Good
Decent food, great selection of mezcal, loved getting recommendations on what to get. Place is pretty casual. Have to say that this is low value for money, but if price isn't an issue it's safe to go here.
Be the first to ReplyMexican food with a twist
We had the Guccamole as a starter, the shrimp burrito and a Mexican chicken soup with avocado. All of this topped with a spicy margarita. I asked for not too spicy and thank god I did because it was still to spicy :) Everything was delicious and had a little something different to it. Nice ambiance and staff. Will definitely come back

Underwhelming experience over all. Overpriced mediocre food. Realise in nyc everything is expensive , coming from london were use to this. However food was nothing to write about couple of the dishes we ordered were decent some just so underwhelming for the price. The chips and dip were all way to spicy.

Atla’s food was much better than I expected. Every single thing our party of four ate was excellent. The ambiance is ok- we came for lunch on a beautiful day and sat on the heated porch so it was fine but don’t expect much. Also one bathroom for the entire place. But both the food and drinks were excellent.

The introduction was unpleasant. I ordered Totopos & Salsas to start. The salsas were all spicy, but that was not disclosed in the menu, and the totopos (chips) were completely stale and super greasy. Had to return the order, we were unable to eat it. Then came the Salad with Chicharrón. That was good and the portion was generous. Then came the Branzino and the add on tortillas. Fish was excellent, tortillas on the other hand, not impressed. Good thing though is that these tortillas are corn and not flour. Finally came the dessert. We ordered the flan even though their signature dessert is the tes leches, but I don’t like tres leches. I guess we should have ordered their signature dessert…… the flan was more like a crème burleé - it was not flan :( In general I did not find the food we ordered anything to write home about nor would I ever look to return unless I happened to be in the neighborhood and cared to give them a second chance. Really, this place is not memorable.

Simple but good Mexican food at reasonable prices with good service. Cocktails were very good. Service was quick and efficient. We were served our meal within 10 minutes of ordering. All the food came at once. The tacos, quesadilla, salad were interesting and better than most.

PROS Service is awesome and they are all really nice. Food is very simple but all good. Good position, price is right, I got the best Margarita in last 10 years CONS We got here because of the Michelin star suggestion: it is too way simple, our expectations were much higher than this - it cant be guacamole, tortillas and tacos as main options for brunch without go over 50$ plate. Come on. Recommended, but much less hype

Considering the price and ambiance (extremely small, pokey restaurant where tables are stacked almost on top of each other, even outside), this place doesn't measure up.
Drinks were astonishingly expensive ($18-20 margaritas/cocktails served in tiny glasses that do not taste fresh). $18 for a tiny plate of guac with three large chips. Waiter "suggested" we get 2 orders of guac as a party of 4, we declined, waiter instead offered additional chips and salsa. We get the bill and it was an additional $12 for chips (2 small bags) and $8 for 3 tiny bowls of salsa. Main courses are more reasonable but were hit or miss, the lobster burrito was inedible (flavorless and dry), but the pork al pastor was delicious.
To top it off, the service was poor. Our waiter was impatient and walked away from our table while we were in the middle of ordering only to return 5 minutes later with no apology or explanation and asked "are you ready to order NOW?" I had to ask 3 different staff where the bathroom was as I was ignored by the first 2.
I will never return here.
An excellent Mexican restaurant
An excellent Mexican restaurant in NY from renown chef Enrique Olvera. Despite that the menu is not vast, the options give you a good idea of Mexican cuisine—plenty of outdoor space.

I’d been wanting to try Atla for a while now. Finally got a chance to go for lunch with a friend. Small spot, lots of people. Friendly service and delicious food. The duck wings were the highlight for me. But everything was quite good. Can’t wait to revisit when it reopens.

We celebrated my girlfriend's birthday and we couldn't have had a better experience. Our waiter, Michael, was the best waiter I've ever had in any restaurant anywhere in the world. The food was top notch, the place was cozy and modern. All in all my favourite restaurant experience in NY.

For the average Mexican food that Americans are use to, maybe they don’t know most real mexican flavors.
I am happily surprised with this restaurant!
My sister told me long ago to go..
I was there with a few friends we all have different dishes all tasty and well portions, not the usual huge like other places, Thai goes more real what it’s serve in México.
Service was very attentive and friendly explained all the menu for friends that weren’t familiar with ingredients.
Drinks were also very good!
I can’t wait to go back with my husband!
Good but small serving sizes
The overall restaurant is very trending - clean and well lit. I would recommend a reservation - even with our reservation, our group of 4 waited 15 minutes.
Our service was fine - the waiter seemed to have a "im too cool for this" attitude, which I is typical for this part of town.
Drinks were delicious, same with the food but the portions were SMALL. Not filling but beautiful and tasty. Come here expecting to spend $$ on small plates. It was also incredibly frustrating to see other tables being served at a much faster pace while our food slowly was prepared.
I would pass and try somewhere else, unless you're already full.
Very, very good food, exceptional for Mexican food, very, very helpful, friendly and attentive wait staff.
This is a wonderful restaurant. It is friendly, comfortable, very, very good food, very unusual for a Mexican restaurant, in a positive vein, the wait staff was very well prepared in their explanation of dishes, their preparation, and attentiveness. I am not a fan of Mexican food, but this restaurant was recommended strongly by a friend months ago. I am so glad I went, and I will return again. I live 2 hours away. It is pricey, but it is New York. It was worth it. It is noisy, but friendly. It was a little hard to hear everything the waiter said to me, but he was very helpful in my selection of dishes.

I have been wanting to visit an Enrique Olvera's restaurant. I was not able to get into Pujol in CDMX since it was booked. We loved the food, everything was delicious and the kids loved the churros. I would recommend this place for sure!
