Wonderful afternoon tea
We were gifted an afternoon tea and had an amazing time. Great selection of food and plenty of refills if you wanted it. However, what was really special was the outstanding service from the staff. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly and our waiter Dermot was an absolute dream and he really made our afternoon. I was also presented with a little birthday cake and candle. Highly recommended.

Afternoon tea at Savoy Hotel. Very beautiful and traditional place. Good organised, friendly staff. Rather expensive, but that’s what you know already at the booking. Unfortunately it was very loud and busy. No place for a relaxed afternoon, more a commercial thing. One hour is your time frame, after that you receive the bill and your table is needed for the next guests. The presented sandwiches, scones and patisserie is good quality but not extraordinary.
Be the first to ReplyPerfect - what else can you say !
Really stunning hotel, not only in the actual quality of the hotel interior, but also the beautiful displays of flowers around the hotel (plus in the actual restaurant). We are fortunately to have had afternoon tea in many of London's top hotels (call it a "hobby" !), and in overall terms The Savoy has to be the best of the traditional 5 star hotels. The service is outstanding, everyone we spoke to was friendly, helpful and professional ( Lana - our waitress was 110% perfect - thank you). Excellent selection of sandwiches, cakes and so on, with "refills" supplied on request. Beforehand, we had a drink in the American Bar (which is a place we have both long wanted to visit/experience). Iconic and stylish is the correct description. Everyone adds service now - at 15% this is getting to be quite a high "tip" For once, we felt it was totally deserved - especially as Lana confirmed it's goes in full to all the staff. When can we go back ?

The Savoy has a Savoy café on the Strand. Foolishly, we expected the quality of service to be worthy of the name - big mistake. My wife ordered a pot of tea and a pastry. the tea was OK but the "fresh" pastry was still frozen in the middle and the puff pastry was as hard as cardboard. She sent it back.

A refined afternoon tea in the Thames Foyer in the grand dame of London's luxury hotels. Some poorly dressed, very touristy crowd. That was different a few years ago. Even the very high prices no longer seem to have a deterrent effect. We sat on wonderfully comfortable armchairs and were served and looked after very politely by our waiter. The young man even managed to exchange a few nice words with us in the short time and with the large number of guests. You can still experience British politeness here. The quality of the food and the champagne (Laurent Perrier) is excellent. The sandwiches and the patisserie are wonderful. You sink into the cushions and listen to the young pianist... and forget the time. New guests have long been waiting. All in all, a lovely experience... at a hefty price

WOW, what a great experience. We went here for high tea and although it's a little more expensive, it's worth every pence. Incredible ambience, perfect service, beautiful dishes and the food (sandwiches, tarts and scones) heavenly. A wonderful experience. Thank you very much for 2 incredible hours.
Be the first to ReplyGood but not what is was
Had afternoon tea in Thames Foyer 4 or 5 times over the years and latest visit was just a bit different. Staff were really efficient, helpful and friendly. Food was definately not value for money. Sandwiches good but not excellent, savoury snacks not good at all. Cakes were ok and scones bland with minimal cream and rather unpleasant lemon custard. £80 each is the price I signed up to but then 15% service on top is too much. I prefer to choose a gratuity and do not like it added to my card. Probably won’t go back as was somewhat underwhelmed and have had far better experiences elsewhere in London

Exceptional service from Danny during afternoon tea. We were celebrating my son’s 2nd birthday and he went out of his way to make him smile and had all the staff singing and clapping to him. We really appreciated the attention to detail and plan to stay at the hotel soon asap a result of the great service.

Afternoon Tea at The Savoy has long been on my bucket list. My husband booked us in for my 50th birthday & the total experience far exceeded my expectations. Ned on arrival taking us to our table, telling us what to expect & the wonderful Manweala who looked after us so well throughout our sitting. There is much to admire - the room, the table setting with tables spread out nicely, the Wedgewood chinaware, the food, the washrooms, the pianist, all of the staff that we encountered. Completely top class. Manweala talked us through the menu & each of the sandwiches & cakes. All were exquisite, fresh, flavoursome & so beautifully elegant. To sit back, relax, indulge & take it all in was actually a bit emotional for me as was the beautiful birthday cake & card. If you are foodies like we are, this is an experience that I would thoroughly recommend & one that will stay with us for a long time. Thank you Thames Foyer, top class.

I booked Afternoon Tea for birthday celebrations for my Mum, daughter in law and my niece as they all had special birthdays. The whole day was magical from the ambiance to the staff, food and the whole experience. I had been before so in my booking I requested the same table which we were given , your tables are spaced out so you are not listening to the people on the next table like in some afternoon tea experience's. Antonia was our waitress and she was absolutely brilliant, she couldn't do enough for us, she explained everything from the teas to the champagne. My guests all received a lovely card thanking them for celebrating their birthday at the Savoy. The whole experience is amazing.
Be the first to ReplyLovely splurge
Our tea at the Savoy started with champagne and progressed to a selection of fabulous sandwiches from a vegetarian and vegan menu. The scones and pastries were even better. Our server, Sai, was wonderful. A special treat.

Lovely afternoon tea for a special celebration . The service by Dermott was excellent. Professional yet friendly and attentive, explaining all the options and offering advice when asked. Great table with plenty of space with the feeling of being in your own area. The birthday cake and candle was a lovely gesture and unexpected. Excellent range of teas but very surprised not to see any Lapsang souchong. The range of sandwiches was excellent, all fresh and also with a vegetarian and vegan option. The cakes were excellent and the carry home box when we were all very full was a kind gesture. We felt very well looked after, never felt rushed at anytime and the visit lived up to expectations. Thank you Savoy !

An afternoon tea experience I have been waiting for since I was a kid :) My mom was born in England and so I had a lot of afternoon tea experiences growing up. I always dreamed of experiencing it in London so I booked here on my visit. It was perfection. The scones were to die for and the service was exceptional! Highly recommend.

Went for an afternoon champagne tea with a friend. A little underwhelmed with the decor… the art works were great, but the room itself seemed bland and there was little intimacy. The sandwiches were delicious however and so were the cakes, but the whole experience was marred by our waiter calling us, two ladies of mature years, ‘girls’… we did ask him not to but he continued to do it! He muddled up our tea, pouring two cups of Earl Grey when one of us had ordered The Savoy afternoon tea (ie Indian tea)… his over friendliness and glib little jokes were just so inappropriate and out of place! It’s a shame as the tea and food were good but the atmosphere, decor and waiter service marred what was supposed to be a special occasion!
Be the first to ReplyAfternoon tea was delightful
Afternoon tea at the Savoy did not disappoint. Wonderful greeting by friendly staff, shown to our table and seated by the piano where the pianist was playing wonderful background tunes. We had traditional afternoon tea and added a glass of champagne. Sandwiches and savoury bites were delicious and if you wanted you could have more. A vast selection of teas to choose from, poured from silver teapots by our server Naomi. The cakes and scones were amazing to look at and tasted divine! Experience made extra special by the pianist playing happy birthday and an extra piece of cake bought out with candle!! Naomi our server was professional and friendly.
Be the first to ReplyBit nervous as it’s very posh but…..
So special and so welcoming, I booked an afternoon tea for my partner for Christmas and we ventured down to London . She was a big fan of the savoy tv program We were in fact a bit nervous as it’s a very posh place, we dressed smart but not silly smart if you get me. Walking in the receptionist was so nice and warm, remarking that my partners hair was beautiful, where did we come from and led us to a beautiful set up table , can’t remember our waiters name sorry but she came over and gave us a menus and explained how it works , big smile , very warm girl. The sandwiches and cakes where amazing, we chose Earl Gray tea and she kept topping us up with a smile , Absolutely wonderful place with amazing staff , didn’t feel out of place , there was a very very famous actress on the next table!! If you’re unsure don’t be , they are very welcoming and look after you, the savoy is stunning .

We came for afternoon tea. Of course, this is one of the more expensive places to do it in London (£80, £100 with a glass of champagne, for about £15 you can add a main course but we were full enough without it). There is no real dress code - people were dressed in all sorts from hoodies and trainers upwards, but folks were generally at the smarter end of casual. We also received very friendly and welcoming service. So its about as relaxed as it can be given how fancy the room is and that you are in the Savoy. You can order as many sandwiches as you like - they were good in fairness. There's a couple of savoury bites as well which add a bit of quality. The cakes were interesting and one or two more on the savoury tasting end actually, but there's a very chocolaty chocolate one too! A pianist is central to the room providing the background music and a bit of atmosphere.

We had a fully pre-paid voucher for afternoon tea, confirmed on entrance it had been paid for by presenting the voucher code to the host. Afternoon tea was lovely , my only complaint is that when we had finished and walked out into the foyer, I was then tapped on my shoulder by a waiter asking me if we had paid, we found this quite embarrassing as this could of appeared to other guests that we had tried to avoid payment. I think you should make sure the pre-paid voucher information is passed to the waiter/waitress who is serving you so to avoid any unnecessary embarrassment that we felt.

This was my second visit , enjoyed the first visit which is why l decided to visit with my husband ( visited with friends last time) . To say l was underwhelmed is an understatement… for £200 which included afternoon tea and a glass of champagne ( glass was only 1/3 filled ) l would class the food as distinctly average , the service was not great , the waiter was not attentive as l would have expected … my husband asked if he could swap one of the sandwiches as did not like the filling … waited a good 20-30 mins and it hadn’t arrived so had to ask again , l asked for a cushion … again had to ask twice after failing to bring one as promised ….. declined to pay the £30 service charge as was so disappointed with the whole experience …. Paid it on our initial visit even though it felt like a big added extra as the staff were attentive and felt like we were paying for the ‘ whole experience’ This ‘ treat’ was part of our wedding anniversary treat prior to flying off to New York the next day …. We felt it would start the holiday with a lovely treat… instead it made us regret having booked it in the first place as not a great experience ☹️
Be the first to ReplyAfternoon Tea, very poor
Attended Savoy as a guest for afternoon Tea. Very disappointing. In entry the foyer smelt of fish, very off putting. The meal itself, yea and coffee was weak, the sandwiches were tasteless and the cakes tasted stale and again flavourless. We were initially asked about allergies but no consideration given to other illnesses, had to ask for seedless jam and even when provided was advised it wasn’t 100% seedless The best thing about the whole food were the scones. You are paying for an experience not food and I have to say the whole thing was overpriced on both counts

Booked theTradional Afternoon tea for myself and my Wife. As soon as you hit the Hotel lobby you feel very special and the quality of the food and the attention paid to us by Eduardus and Heleen was exceptional.
Be the first to ReplyBirthday Celebrations Started Off with a Bang!
Happened upon The Thames Foyer at The Savoy through a web search and it could not have been a better choice to start out my mom's 70th birthday trip! We had told them ahead of time it was her birthday and they brought out a little dessert and sang, which was great. Our waiter, Timothy, was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions about what type of tea(s) we should order. We never felt rushed, so I am unsure as to the other reviewers experiences, but we felt very relaxed. The food...HOLY MOLY!! Everything was delicious!! From the sandwiches to the cakes to the mini quiche. And the best part? We were sat right next to the piano player and it was such a nice treat to hear him play. My mom felt like he was just there for her. Thank you Thames Foyer!!

Beautiful hotel but the restaurant is a bit of a thorough fare with people constantly walking through, or maybe that was just our table however, the food was really good and service beautiful. Although we could have done with longer. We were asked to leave our table after an hour and half and they boxed our cakes up as we hadn't finished. Really wanted another glass of champagne but we had no time.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful spot for a civilized breakfast
Great place for breakfast. Book a place overlooking the Thames for breakfast and it’s the most civilized and relaxing way to start the day. Charming and efficient service, delicious food - scrambled eggs perfect, excellent smoked salmon, great coffee, not too busy which we liked so great for a working breakfast, but would come back socially, also it’s probably the only affordable way for me to get to the Savoy!

My husband bought me this as part of my Christmas present. However both my husband and I were extremely disappointed. The staff paid us very little attention, the sandwiches were disappointing we only ate 2 scones and 4 out of the 8 cakes. We had to ask for fresh tea as they were topping up our cups with Luke warm tea. It felt very commercial and not a special treat. Definitely not value for money and would not recommend.
