Not quite five star service
We had a good meal in very nice surroundings, though, not as good as some other restaurants in Rovinj. When we arrived, we were seated on our own sofa, which was nice, but then asked to choose a drink from a very small selection of two cocktails or champagne/sparkling wine. I asked if there was a cocktail list, but got the impression that we were expected to choose from the limited menu. The cocktails we chose were fine and the presentation very dramatic (though they did cost €25 each). We chose the fish menu with wine pairings, which were all good. At one point, however, the wine waitress delivered our wines, but did not stay to tell us what we were drinking. Later on, the empty wine glasses from the previous course remained on the table, while the next course was served. These are minor points, perhaps, but not what would we would expect from a Michelin star restaurant. The food was generally interesting and delicious, and in particular the five amuse bouche offerings were a great start to the meal. I did not particularly care for the lemon risotto. The different selections of breads were all fantastic.

The setting was wonderful . The service was the correct level of friendliness mixed with knowledge and expertise. Accommodated my needs perfectly without fuss. Chose one of two menus yes the portions were small but we couldn’t of eaten another bite . Didn’t try and force expensive wines on us felt quite casual and easy going . Loved experience and the sunset was a bonus !
Be the first to ReplyDelicious from first until last bite!
This restaurant belongs to the Grand Park Hotel but is located in a separate building at beach level.Nice seating on a terrace with a beautiful view on Rovinj. We choose one of the 2 menues and with 7 dishes. We enjoyed a real 1 star Michelin quality from the 1st bite until the last dessert. Such constant high level is really remarkable .. and rare. Also excellent wine choice and professional service.

Agli Amici was part of 5 days hedo-visit to similar restaurants in Istria and Slovenia I wish I wrote this review day earlier before we visit another restaurant in Rovinj last night. I mean, everything here was correct. Service was excellent. They have story of the journey from Udine restaurant to retaurant here in Rovinj. If you ask me now 2 days after what was my favorite course during dinner, I cannot tell you, honestly, all was good but nothing memorable. Fish dish maybe was most complex one and it came in 2 parts. Portions are super small (but this is a common thing now) Some drawbacks are ig there is a bad weather since setee is in terrace there is not enough room inside to accommodate people if service is full. They do not have cat parking area (we park in garage near by and it cost us 19€) All in all, 465€ for 2 without alcohol beverage.
Be the first to ReplyGood service but too high prices
A beautiful place which makes you feel so good, good service though slightly an outdated tone of stiffness, good food though not great as the nearby over looking Cap Aureo. Cocktails where good and well presented. Weighing the price and experience would mostly opt elsewhere.

The food is great and ambient, but I have to say very arrogant and extremely unpleasant manager or whatever is in function

Fabulous! Definitely this restaurant worth the Michelin star! Staff and service very profissional! Food with marvelous flavor!

Rovinj is lucky to have so many amazing restaurants and Agli Amici is as good as any. The tasting menu and wine pairing was a treat from start to finish. My wife is a vegetarian and the menu created for her was also a real treat. With only 6 tables in the restaurant its a really intimate setting and having the cocktails made in front of you only adds to the occasion. I would throughly recommend visiting if you're lucky enough to be in Rovinj.
Be the first to ReplyAgli Amici in Rovinj is outstanding in every way. Probably the best meal we've ever had!
We splurged and dined at Agli Amici. Wow! what a breathtakingly indulgent experience. We opted for the mouthwatering Istrian Tasting Menu with wine pairing. Taking into account service, setting and gastronomy, this has to be one of our favourite restaurant experiences. Our cocktails were made table-side. I had a Martini with a delightful olive foam, while my partner tried the local fizz. Every morsel and crumb of every plate was sublimely, delicious and the service was the best we've ever had. Add in a stunning sunset over the Adriatic and a mesmerising view of Rovinj old town and the ecstasy ascends to heavenly. If you are a foodie you should check the photos. My pictures don't do the meal justice but every dish was a stunning work of art. The staff were the most attentive we've ever had and we've been to numerous Michelin-starred establishments. This is our new benchmark. This will be the meal to beat. My only recommendation for improvement is that you should be able to add the tip to your card. Unfortunately due to amount of cash on us and inability to put tip on card we weren't able to tip what we really feel the service deserved.

A wonderful restaurant with the most beautiful view of Rovinj. Everything was perfect, the food very tasty and special, as well as the wine carefully selected for each dish. The service was good, at the level of the restaurant and the setting. I recommend it if you want to spend a wonderful evening in Rovinj.
Be the first to ReplyExtraordinary!!
All excellent, from the aperitifs, to the main dishes, to the impeccable service, to the friendliness of the Master of the room. Highly recommended !!
Be the first to ReplyDo not believe the star!
It is unbelievable to me that this has 1 Michelin star. In my opinion it shouldn’t even have a recommendation. The service was awful, confusing and messy. The wines have poorly presented and didn’t match the food well enough. It felt like the priority was on how the food looked instead of how it tasted. My girlfriend requested a vegetarian menu and was serve a cheese plate as a main dish while the others had a proper dish. She was charged the same price for the menu until we complained. We gave extensive feedback at the end of the meal and their justification is that the team is new and only has been working there for 6 days. Personally I do not think this is acceptable given the price they charge. Do not go!!! There are better fine dining experiences in the area.
Be the first to ReplyNot good - avoid.
Do your bank account a favor and AVOID this place. This restaurant should not have a Michelin star. The service was terrible, not coordinated and just inconsiderate. We were four people at the table, two of which did not speak Croatian - some of the waiters were presenting the food/wine pairing in Croatian without any English explanation, even though they were aware of the fact that we were not locals. The food is nothing impressive, for example we got some gnocchi that was okay, but again, nothing to blow your mind. The wine pairing was horribly presented, no proper explanation of the wines. They even poured the last drops of the wine in one of our glasses (red desert wine) which resulted in the glass containing the sediment from the bottle. The last "wine" was actually an apple cider, which just tasted bad. The cocktails and the desert were good, but this should not be the best part of a Michelin star restaurant.

Chef Emanuele Scarello has created three tasting menus called Godia, Istria and Rovinj We chose the Istria menu although all three looked amazing! The Istrai menu had 5 courses although there were a number of other amuse bouche elements served between. All of the istria courses were superb. Amberjack with miso scapece, yoghurt and sea herbs. Zucchini flower bread crumbs & almond. Ravioli with scallop „saor“ and brown butter. Kanfanar lamb, fennel pollen, sheep ricotta and black truffle, Fruit and vegetables, tonka bean, white chocolate cream. The accompanying wine flight was well chosen and a perfect match for the food. The restaurant, close to the Grand Park Hotel, is perfectly located with views of the old Town and Marina. Very clever use of space with a seating area directly behind your table, perfect for relaxing before and after the meal. One negative aspect was that smoking is allowed here in the seating area and we were disappointed that an adjacent diner was smoking a cigar! Our table was in a fabulous spot looking out at the the stunning views of Rovinj. Service was excellent, attentive and professional. The food was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection and it was a pleasure to meet Chef Emanuele Scarello after our meal and to hear him talk so enthusiastically about the local produce he uses. It was a lovely way to end our wonderful dining experience at Agli Amici Rovinj!
Be the first to ReplyA fabulous dining experience
We had an amazing experience at this wonderful restaurant. What a difference 4 days and 2km makes from our previous not so nice Michelin star experience to this fabulous one. Beautiful setting, really attentive service - real sense of flow to the meal, several unexpected “surprises” amuse-bouches that were wonderful. We had the Istra menu and loved almost every course, the zucchini flower, the scallop ravioli, the lamb and the dessert were all wonderful. The wine pairings were wonderful and actually paired and complemented the food unlike our experience from a previous few days earlier. The dessert wine was so good we ended up visiting the vineyard and buying a bottle of it . All in all everything you would expect of a 5 star restaurant. So the nett of this is that if you are near Rovinj and looking for a Michelin star to visit - this is the one to go to
Be the first to ReplySimply outstanding…
Agli Amici So often we visit somewhere new with high expectations and are left disappointed… Well not this time! From the warmest welcome on a wet rainy afternoon, our experience at Agli Amici, Rovinj was truly exceptional. The restaurant only opened in September 2021 and gained a Michelin star within 45 days, and honestly we can see it achieving a second before too long. We regularly eat in high end restaurants in the UK and are lucky to have enjoyed food by Heston Blumenthal, Gordon Ramsey, Sat Bains, Marcus Wareing, Tom Kerridge to name just a few, and it’s such a treat to find a new venue with such extraordinary service and food that exceeds some of these luminaries of the industry, in our opinion anyway. There are three set menus to choose from and we went for ‘Istra’ which was delicious and all the dishes surprised and we highly recommend it. There’s also plenty of little extra treats, so you will left feeling very full! Thank you to all the amazing team, we will remember our experience, and we send Colette our best wishes for a full and quick recovery following her unfortunate accident last night.

What an experience! We had our anniversary dinner in Agli Amici and it exceeded all expectations. The whole experience was outstanding. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, and the food - paired with wine - was exceptional. Celery in dessert?! I can't believe how good it was. Do it, you won't regret it.
Be the first to ReplyExceptional experience
One of the all too rare fine-dining (Michelin) experiences that manages to surprise and delight in equal measure. As some of our party was not drinking, we were offered the opportunity to preview a non-alcoholic pairing with the tasting menu. Having tried alcohol-free drink pairings at other highly regarded restaurants across the world, we blown away by the quality of the pairings. Standouts included a ginger-beer on the rocks infused with fresh truffle, and a martini-glass cocktail with green tea foam patterned with a berry coulis, on a base of something smokey involving potato! Extremely highly recommended for special occasions, or simply for an unforgettable culinary splurge.
Be the first to Replygood but expected better
A very nice enterance and interesting start with the first amuses from kitchen while you have some bubbles in front. All is nicely designed and lot of staff to bring it all and that is very professional and perfectly done and explained and was good. Then you move to your table and we choose the godia tasting menu which has 5 slides cost is 150 euro per person. From scampi to boskarin a decent mix but somehow some of it was for me too salty or too sour so i must say expected a bit more from the food at that price. Service was realy top notch and the whole design and idea was using all is perfect. As a extra on top we took the local cheese selection which is not cheap another 20 euro. Good wine selection and local wine is not expensive had a perfect sauvignom blanc from radovan, istrua for 45 euro. Overall a very good dinner.
Be the first to ReplyGreat location
Good food, not wow, service and location being a level higher than the food. We expected slightly more, though one of the nicest spaces we visited.
Be the first to ReplyVery promising start
Very good food, the Michelin star, given to Agli Amici just 45 days after the opening is well deserved. Some dishes were excellent and show that there is more potential as just one star.
Excellent and very attentive service, knowledgeable sommelier.
Good but not great
A nice rounded experience, though I would have expected slightly a more rounded and less out of it.
Food was good, though not great as one would expect and as it is at the less flattering Cap Aureo, where their food is just fenomenal and unique, in my humble, yet well rounded experience. It seems that Agli Amici are trying too hard to please, where in 2021 this is slightly outdated, having the liquid nitrogen cream is something from the past and doesn't comply with the TOO sophisticated servers approach.
Would I go back? Might do, though not on my priority bucket list.
Coffee and cakes
Had a lovely afternoon coffe with my family. The atmosphere was outstanding and the view from the terace is beautiful - the whole city at the palm of your hand. We had a chocolate cake with rasberrys that was delicious. The staff deserve high praise. All in all, a great place.
