We ordered 3 butter chicken lunches listed at 10.
95 on the menu with garlic naan included. When we picked up the bill was 69$. Food was okay but this is price gouging due to covid.

5 stars. This place is a little better than okay. The prices are reasonable. The staff are very very nice. The food is okay, though a little inconsistent flavour wise. Which is difficult to understand since I always see the same person cooking. But so be it. I go for lunch typically and get the daal soup and then aloo gobi or Kashmiri chicken. Usually with naan (which they do a pretty good job with). As others have said the decor is a little lacking but it's pretty typical of many of the small Indian restaurants I've been to. Of the two Indian places on St Paul this is my preferred Update - so I went today for lunch and got take away as I needed to get back to office. Unfortunately lunch was...no so good. Maybe they felt rushed? Service when you eat in is slow. Soup was flavourless and Kashmiri chicken had chewies. I like this place but it is a bit inconsistent.

We have been here many times over the years and enjoy the hospitality and the very good food. We have done both eat-in and takeout. However you take it, the food is always good. I have no hesitation is recommending it to my friends or taking visitors there.

Food was plentiful, tasty, and well-priced. The delivery was very quick. We could not ask for more! :)

This place has the worst indian food possible, straight out of dinner boxes frozen warmed up and served. It has such a yucky taste. I would never go to this place again or recommend anyone.

Love the food here! Been several times and it's never disappointed :) The restaurant itself may leave something to be desired when it comes to dรฉcor but the food is all I really care about
Be the first to ReplyDecent Indian food here.
The space is big and tacky, and by the looks of it probably never really busy. When I went there was only 1 other table. Oddly, they aren't willing to substitute the rice with naan on their lunch special, even if you are willing to pay. You have to buy the naan separate. Little things like that really tick me off at restaurants. Why can't you substitute? This isn't fine dining nor fast food, this is just plain ol regular food where you don't scoop one item on the plate and instead scoop another. Anyway, end rant. The food is alright. The lentil soup has a nice consistency, and the chicken curry pungent and spicy. The naan is nice and fresh, as well. Overall, a decent place to go for Indian in the area.

I have been here 3 times in the past week and a half and plan on going again tonight for dinner. Great Indian food. The interior is tacky, but who cares. The service is fantastic, and the food is great. I forgot my take out and the young lady server ran down St. Paul Street to tap on my car window before pulling out in the rain. I've not seen them with more than one other table at any time. I can't believe more people aren't regulars.

The original Bansaree (previous owners) had the most delicious Indian food and professional service. But it's been awful for years now. I am surprised they are still in business. (A couple of years back, they shut down for a few months to "renovate". We were hoping that the rather tired decor would be refreshed. When we visited the reopened restaurant, we were at a loss to see what had been done other than a few new tacky posters and the actual taping up of the out-of-date wallpaper borders. Geez. )
