Awesome southern/low country food experience! The ambiance and service were wonderful. Sat in a quant upstairs dining area. We took a Yelp recommendation and started with the Tomato Pie which is a cheesy concoction over fresh tomato slices. Very delicious! Pork chop was great and the jambalaya was outstanding. The Yelp photos make it look like a small portion, but the dinner size was impressive as was the plentiful ingredients. Just the right amount of seasoning warmth! Bread pudding was not real moist but the pecan pie was a hit!
Be the first to ReplyI wish I could give this place more than 5 stars.
My favorite dining experience while I was in Charleston. We asked our concierge the best restaurant for a local to go to and he suggested 82 Queen. He absolutely nailed it. Service was impeccable, ambiance was unique and inviting, and everything we ate was out-of-this-world amazing. I only wish we were able to visit twice!82 Queen will be my first stop next time I'm back in Charleston and I will be dreaming about the Southern Tomato Pie until that day comes!

The food was amazing! We got the crab cake appetizer, and for our entrees we got the crispy roasted duck and braised beef short rib. Everything was cooked to perfection and the service was on-point!
Be the first to ReplyThe place is good.
You have to book in advance to get a courtyard table even for a Monday dinner. Some recommended dishes by others are overrated, including the Queens Salad, which is nothing special, and the Jamalaya is just so so. The crab cake is good though.Queen's. One surprise is that you have to pay extra $$ if pay credit card, that is very ridiculous. They did not say anyting before ordering that the prices on the menu are for cash payment. I will not eat there again.
Be the first to ReplyService was incredible and the food was fantastic.
Best shrimp and grits in Charleston. The venue is beautiful as well. Located right in the market district.

Don't miss this place, reserve now! Best she crab soup around!!
Be the first to ReplyDO NOT RECOMMEND.
We ate here as a party of 8 on a bachelorette party. Our waiter could not have been more rude, despite how many how recommendations we had for this place. He was less than attentive, and was rude with every question asked. Do not remember his name, but he was shortish with a bald head. We had reservations before we got there, but that did not affect our waiters attitude. Also, the most raved about dish, the she-crab soup, was subpar. One of us ordered and cup, and one a bowl. BOTH soups served were broken. The broth was a liquid on top, and the soup on the bottom. The she-crab soup tasted like chicken and dumplings, but with crab. In my experience, that is not what she-crab soup tastes like. Our bills were almost $100 a piece and we left hungry and angry. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
Be the first to ReplyIn a nutshell: TOURIST TRAP.
Hotel concierge made a reservation for us here. We were seated somewhere upstairs and inside by a staircase with only one other party seated. It was too cold from the AC and felt really sleepy and forgotten with soft jazz piping in. Not sure why they didn't seat us outside at a 4-top near other people; I could see open ones from the window that were there til I left. Drinks were ok. I make better sangria with frozen fruit at home; also had too much ice so it was quickly watery. Appetizers were also "meh". Very plain looking house salad and fried green tomatoes, both garnished with bulk bagged cheddar cheese. Tomato breading lacked seasoning, base of grits were also under seasoned and too thick for my taste (think sliceable), and I couldn't get into the sweet tomato jam. My entree of gumbo over golden rice was so bad I left after a few bites with our kids, who were already done, so I could eat back at our hotel. With the first bite I was hit by an unexpectedly sweet flavor and then highly salty rice. I've eaten a fair amount of gumbo since being a kid from excellent pots cooked by family for holidays and at New England lunch chains and various levels of quality and style in between (Louisiana, Carolina low country) and this is THE WORST I've ever tasted. Couldn't decide whether I was reminded more of barbecue sauce or cheap Chinese food. My husband's fish over grits was also mediocre at best. No complaints at all about the server who was attentive and immediately offered to take the gumbo off our bill and order me something else, which I politely declined. She suggested perhaps the kitchen had been using a sweetener of some kind to "balance the acid in the tomatoes," something I've always been annoyed by at inauthentic Italian restaurants using cheap ingredients and short cuts (slow cooking onions or carrots is traditional if tomatoes are a bit bracing, not sugar). Just an unforgivable lack of quality and finesse in the food, regardless of price, which of course reflected the mint location.

Very good food taste excellent and was fun they made it all right. Good experience we liked it
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful spot for dinner.
The country pickins app was right on the money. Few things I've never tried before and I was impressed to say the least. The drinks all came out tasting great. Also had gumbo for the first time and I must say that was probably the most authentic meal I had while visiting the city. Highly recommend this place.
Be the first to ReplyThis is a deceptively large restaurant.
When one walks down the narrow brick alley to the check-in stand, the venue opens up to a darling courtyard with seating outside. We were escorted up the stairs and through a few rooms before being brought to the green room. The Bloody Mary was good and served with pickled okra, and olive, and a lime. The mix of drink was excellent. The food appeared within a few minutes of being ordered. The crab cake was good, but the chicken and biscuits was amazing. Would come back just for the chicken and biscuit alone! The fried green tomatoes were ok. They were too sweet and benefitted greatly with the addition of hot sauce. Great brunch place!
