Pretentious Downer in the Otherwise Fun Stockyards
Yo would think a burger at a so-called upscale spot would be at least OK. No matter what you do, STAY AWAY FROM THE PIMENTO CHEESE. I can't prove it, but I swear it was like cheez wiz scooped on the burger with an undetectable whiff of pimento, maybe somewhere. If I had left it off, then the burger would have only been among the worst I have ever had. We told the waiter how terrible it was, but somehow I managed to eat the burger that had crumbled to bits. You would think he would offer to take iot off the bill. I suppose I could have said that, but I was too nice about the whole thing. To top it off, for laughs I checked out rooms for tonight. For a Titanium member, they quote $1118 for one night! Of course, that is before "fees" and taxes and who knows what else. We love the Stockyards but if I never see 97 West or the Drover again, it will be too soon.

Be the first to ReplyGood choice
Had a reservation and was seated immediately. Service was great. Our table ordered ribs, fish, and country fried steak. Everyone was pleased. Ordered sides for the table of brussel sprouts (didn’t love) and three cheese mac and cheese. The atmosphere was the perfect theming for the hotel. Lots of great choices in the area. This one is really nice if you want something more upscale than the local steakhouses and restaurants in the Stockyard area.
Be the first to ReplyGreat dining and atmosphere!
Very pleased with the dinner and ambience! Four of us dined and all dishes looked and tasted great. I had the smoked prime rib and may very well order it the next time. The fried oysters to start were tasty also!
Be the first to ReplyBest Dining in the Stockyards
Living in Fort Worth, I had been to Hotel Drover before for cocktails, but had never dined at the 97 West Restaurant. Two days after Christmas, a girlfriend treated me to lunch here and it was a fabulous experience. Our waiter was incredible and offered to let us taste two different Cabernet Sauvignons before choosing a glass each. I’m glad he did because the one we chose was perfection. We started with a fresh catch ceviche served with blue corn tortilla chips. My entrée was a Texas twist on a grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup. The sandwich featured short rib that almost melted in your mouth and a blend of two cheeses on a toasted sourdough. The soup was flavorful as well. It also came with my choice of fries or a small version of their side stand salad with candied pecans. I chose the latter with a sun-dried tomato dressing that obviously is made on the premises. My friend selected two tacos - one Mahi and one brisket - served with a lightly dressed cole slaw. In addition to the great service and wonderful wine and food, the upscale, western decor gave it a real Fort Worth Stockyards feel. Being decorated to the nines for Christmas was an added bonus. Unfortunately, we didn’t save room for dessert, which I’m sure would have been amazing. We’ll do that next time. Because there definitely will be a next time.

Overall: Wow. Beautiful and thoughtful country chic design, incredible food, and great service. Thank you to our server Josh for a wonderful and allergy safe experience.
Be the first to ReplySteak with some cowboy flair
For a fairly new restaurant, we were impressed at the service and the menu. We had the fried oysters to start, salad and two different types of steak. It was all very good. They do have room for some improvement, but it is clearly on the right track given some of the bad reviews early on. Our waiter and Sam did a great job of checking in on us. The decor was great. I would recommend to add a bit to the wine menu. Thanks for the evening!
Be the first to ReplyFood was Disappointing
The waitress was very nice. The food was not the best. We were disappointed as the Hotel Drover is the nicest hotel in Fort Worth.
Be the first to ReplyApplebees is better
Applebee's or Chili's level steak but at a Steakhouse price. Grisly and tough to cut. Hosts slow to respond to those in line. Were not accommodating. I believe this was my all time biggest disappointment of my expectations of a restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyGood choice for a nice supper.
We happened to be around there at supper time when visiting Stockyards so we decided to try. Restaurant is very comfortable and stylish. Menu had a lot of variety but we settled on splitting Redfish and then ordering two additional sides. (Mac and cheese and goat cheese grits). The redfish comes atop some white beans. Fish was delicious - cooked perfectly. The Three Cheese Mac & Cheese was also delicious. The goat cheese grits were not my favorite but only because it had the strong “twang” (for lack of a better word) of goat. My husband loves goat cheese and thought they were very good. Our server was great.
