Ballast Point
Beautiful location by the beach. Cool merch and yummy beer. Loved the outdoor section. Ordered also a sandwich with fries
Be the first to ReplyGreat view and spacious
Went here with some friends for lunch - very nice location right on the harbour with some nice views. Lots of space, and sofa's right by the windows, which was nice. We sat at a table with a nice view. The food was pretty good - the burger was tasty and filling. Good experience, and I will be back!
Be the first to ReplyFood was okay but the service was terrible, we were 10 guest and 2 of the dishes came about 1 1/2 hour later. 25% tips!!
Everyone has different taste and opinions, the food was okay but a terrible service. I didn’t even get water when asked. Two of my dishes came 1 1/2 hour later. Plus they charge me 25% tips without my consent. Definitely I will never go back again 👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿
Be the first to ReplyGreat Views
The facility itself is amazing as well as the views. All ordering is done via QR code on the tables…. We don’t care for that. Also, this location is not dog-friendly which is a serious shame that’s probably going to keep us from returning.
Be the first to ReplyVery enjoyable
I expected an older style brew pub but this was clean and modern on the water. You need to get the garlic fries appetizer. Fresh, hot and very tasty. Easily could have been combined with another appetizer for a meal. My wife got the child’s fish and chips while I got the regular. I easily would have been satisfied with the, slightly, smaller serving as it also came with a slice of watermelon and large cookie. Fish was hot and tender. The place seemed loud to my older ears.
Be the first to ReplyChill vibe, great space, food and drinks. Best place to hang in Long Beach my opinon.
This is a great spot for enjoying food and drink. The beer they make is excellent. They have tons of outdoor seating , comfy lounge seats and table tops..good music playing. This opens at 11 during the week with an additional upstairs rooftop vibe that opens at 1pm. You will see boats passing by on the Marina and across the way from the Alamitos Bay Yacht club. Ideal vibe for hanging out with friends, solo, whatever ..it's chill and cool. Two bars inside , and you seat yourself. You order from the QR code on your phone and pay on your phone as well and they deliver your drinks right to the table your are sitting at so don't change tables after you order. The California Kolsch is so damn refreshing and tasty..no hard after bites here. They have delicious fish tacos, mussels, etc..kids menu as well. Pictured here is the California Kolsch and fish tacos with Avocado added.
Be the first to ReplySkip this place - dirty, slow, crowded, horrible service
Don’t waste your time on this place. It does have a very cool location in Alamitos. Large with lots of tables/seating areas. Patio and roof lounge are cool. But…the service is horrible and the tables, floors, etc. are dirty. QR codes are used to order so the servers don’t work hard at all to please. Also, the QR code system wasn’t running correctly so half the time we had to go up to the bar counter to order. The bar service is slow, rude, arrogant, and unpleasant. For more detail on my rating system - here are my “5 by 5” rating notes. Five stars (*) is best: 1) Food Quality: *** 2) Service Speed / Attention: * 3) Service Attitude: * 4) Atmosphere & Clean: ** 5) Price & Value: *** Extra: Restroom Clean? NOT rated Overall Rating = 1 STAR based on 10 of 50 points (20% rank) Will I return? NO Reservations recommended? N/a Parking situation? Slim pickings. It can be tough to find a spot, but only because of the other merchants in the area.
Be the first to ReplyToo much employee posturing.
I was initially excited about going here. I always look forward to new brews. Location is beautiful and we had a table with a view. The beer was very good. But the service was awful. The servers all just wanted to hang out and chat among themselves. There must have been some type of food photo shoot going on because the cute female photographer was getting lots of attention. The tables got 0 attention. We had to get up
and go to the bar to get refills, ask for our check, and finally pay our check. We might still be sitting there is we hadn’t taken the initiative on our own. Oh the food - ehhhh.
Great location and beer
This place is in a fantastic location with outside seating available. Their response to covid was very efficient - you scan a barcode for the menu, select your food and drink including making your own flights, place your order, then someone brings it to your table. So there really aren’t wait staff but just servers walking around. It works! Great food and beer selection in a wonderful setting.
Be the first to ReplyOne of the BEST restaurants in California - must visit !
Ballast Point is one of the key reasons we do not want to leave California !
The spectacular ocean view along is worth every pennies you spend there - better than Anthony Pier 4 in Boston, for example, or Orange Hill in Orange County.
They have the best beers and beer selections in California - significantly better beers than BJ Restaurant - especially dark beers.
We highly recommend it !
Great beerhouse like in Germany...... getting the beer and food yourself
Very good beer. Some of our tour memebers were not happy to get food yourself as there is no service - but it is claery stated everywhere.
Food is OK, but pricey...... but the BEER..... fluid nutrition !!!
Great Food and Beer
So the ONLY reason for the 4 stars is the service and the "sign up" to get in. We arrived right at 10:30. The people in front of us just walked up and were added to the list. We were the only other ones standing there at that time. We were told to sign up online. Which once we figured out how three others were taken in because they knew the process and signed up faster. Eventually we made it in so all is good. Just a crappy system.
Then you get to the table and the scan code took FOREVER to bring the menu up because everyone else is also doing the same or on their phones. Would have been WAY faster if we just ordered. Food and drinks came out. All was good except my husbands which was not his food. At first he thought he made a mistake. After looking at the receipt, we knew there was a mix up in the kitchen. He got is correct order but it was missing syrup that other plates had come out with.
It is what it is, Just wish the food and the seating was better streamlined.
Over all the food was fantastic and the drinks were super yummy.
It would be nice to have someone drop by to ask if you have any menu questions or allergies!
We would give it another shot!
Pretty sweet place
So, I’m a total Ballast Point fan but live on the other side of the county.. work sent me out this way so I couldn’t miss out on this place.
This is by far one of the coolest brewery/pub locations I’ve ever been to. And I’ve been to a lot.
Staff were nice, drinks were reasonably priced and the views from the main floor and the rooftop were awesome.
I’m sure this place gets busy in the middle of summer but it’s definitely a must-visit for any brewery fan.
Cool little gift shop too.
Great view, Horrible concept of counter service
I LOVE Ballast Point for it's wonderful view, outdoor patios (the only way to go!), beer, bubbly and food. Their concept of waiting in lines to order food and drink is absolutely HORRIBLE, however............... I usually try to go at a time that it's not busy so I don't have to deal with standing in line and leaving my guests to hold our spot/table but we couldn't avoid it this week-end. We tried to go on Saturday (2/15) but it was too crowded (no outside table and long lines) so we went to Boathouse instead. It was nice there because even though it was crowded, we could still get a seat outside and they have wonderful entertainment and good service. We did go to Ballast Point on Sunday, (2/16). We went early this time and found a nice outside table but the lines were long. My girlfriend had to hold our table while I stood in line. It truly was ridiculous that we had to be separated for so long just to get food and drinks ordered. Even though everything was delicious and we had a nice time, we didn't go order more because we didn't want to leave our conversation or stand in line so Ballast Point lost out on making more money on us. Honestly, Ballast Point would make a lot more money if they offered table service. I felt bad for all the people that were waiting for a table and we were just sitting there enjoying our conversation and the view but not eating or drinking. Another bummer was that they no longer have the option of a champagne split. They only have Prosecco now. BooHoo! :-( I don't like Prosecco (too sweet)

This San Diego based micro-brewery took over a spot on the Alamitos Bay that had seen a string of not great restaurants. They rebuilt the building to take advantage of the ocean views and sunsets. They added comfortable seating, both indoors and out, including a fire pit in the corner. They put together a menu to would appeal to most every beer drinker.
Although this is a large space it is set up like your standard beer tasting establishment which means you will generally have to go to one of several bars, attended by a number of bartenders, to get your beer. Similarly you will have to order your food the bar although it will be delivered to your table.
This is more of a hang out with friends place, maybe a date place or informal business meeting place than a family celebrating a birthday place. At the end of the day, however...and it is the end of the day, you want to be here, preferably on the upper deck or by the fire pit, to enjoy the end of the day.
What a disappointment! Love their beer, hate this place.
Ballast Point beers are among my favorites, so I was really looking forward to visiting this place. Other than the beer, everything about this place is wrong.
1. There is no hostess. We apparently missed the sign out front that read "Grab a menu & seat yourself".
2. There are no waiters. You have to go to the bar, wait in line and order your food & drinks yourself. If you want anything else (like another beer), repeat that process.
3. We had appetizers with our beer. They were overpriced and the portions were very small.
4. This place is LOUD, really LOUD. Good luck carrying on a conversation. And it wasn't even really crowded when we were there.
5. We wanted to order a couple of flights to sample some of the beer we had never had. Went to the "Flight Bar" to order and were told we could only have a flight of pre-selected beers of their choice, not ours.
6. Then we tried to order flights from the big bar and were told that we were not allowed to do that because it was the weekend. According to their "rules" you can only select your own flights during the week. Huh?
7. My sister in law bought a shirt from the gift shop and guess what? Another slow moving line! Only one cashier so while she was filling growlers the register was left unmanned while customers with simple, quick transactions waited and waited and waited....
I'll keep drinking their delicious beer but would never even consider coming here again. Such a shame because the location is beautiful and the place itself has a very nice casual, upscale look and feel. This place really needs help.
