Arakataka Oslo Reviews from The Last Year
Great place
Great food and great staff! If i return to oslo will definitely be visiting again. Really good value for a 6 course meal with alcoholic beverages.
Lovely meal
We were looking for a good place to eat and managed to book this about an hour beforehand on-line. We went for the 6 course tasting menu. We both enjoyed it immensly. The only slight negative was that the service was a little slow but not so much as to detract from the food. We would recommend a visit.
Great "DC"scene 1st stop- (appetizer-drinks-then move to
Great "DC"scene 1st stop- (appetizer-drinks-then move to next place for meal and then on to dessert from street vendor). Perfect first stop! Wait staff attentive and knowledgeable and love the ambiance. Nice experience!
Very good value for money
Good atmosphere, close and good service in northern-Italian-Norwegian sounding, the food good, the dishes were consistently excellent. Chosen 4 dishes. Very good value for money, but can probably find slightly better dishes in Oslo, at this level.
Should be experienced!
The food, the wine and the atmosphere were absolutely fantastic!🔥🥰👌 Smart and knowledgeable waiters who came with good wine tips ☺️🙌
Best value for money in Oslo?
Back to Arakataka after a few years away. They still deliver food and service at a high level, in this price class. Can you find better places in Oslo, definitely, but more value for money, I think you should look for a long time. We would love to come back
Excellent restaurant, above-average cuisine
This modern restaurant offers great, contemporary Nordic cuisine of a high standard. The intro to the four-course menu is exciting: raw halibut with kohlrabi, the dessert with berry sorbet is delicious. The main course with chicken and chard is also successful. The staff is busy, attentive and professionally friendly. The only thing that overwhelmed us was the wine list. There are hundreds of bottles of wine from growing regions all over the world, offered here in a voluminous folder. A real selection with the expert eye of the sommelier is not to be seen. The number of German Rieslings from Rheinhessen, for example, is huge, but there are no well-known wineries from Baden.
Menu is misleading and waiters do not tell details
The food was really good - service and attitude was bad. Menu is misleading - hard to notice small printed details. If you want a four-course menu, read the menu very carefully because the waiters do not tell you about the dishes marked that are included in the price of the 4 course menu. We got to experience that afterwards it is impossible to fix the issue with the staff.
Smart small plates, open on Monday
Part Wine bar and part gourmet Restaurant Arakataka has existed in its current form for over a decade, and although staff has changed over time the kitchen continues to challenge itself with bold plates based on local products combined with Nordic sensibilities plus global influences. Open 16h00 to 22h00 Monday through Saturday, an a la carte menu served alongside the NOK 895 six-course tasting, tiled floors and wood decorate the L-shaped space where bilingual service is unremarkable but friendly enough to get the job done. Bolstered by a fairly young crowd and extensive Wine list, each table starting with Malted Sourdough tinged in Fennel, Monday night’s amuse consisted of young Broccoli with briny Cream and Horseradish before the requested addition of a luxurious Donut topped in quality Caviar and Cream. Served as six proper courses, several hiding the Protein such as in the case of Steak Tartare with unripe Strawberries, local Tomatoes were brightened by two types of Currants before proceeding to delicate Custard beneath Mussels and Beans. All properly cooked, each Ingredient contributing to the whole without excess, Monkfish showed well alongside a package of Zucchini, Nuts and Onions prior to the main course of juicy Chicken alongside bitter and earthy components. Glass-fronted but currently obscured by construction it was within 90-minutes that a Dessert of Raspberries and White Chocolate was served, the addition of florals and Caramel creating a beautiful composition before diners departed to home, a nearby concert venue or other nightlife.

Excellent
Found by the Michelin guide and following the excellent reviews, it is definitely worth booking in time. Very minimal but comfortable environment, fortunately very kind and competent staff There were 2 Italians helping. We chose the complete 6-course menu. All excellent!!! The dishes were cooked in every detail, excellent raw materials. If you happen to be in Oslo don't miss it. The bill is adequate for the city, for 2 people the 6-course menu with 3 glasses of wine we paid 200 euros. Ps. Keep in mind that here in Oslo what has a big impact is wine or alcoholic beverages in general.

I have some reservations coming up tomorrow that have gotten lots of views but haven’t sold yet. I haven’t made a sale yet since I just joined this week. I keep lowering the price, but am worried they won’t sell. How long did it take you to sell your first reservations? And did you have success being reimbursed by AT for no-show or cancellation fees? Just looking for a little reassurance. Thanks!

You should probably cancel prior to the cancellation date per the cancellation policy. I would imagine you would only get reimbursed for a sold listing if you happen to be charged?

My first sale took about a week. But as the other commenter said stay ontop of your cancellation windows. There’s no reimbursement for those so make sure you cancel in time then just try again.
