Great golfing and instruction
George Spinella at the Fazio golf course was very helpful to me and my guest prior to a round. I would highly recommend George as he made our experience at Palmetto Dunes a memorable one.
Be the first to ReplyWalkers beware of bikes
We love Palmettos Dunes and our condo, but the bikers are out of control! It’s almost impossible to have an enjoyable walk. Very little “on your left” or any biking etiquette. One way signs completely ignored. Bikers using the golf course paths while golfers are on the course. And this is in March. I can only imagine how horrible it is in the summer. Something needs to be done about the bikes. Beware if you plan to walk anywhere.
Be the first to ReplyGreat chipping lesson
Had an excellent chipping and bunker lesson with George. His instruction was concrete and easy to follow—on spot evaluation of a few tweaks to improve my short game. I had a great round today—the best proof there is!
Be the first to ReplyFull Swing
Edward did an excellent job of evaluating my golf swing. He spotted and corrected a flaw that I would never seen. He's good for beginners and seasoned golfers.

Ed was great. He was very helpful and encouraging. He even followed up with video and commentary when that was not expected.
Be the first to ReplyMichael is the Best!
Michael was the perfect instructor. A good blend of skill training, encouragement and instruction. It was my first gold lesson and I will be back. Thank you!
Be the first to ReplyPutting Lesson
Great putting lesson, especially in under an hour. Michael gave some great tips that you wouldn’t get in a normal lesson. Definitely recommend it. I would book online, makes it a lot easier to confirm your lesson.
Be the first to ReplyGreat golf
Edward the starter was awesome. Brian the ranger were great too. Both on Trent Jones course today. Great experience
Be the first to ReplyWAHHI - Golf lessons with Pro Doug Weaver
Enjoying the Golf Clinics, golf lesson with WAHHI friends at Robert Trent Jones Course with Doug Weaver. He is a great coach, covering everything you need to know and do to enjoy golf. Each clinic I learn something new!! - Alligator arms !! I am so happy I joined this group.
Be the first to ReplyGreat golf lesson with Doug Weaver - highly recommended!!
Doug is a great instructor. My index is ~10 and I asked for help with my irons. He quickly identified the flaws in my swing, which left lots of time to make adjustments and practice. Doug talks "with" you, not "at" you to find out what learning techniques work best for you. I especially liked that he recorded most of the lesson with my cell phone camera, including narration in the background while I was making the adjustments, so I can refer back to in when needed vs. relying on my memory. Another thing I liked was being able to stay on the range and continue practicing after the lesson - I wasn't rushed off the practice area. If you're looking for a great lesson and want someone who will tell you what you need to hear to improve and not necessarily what you want to hear, then Doug Weaver is your man. Thanks again Doug!
Be the first to ReplyA vacation that did not disappoint!
Our stay at the Palmetto Dunes was wonderful! We stayed in the Inverness section with a golf course view. So peaceful. When we arrive housekeeping was still cleaning our rental, but was done by 4:00 check-in. When they say arrival at 4:00, they really mean no early check-ins. We had our information mailed to us so we went directly to our villa. It was very clean with a nice beachy decor, and had just about everything we would need. Kitchen had everything I could think of. Bikes and beach chairs were delivered and waiting for us. So many excursions can be booked back in the marina. We went for bike rides- this is a large, beautiful property! Everyone passing was smiling and friendly. Paths can get tricky when bikers come from the opposite direction. Some are a little narrow. Wildlife in the pond outside our villa, including an alligator. Fireworks on Tuesday night were awesome. My daughter said, 'I want to move here.' She loved the whole vibe. Music, dancing, train for the smaller kids. Met many nice people. We miss you Palmetto Dunes. Thank you for the wonderful time and we hope to be back sooner than later.
Be the first to ReplyGreat location but not so great accomodations!
We stayed in Hilton Head on Palmetto Dunes. We stayed at 1 Troon Drive. Location was great! House was not in good condition--appliances needed to be replaced, blinds broken throughout the house, bathtubs did not work as bathtubs, carpets were dirty, and many more things were not up to par with the house. Palmetto Dunes staff and maintenance people were very responsive and couldn't have been nicer. The house also appeared to not have been cleaned very well.
We would return to Palmetto Dunes because there is so much to do in the area-waling and bike trails, beaches, restaurants, the General Store! Next time we go, we will either stay in a hotel or be very cautious about our choice of a house.
Reception center was useless
We rented a condo with a 1 bedroom and loft the condo was beautifully decorated and well equipped. our big complaint was the welcome reception desk. They were the opposite of welcoming, they showed total disinterest in helping us register. Our room was not ready for our 4:00 check in and they made absolutely no effort to determine when it would be ready. It turned out housekeeping forgot about our unit. it wasn’t until we asked one of the housekeeping staff about the status of our unit that the issue was discovered and resolved. It wasn’t until 6:00 when the unit was cleaned, yet we had to pay for a full day of rent and wasted hours waiting around. Lastly the porch was unusable due to the layers of dirt covering floor, chairs, table.
Be the first to ReplyGreat location and amenities … prices up substantially over past few years
Some of my friends have been going to Palmetto Dunes for over 15 years - mostly families… and now the “kids” are coming with their kids. I’ve joined the group 5x in past 7 years - 3x in St Andrew’s Common (backs onto Fazio GC and pond) and twice at condos on the beach (more $$$ but great views and convenience if you like long beach walks and beach experience - which we do). All of us have moved to the beachfront condos over past 5 years and love it. I won’t recommend a building yet (I haven’t booked next year yet). Some good value rentals can be found - we go down in early May for 2-3 weeks. Some of our group like to golf early - the 3 courses on site are great - Trent Jones, Arthur Hill + George Fazio. Early morning $$$$, midday $$$, twilight $$. I prefer early afternoon/twilight. Can do stuff in the morning with family and golf later with less pressure on pace (altho we like to be done in 4 hours or less), and much cheaper. I don’t play tennis or pickleball - but courts busy with lessons and play. Beach is great. Saw dolphins swimming by twice this week. Lounger and umbrella rentals available up and down the beach. All facilities have pool(s) - some are exceptional for small children. Many with BBQs available on site. Some indoor parking. Outfitter on site for bike /kayak rentals. Dunes buggy free shuttle service between Palmetto Dunes and Shelter Cove Marina area - restaurants and shops - plenty of food options, Kroger’s supermarket, etc, etc. In short whether a couple or couples sharing a unit, a family or whatever, you’ll find few places nicer for a vacation. Lots of good golf, mini-golf, beach and trails, tennis, eats etc. Enjoy!
Be the first to ReplyGreat Resort
Conveniently located in the center of the island. Lush landscaping and well maintained facilities. You really could park your car and never leave the resort. Plenty of places to eat, activities to do and a general store. We were at Windsor Place and loved it!
Be the first to ReplyBeachy vacation-vacation
The facilities were top notch. My teenaged children requested a "vacation-vacation" where they could lounge and play on the beach or in pools, play pickleball, bike, etc. It was exactly what we all wanted. Highly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyCan’t wait to go back
Just got back from a one week ladies golf trip. Palmetto Dunes was as beautiful as always. First time renting through the resort. Reservation staff was very friendly and the process was easy. Our villa at Wendover Dunes was great - close walk to the beach, had all the amenities, at the quieter end of the resort. Check in and out was seamless. Mailed my welcome package and mobile app had all the info needed. Golf at Robert Trent Jones and the Arthur Hills courses were the highlight of our rounds. Dined at a couple of fantastic restaurants at Shelter Cove, stopped by The Dunes House for drinks at the beach. Just wish we could have stayed longer to take advantage of all the other things Palmetto Dunes has to offer.
Be the first to ReplyLoved our stay!
Best location, very short walk to the beach and wonderful restaurants! The unit was clean, needs a bit of updating, but we loved the layout and would definitely stay again! Also, the Palmetto Dunes grounds are immaculate.
Be the first to ReplyI give Palmetto Dunes a C rating for overall experience
Golfer tourist trap but has just about everything you need in the area. Easy check in and out. rental unit was clean and in good condition.
The Jones and Fazio Courses are good although there is a lot of hardpan off the fairways and no good rough. The hills course is too aggravating and hardpan off the fairways makes it no fun to play.
None of the courses or clubhouses have been improved in the last twenty year.
Half of the staff is very friendly and half is not friendly at all. It was like two different sets of customer service.
Wonderful Spring Tuneup for Bluefield University Golf Team
Bluefield University Golf Team appreciates Palmetto Dunes staff and Doug Weaver for an excellent spring tuneup before the season began. The golf instruction from Doug Weaver was excellent and the facilities and golf courses were in excellent condition. Our team was able to optimized practice and play time due to Doug Weaver and the golf staff. We can’t express our appreciation enough for the hospitality and professionalism of everyone. Accommodations were excellent also.
