Angus Barn Raleigh Reviews
I chose this place to celebrate my friends birthday.
I wanted to see what's so extravagant about this place. First time here, and my experience here was superb. Although we had reservations in advance, it was quite still very busy. We waited for a bout 10 minutes and got called to be seated. Everything we ordered was delicious. I had ordered the blackend tuna with a side of french onion soup and green beans. We ordered so much food, and not all were shown here. We had asked for to go containers since we couldn't finish it. The server we had was very kind she had boxed our food for us. The restaurant itself is astonishing from excellent service from servers, detectable dishes, and enchanting decor.

My wife and I there for our 52nd Anniversary dinner and was pleasantly surprised. To begin with the barn style atmosphere with antique implements adorning that walls was over the top. Seated in a quiet corner our waitress Anna was professional, courteous, attentive and could not have made our experience any better. The food was top shelf and cooked to absolute perfection. This is definitely a place to return to. Thank you Anna and Angus Barn for making our night special.
This place is wonderful.
The cheese and crackers waiting at our table were just what we needed after a long day of travel. Our server, Molly, was so helpful and friendly. The food was delicious and the ambiance cozy. We were there on Mother's Day and they were busy but no one seemed frantic or stressed. We hope to go back next time we're in the area!!
Amazing is all I can say.
The building is amazing, the service is amazing and the food was fantastic!!!! I can't wait to go again next time I'm in NC.
The food was bland and overpriced.
We ordered steak it was under seasoned and over cooked . Service and ambiance was great

I brought a friend from out of state and I hadn't been there in a while.. the ambiance was wonderful, I thought the service was fantastic! Our server was amazing and very helpful! The food was not up to the standards they are charging. My prime rib was so tough I couldn't cut it with the knife they gave me. There was no seasoning on the steaks, and the side of expensive mushrooms. The Cesar salad was very very fishy, and ultimately I was disappointed in the food. The dessert tray should be replaced with fresher products. Honestly, the amount of people they move through there is amazing! And no doubt a feat in and of itself, just need to take a look at the food going out and make sure it's up to the beautiful standards of this amazing location.
Amazing food.
Has a fantastic atmosphere. Couldn't believe how big it was. The steak was great. The service was also wonderful.
While up here for work the wife decided to visit so I
While up here for work the wife decided to visit so I decided we should go somewhere to celebrate. It was last minute and we didn't have reservations (which can be made online). Upon arriving we checked in and were told it would be about 10 minutes. We grabbed drinks from the outside bar and before we were finished we were called. The building is quite nice. Very old school with lots of things to look at. We were taken upstairs and seated near the upstairs bar. Took a while for our drink orders but given how busy they stay it seemed to us that it took all the servers a bit to make their rounds. We started with the crab dip as you can see we just dove in. Didn't even think to get a before picture. It was incredible. Best crab dip we've ever had. Majorly addicting to the point where we got kinda full. My wife had the filet and shrimp combo with mashed potatoes. I went with the 14oz prime rib, stuffed potatoes and we shared the creamed spinach. Everything was excellent. I was expecting something along the lines of a good home cooked meal but we were blown away with just how good everything truly was. We were so full we couldn't even begin to think about dessert. Next time I'm here for work we'll be back that's for sure. 10/10
It is an experience not to be missed.
The portions are huge as well as delicious. The outside bar and the upstairs dining are amazing. The service was great too.
Unique ambiance and decor.
Something for everyone. I've only been here for work but would consider going for an evening dinner.
True temp
Best cooked steak anywhere! Never second guess the temperature what you ask for is exactly what you get! Excellent service
Best place ever

The Angus Barn has very nice grounds outside if you want to
The Angus Barn has very nice grounds outside if you want to walk around take pictures and look at some cool things- there is even an old time kicking machine! Our waiter Mark was friendly and helpful. I ordered the prime rib really rare- it came out rare (probably the rarest cut they had. The dipping sauce (mayonnaise and horseradish) and the au jus were tasty, the mashed potatoes were creamy. We were there for two birthdays and Mark brought out a pound cake - which we took home because our group ordered dessert. (I didn't have any but they looked good) We asked for to go boxes (Mark) packages them up) except for when I wanted to take the leftover pickles and olives he handed me a box? (I didn't feel great about that- was I not supposed to take them? I believe they would just throw them out)

Best ambiance and all occasions place to dine for family,
Best ambiance and all occasions place to dine for family, friends, dates or whatever the occasion. Service always on point.
Attended a Maker's Mark Whisky Dinner tonight .
. AB#4 is a delight! The food as always was lovely, the cocktails generous. I have food allergies/intolerance and my spouse also has an issue with some ingredients. They did a fantastic job and we both ate safely (I have Celiac) which is sometimes at other places hit or miss. AB has never missed. There were a few things that could be improved and yes I gave them feedback as well ... Menu changes were needed to meet my dietary needs, but instead of giving me something they just left it off my plate . . so no roll, no starch with main course, dessert was half of what others were served. And for a specialty dinner in the Wine Cellar . . Well it is pricey. Was I well fed? Yes, Was I feeling a bit like a problem child? Yes, as sometimes my plate came out after the full 30ish other people were given their plates. And since it was a Whiskey dinner a bit of a roll or something would have been nice. Dessert course had everyone getting a special boozy drink but nothing for me. Will I sign up for another specialty dinner? Yep because no one does it better than Angus Barn, but they could do a bit better for the special dietary folks!
An absolute favorite for the family and I! The best
An absolute favorite for the family and I! The best service, food and ambiance. Christmas time at the Barn is out of this world!
Family really loves this restaurant, especially the
Family really loves this restaurant, especially the Chateaubriand, which is my mother's favorite item on the menu. Definitely a unique dining experience in terms of tables, seating, and overall ambiance. Highly recommend making reservations in advance or be prepared to wait, especially if you go on the weekend.
Never had we ever had had rude server and sub par dinners at Angus Barnand terrible food until today, Sunday.
Rushed by rude male waiter Sunday 10, 2024 as 4 of us attempted to celebrate like every time we've visited AB. We've ordered their excellent blackened prime rib for years. We drive 2 hrs to celebrate. Waiter rapidly & snappily took our order for 3 blackened prime rib dinners & one filet mignon while we were browsing menu. When we get our dinners all 3 were cold, not seasoned or blackened. Concerned at his attitude 1 of us chose not to return rib. Two of us chose to return our plates with cold prime rib to be done right, blackened. Finally we get our seasoned 2 prime ribs, blackened but oversalted. We thanked waiter & extremely nice tip. Our reservations were at 4. There were few clients in our area. We were only table occupied. BA has always been superior in every sense of the word. Our drinks were excellent. He did offer desserts for only 3 of us.I did mention to server that he had rushed us. We were celebrating birthdays. Last time we were AB was a month ago again celebrating birthdays and had excellent blackened prime rib, bar none, until last Sunday. Always such superior service with every inch of AB. Not last night. We travelled from out of town. Hope it was not due to racism. Sara
My first visit to the Angus Barn was back in 1997.
It was for a work function and was the first time I had a meal or steak quite like it. It was oooozing with a blue cheese butter, button mushrooms and creamed spinach. To die for! It was one of the best steaks I had ever eaten. I probably had eaten at this restaurant 4-5 times in the 90's mind you but it left a lasting impression! Fast forward to last night, we were in town for an event and I splurged on dinner with my family as we were celebrating my husband's birthday. The restaurant itself had not changed much and the waitstaff were absolutely amazing!!!! However... the food was average. Gone were my memories of years past. I thought my husband after eating here would take his clients to the AB when he's in town, but for the price???? There was NO flavor in the steaks, my son and I got a trio and the filet.... This was the first time I've ever put steak sauce on a filet! My husband got a T-bone, a little flavor, but again Texas road house quality not Delfrisco's by any stretch. The seafood was way over cooked, very dry, and the "lobster was half a tail and served on the same skewer as the 4 the 4 shrimp. I was so disappointed and had hyped up going to this restaurant with my family. A very expensive lesson learned and one and done.
$$$$ Should be four dollar signs.
The steaks were not great to live up to the name. I'd give this place 5 stars for the ambiance and service was good but the food wasn't 4 stars and the martinis and cocktails were awful. Sides are small for the price. The tour was really neat and atmosphere of different seating areas is next to none but if you're looking for the best steak you've ever had I feel you'll be disappointed so will your credit card.
Our favorite restaurant.
Wonderful food and fabulous service. So beautiful at Christmas
Mixed Server was excellent, french onion soup- eh ok,
Mixed Server was excellent, french onion soup- eh ok, my wife had appetizer crab cakes, she loved them, i had Filet- tasteless, Mac and Cheese dry. I never order Filet, i took a chance, never again.
Great experience
This is a great restaurant. From check in with the lovely hostesses to our fantastic server MOLLY and our lovely host who gave a wonderful informative tour of the wine cellar , to the superb steaks our experience was excellent. Highly recommend for a special occasion. On the way out we stopped to get ground beef from their store. Had it once before and couldnt wait to go back to purchase it again. Suffice to say I love Angus Barn
What a place
Fantastic place. So special. So unique. So unforgettable. Great food. The tomahawk was awsesome. Warm and hospitable people. Arnie, the owner that I had the luck to meet, the lady who waited our table, everyone, they were all so nice. And the ambiance and decoration are just incredible. Incredible experience!
64 years and still the best ! You want to have a memory for a lifetime, come spend an evening at The angus barn.
Just an exceptional place and experience. Steaks from Kansas, seafood from North Carolina, wine cellar that rivals some of the best in the world (no fooling!), cheese from Wisconsin. Tributes to our military. You want to have a memory for a lifetime, come spend an evening at The angus barn. This review is simple. Come here. But decide early and make a reservation. By the way, ask for John Taylor as your waiter. Personable and professional. Ps…ask about a Wine cellar tour, it’s free and amazing.
Good food and service in a very cool setting!
Excellent food, service, and atmosphere. Take time to walk around and look at the collection of wild turkey decanters and other memorabilia! Great evening.
Best Steakhouse in Raleigh
The food was excellent ! The steaks were cooked perfectly, the sides were all flavorful and cooked just right. Everything was hot when it came to the table, YAY! The staff was friendly, accommodating and efficient. The atmosphere was unreal. We need to go back for the great food or just to look at the many rooms full of artifacts! Everybody needs to go at least once to experience this place! Best food, Best experience in Raleigh!
Holiday Super Priceless Memory
Christmas decorations were overwhelmingly beautiful. They create a night to remember from outdoor Christmas trees and ginger bread cookies, Menu is varied and interesting. Service is four star and food is delicious. Prices are high but portions are take home size. What a night to remember, it was priceless.
Visually impressive, great staff, food overpriced
Christmas decorations alone are worth the drive, staff was great. For the price, our meals were generous in volume but average in terms of taste and texture.
Wonderful family dinner.
Been looking forward to a Christmas meal at AB for a couple years. Need to plan ahead! Went at 6:00 on Wednesday and it was packed. No problem with reservation, and actually seated a couple minutes early. Service was excellent, as per most of the reviews. Food was very good, but maybe not completely at the level of its price. Steaks done to proper temperature but all three of them were a little dry or tough to cut. Still very good, but a bit surprised that they needed to be “sawed” with the steak knives. But really the only issue, so still a wonderful evening with the family. The whole package - food, service, over-the-top holiday decor-provide a special experience. Will definitely return!
EXCEPTIONAL HOLIDAY EXPERIENCE
I am delighted to express my utmost satisfaction with this restaurant!!! Every aspect, from the exceptional staff and incredible food to the impeccable Christmas decorations, went beyond my expectations! The crab dip, prime rib, and chocolate chess pie are all OUTSTANDING!!! Severin, the turkey lounge bartender, is truly AMAZING, and I am immensely grateful to him for ensuring that every dining experience at the Angus Barn during my three-week stay in Raleigh was memorable. He makes the BEST spicy margaritas!!!!
Sooo i finally made it to Angus Barn and I have to say, I
Sooo i finally made it to Angus Barn and I have to say, I was super disappointed. This place is pretty over hyped. We came in and right away had kind of an awkward interaction with the hostess... she wasn't mean but just kind of quiet, unsure or anything, and not super friendly. We wait for our table for a few min (we had a reservation). Once we sat down we realized our drinking glasses were so dirty. I usually don't say anything if things are slightly dirty but some of the glasses were just disgusting. Our waitress came and introduced herself and all that. She took away the wine glasses from the table before asking what we wanted to drink. We were going to share a bottle of wine... when I told her that (after she collected our wine glasses) she put them back in front of us. Did we look like people who wouldn't get a bottle or something? We shared the oysters and crab cakes as an app. They were pretty good. My husband and I shared the tomahawk steak and we got a wedge and stuff potato. The potatoes were ok, the tomahawk steak was WAY salty and just kind of lacking flavor and a little tough. Overall, the experience was just meh. Not sure we will return. Maybe we expected too much? But for the price shouldn't we expect a decent experience?
A great way to celebrate our anniversary
Our server Nikki D was great. She made super recommendations for wine pairings with our meals. We were treated to a tour of the wine cellar and the rest of this unique property by Andres. He was so generous with his time and every staff member we encountered welcomed us with "hope you enjoy your stay" and "thanks for coming" to "we hope to see you again soon." If there was a rating higher than 5 stars, that's what we would go with.
The service was great but they didn't have many vegan food
The service was great but they didn't have many vegan food options. But, it was a great first time due to the atmosphere and the people I was with.
Nice, but expensive
I went to this restaurant with my family. The steaks are very expensive and quite frankly, not worth the cost. Unfortunately, there was a very large group ahead of us in the kitchen, so we had to wait longer. By the time our dinner came, everything was pretty cold and not the best it could have been. The service was excellent
If you're coming for the food--DON'T! Unseasoned steaks,
If you're coming for the food--DON'T! Unseasoned steaks, beef ribs drowned in a spicy bbq sauce, dry salmon. How does a chef get creamed spinach wrong? Cheesecake with too much salt, very little cream cheese.Don't take my word for it, go ahead and spend $200 on a less than mediocre meal for two, at a restaurant with a very dated decor.
Went to the most amazing wedding at the pavilion.
Setting was gorgeous food was delicious. Amazing!!!
Started with 5 stars possible and ended up at 2 and a total
Started with 5 stars possible and ended up at 2 and a total waste of $400. 1 star because the place is historic and service was spot on although our main course came out under warming covers which leads me to it was sitting and they do that to keep it warm just like room service in a hotel. Oysters we're excellent so there the 2nd star. That were it stops. I wanted their Signature Smoked Old Fashioned. Was told they did not have their special bourbon for it and I said that's fine just use another bourbon and they said they would not smoke it?! Sorry that's just stupid. I love smoked drinks and that excuse kept me from trying a neat pour of Weller 107 (which was $275) so their loss. Salad was fine. Bread was bread. Now the 22oz bone in ribeye comes. No flavor at all. Asked for medium rare, was done ok. Sorry the main course was average at best. We go to Bull and Bear Orlando, Kanes in Nashville, Uncle Jacks NYC, Gallaghers NYC, steaks there are worth the money. What do you expect. It's a Barn. YMMV
Outstanding service
My husband and I have been many times and service is always fabulous. Last night was the first time my inlaws from Wyoming were able to go with us and our server, Andres, went above and beyond to make it an enjoyable and memorable experience for them. He was an absolute delight and gave us outstanding service.

The service was so great and my prime rib was honestly perfect. I got some mixed reviews from friends prior to coming but I'm glad we came!!
It is hard not to love the Angus Barn - and it starts with
It is hard not to love the Angus Barn - and it starts with the valets. Then a visit to the outside bar while you wait, a trip to one of several beautiful dining areas, before the food begins. No spoilers here, but plan to make a visit soon and expect to leave contented.
Disappointing isn't even close....
Awful. Tough New York strip steaks. Rookie waitress. Bad evening all the way around plus expensive for the quality of food.
Angus barn survives off their name.
The hype is real but the food definitely doesn't live up to the hype. Since we moved to Raleigh, all we heard was that we had to go to the Angus Barn. We finally went and it left much to be desired.Let me first say, the service is amazing. All the staff is wonderful, friendly and we were greeted by so many people. They really do make you feel welcomed. The ambience is really what you're paying for. It's unique and you won't find anything like it but the food, meh. I ordered the ceasar salad, French onion soup and crab cakes. The salad was the most basic ceasar you can think of. The dressing was bland and it was just romaine, cheese and croutons. Nothing special. The French onion soup was average, at best. I've had much better for much less expensive! The crab cakes were probably the best of the 3 but were a bit oily and again, I've had better for much cheaper. I do think Christmas time would be fun to come for the decorations. It's fun to come and say you've been but trust me, there is MUCH better food in the triangle for significantly cheaper!
Fun place for a dinner.
The novelty of the barn itself, decor, and different seating areas makes the experience worth it.The food itself: Steak is excellent. Sides are very average. The asparagus had no flavor, and I was not a fan of the blue cheese mashed potatoes. Pricing: Expensive for what you get, again you're paying for the hype and the novelty of dining here.Overall it is fun to experience and go to at least once, so definitely check it out. I won't return though because the food isn't anything special for the price paid. Have definitely had better food at other restaurants in Raleigh for similar or less cost.

OK Dinner
Salads and service is always good, but the steaks can be a crap shoot. Unless you want to play hockey and need a puck don't order the onion rings!
A wonderful experience with my sister and her husband for valentines / birthdays !!! Love the food and the customer serv
Love love love we went in early afternoon but came out at night time and it look like a fairy tale story with all the lights and elegance of the whole experience !!
A Little disappointed with the food
Staff 5/5 Food 4/5 Value 4/5 Angus Barn/Turkey Lounge (will never be 5/5) Atmosphere 5/5 Turkey Lounge is better and quieter than main restaurant. SUMMARY 4/5 As a former "Road Warrior" traveling domestically and internationally for business for 35 years, I GREATLY appreciate good food and service. A Good Value is a bonus. Over 5,000 meals out in restaurants in 35 years. Unfortunately 1/3 @ Angus Barn today(Service 5/5) Staff 5/5 @ the Turkey lounge, Cathy and Betty were the BEST part of our time at the Turkey Lounge. Food 4/5 3/5 Burger(well done)r was dry as well as the Bun. 5/5 Steak sandwich, well done, was and the bun wasn't dry. I know you can get a juicy well done burger, but you need to have proper skill, as my brother in law, a chef locally. Unfortunately, a line cook will just either press the burger(making it dry) or put a weight on the burger to get it done fast. I expected that my $19 burger to be better than a "Cook Out" burger, and it wasn't, Cook out won this round. @ Lounge :3pm-4pm
