WOW. I really wanted to love this place based on the reviews and the pics, and boy did I! The food, ambience, staff... everything was amazing. We tried their tasting menu on Jan 21, 2022 and paired it with a Junmai Daiginjo "Taiheizan 'Tenko 40' Heavenly Grace" from Akita prefecture. The pairing worked well for the entire meal.This asian inspired tasting menu featured a lot of vegetables and some meat dishes. Everything was seasoned extremely well and was as much a feast to the eyes as it was to our taste buds. There were 10 distinct items on the tasting menu, with one additional chocolate cake they brought out for my birthday. 1) A house cocktail to serve as a palate cleanser. It was vinegar based with pineapple juice, egg whites and some bitters among other things. It packed a punch! This was the only item in the menu that I didn't finish as the quantity was too much for me for the flavor profile it carried.2) Trout w/ Roe - came topped on a crispy base. Super fresh and light.3) Japanese Turnips - the turnips were teeny, tiny and covered with black sesame paste. It was quite delicious but my favorite part was the seasoned step. (sorry, the pic came out quite messy for this one!)4) Bluefin Tuna - 4 thin slices of tuna topped with micro-greens, cucumbers and finger lime. I did not know what a finger lime was till I tried this dish. They are these tiny little lime bombs that just exploded in your mouth to create a perfect harmony with the tuna and the sauce on this dish.5) Coconut curry - this dish came with a swirl of cabbage topped with a few slices of mushrooms sprinkled with dill. The cabbages felt like noodles in the coconut broth. Probably the best cabbage I have ever had. The mushrooms were super thinly slices and delectable. There were also some spinach on the side. But the winner on this dish was the combo of the coconut broth with the mint oil. I love everything about it - the flavor was amazing and it looked like a piece of art on the spoon!6) Mushroom tortellini - This was my favorite dish. These little tortellini were stuffed with mushroom and culture butter. When you bit into this, the melted butter just burst into your mouth. The soup that these tortellini were served on was onion based. Delicious! I could eat a giant bowl of these :)7) Bison Filet - Cooked to perfection served with wood-eared mushrooms with chicken based creamy sauce. My fiance's favorite item.8) 4 different desserts (including the birthday cake) - Banana cream strudel, candy cane mushroom, ice-cream with stout sauce and chocolate cake. All were delicious and delicate yet filling. A great way to end the meal. We also got some coffee to go with out dessert.Cannot say enough good things about the staff. They were lovely and did everything to make us comfortable and enjoy the experience. They also sent us back home with a little bag of sesame cookie each. And not to forget, they had a lovely birthday card waiting for me with the entire staff signature when we got there. Absolutely loved the experience!
