Beckon Denver Reviews from The Last Year
Beckon Denver: A Birthday Celebration to Remember! I'm
Beckon Denver: A Birthday Celebration to Remember! I'm still reeling from the extraordinary experience at Beckon Denver! This exceptional restaurant exceeded my expectations in every way, making my birthday celebration truly unforgettable. From the moment we walked in, the service was impressively perfect. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic, guiding us through the menu with expert recommendations. And the food? Absolutely sublime! Each plate was a masterclass in flavor, texture, and presentation. The turnip dish was a standout, with its tender, sweet, and earthy goodness. Every bite was a delight, and we couldn't wait to see what the next course would bring. The sommelier's selection of the 1978 Blandy's Madeira Terrantez was inspired. This exquisite wine paired perfectly with our final course, its nutty, caramel flavors, and velvety smoothness, the ideal complement to our meal. Beckon Denver's commitment to using only the finest ingredients and innovative techniques shines through in every dish. The attention to detail, the passion for excellence, and the warm hospitality make this restaurant a true gem. If you're looking for a special occasion spot or simply a night of exceptional dining, Beckon Denver is the place to go. Trust me, you won't be disappointed! Five stars , a million stars... it's a culinary experience that will leave you beaming!

You get what you pay for …
Please be aware - this is expensive. With wine pairing and the Wagyu it’s going to cost you more than $500 each. However, it is an amazing experience. They were full on a Wednesday night. We had chosen to sit at the chef’s table. The service was exceptional start to finish. The food and wine pairings were outstanding. It was awesome to see the food prepared and interact with the staff. A great experience.

Having eaten at over a dozen Michelin restaurants, I was very excited to see Beckon receive one in Denver's first round. The restaurant's ambiance was dark yet pleasant, setting a promising stage for the evening. Our waiter was a bit goofy, not the most refined, but nice enough. We added wine to the prix fixe experience and got ready to enjoy what was touted as Denver's finest. As the courses rolled out, my anticipation began to wane. I found the food uninspired and mediocre at best. One particular course was so salty it wasn't edible, a disappointing lapse in culinary judgment. The sommelier, too, was unimpressive, repeating the same word-for-word description to every table without a hint of personal touch or enthusiasm. However, the greatest letdown of the evening was the service. It was lackluster, to say the least, and I would rank it at the very bottom of all my dining experiences. Empty plates lingered on our table for several minutes too long. While this might be overlooked in a less prestigious setting, it fell woefully short of the high standards set by other Michelin-starred experiences. What exacerbated this issue was the visible sight of 2-3 employees, at any given time, chatting idly in the corner. This lack of attentiveness meant that guests, including myself, were left without the high-level experience that should come as standard in such an esteemed establishment. In conclusion, my visit to Beckon was a tale of unmet expectations. Despite the anticipation built around its Michelin recognition, the experience was marred by subpar service and uninspiring cuisine. While the ambiance and the concept promise much, the execution leaves much to be desired. It's a reminder that a Michelin star sets a high bar, not just for the quality of food, but for the entire dining experience, a standard that, unfortunately, was not met on this occasion. In the context of Denver's food scene, Beckon may rank in the upper 25%, but when viewed on a wider scale, they fall significantly short of the mark.
Good service with better than average food
The entire dinner experience lasted for 3 hours. The server was very attentive. The staff explained what you ate when they delivered the food. We sat at the Chef’s counter so we saw how they prepared the food. Although we were given eight dishes, each was a bite-sized piece of food. I like 5 out of 8 dishes plus the dessert. I found two dishes very salty, and the “donut” dish was poorly cooked. The dinner is pre-paid, including taxes and tips. During the dinner, the server tried to upsell you expensive wine pairings and extra food. It could get costly very quickly if you bought them all. Parking can be very challenging. For a one-Michelin-star restaurant, it meets my expectations in service, but the food could be better.
THE BEST MEAL EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE.
Yes. It is expensive, but also, I was FULL when I left and every bite of food was incredible. We had reservations for 3 at the 5:00 seating. Immediately upon arriving, the service was incredible. I felt welcomed and comfortable right away. We got the sommelier's wine pairing, along with splitting the waygu 3 ways. We sat at the corner of the bar, which was great because it allowed us to talk. We ordered a round of cocktails, and then got started with the food. We had a snack from the kitchen, followed by course after course. Nearly every course, I thought oh! That one is going to be my favorite, but then the next course came along and I thought the same thing. Everything was perfect. It was like magic! Everyone answered our questions happily, chefs, to sommeliers, to service staff. I cannot gush about this place enough! If you are trying to decide which Michelin starred restaurant to visit in Denver, I could make a strong case for this one!

Went here for my birthday last year and we couldn't have picked a better spot! We heard this place got a Michelin star now that they are giving those to Colorado restaurants, but we came before it was awarded one. Book your reservation far in advance and be prepared for a long, intricate meal. Chef's table is a must so that you can watch the food being prepped and plated. I loved every single dish, but the tomato basil gummy was one of my favorite things I tasted.

The curated menu was impeccable, the service attentive, and the overall experience positive. The zero proof bevvy pairing was quite fun! However, we expected more charm, authentic interaction, and better ambiance based on reviews. During our meal we were upsold several items which was quite tacky (e.g., $90 for 2 oz ribeye). The scripted intro to every dish & wine pairing was, well very scripted with zero inquiry or interaction, the harsh detergent smell coming from the back every 15 mins assaulted the senses, and the whispering pretension of all interactions with the staff lacked energy, we're more of the type that appreciates one dedicated server that is fully knowledgeable & equally likable. ultimately, a little overrated despite the incredible quality ingredients.
It was one of the best nights of our lives, top 3 meals
It was one of the best nights of our lives, top 3 meals we've ever had. I returned to my stressful job the next day and any time I would start to feel overwhelmed, I'd think back to the black cod and wagyu and immediately feel at peace. The staff made us feel like family, where we were comfortable to make jokes and ask questions while always feeling welcomed. Being able to watch the chefs up close made me feel like I was in a cooking show and made literally all of my dreams come true. I truly haven't been so happy in months.
Best Date Night in Denver
My partner and I were absolutely blown away by this experience. Meal doesn't capture it, it was an experience. Each bite was simple, powerful, flavorful avoiding the over-the-top Vegas flair that undermines high quality dining. It was obvious the menu was painstakingly developed to guide us through the evening. And the wine-pairing! Perfection. A must. Word to the wise, though, there were something like 7 glasses offered? I was quite blush by the end of the night, I think I'd opt to split if you are driving right after, or not a big drinker. Surely cannot skip though, really elevated each plate.
We tried Beckon before they got their Michelin star and
We tried Beckon before they got their Michelin star and were truthfully not very pleased with the meal and experience. To start, we do love the interior. It's dark and dreamy and we like watching the kitchen and servers. Service was pretty good and attentive so we were happy with all the employees. Food wise, we understand portions are small for upscale dining but we felt like the food wasn't very yummy or inventive. None of the dishes blew our mind with the flavor. For instance, the fish dish was just a tiny piece of fish with a few veggies. I saw no creativity. The biggest disappointment was we also got the wine pairing and the pours were incredibly tiny. They were a splash. We finished the pour in 2 sips. We're pretty familiar with fine dining and this was the smallest pour we've ever seen or gotten. It was disappointing. Overall for the price we won't return. We want to feel like we're paying for creativity and we weren't.
When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.
When your girlfriend's boss tells her to go somewhere nice for a dinner for 2 due to a very successful project she was in charge of, you go to a Michelin star restaurant. I have always wanted to go to a Michelin star restaurant so when this opportunity presented itself, it was too good to pass up. We experienced The Long Night Moon quarterly menu concept that ran 10/2023 to 12/2023. As mentioned before, this was my first experience at a Michelin star restaurant and I thoroughly enjoyed the seasonally rotating menu concept. Along with The Long Night Moon, we also added the non-alcoholic drink pairing which pairs a unique drink with almost every course. I would HIGHLY recommend adding the drink pairing as it was evident that careful thought was put into how the drinks and the courses would complement each other. The food and drinks were amazing. At first, there were a few courses that I was not entirely sold on, but my girlfriend informed me that restaurants like these provide an experience as well as a meal so the different courses are presented in an intentional order. After knowing that, everything made sense and I was completely sold. The first few courses were light and simpler while the latter courses were heavier and complex (check out my photos). The drinks that accommodated the courses either enhanced flavors in the food or masked certain flavors that may be too intense for some. Again, I cannot recommend the drink pairing enough. A true experience would not be complete without amazing service and Beckon hit the nail on the head. There was not a single time that we were unsatisfied with the timing of anything. In fact, we were made aware that the experience would take 2.5 hours total and it took exactly that much time when we received our check. Impressive. The ambiance of the restaurant is impeccable. We opted for a more intimate setting by sitting on the covered patio which we enjoyed but the indoor seating seemed very enticing as well for those looking for a more involved experience. I would highly recommend people looking for an unforgettable experience to spend an evening at Beckon. It will surely be a memory not to be forgotten easily. Unfortunately, Yelp only allows up to 10 pictures to be uploaded per review (I took 23 pictures). I selected pictures that I believe were the most representative of my experience to be uploaded along with this review.
What a transcendent meal.
WOW. I have a new favorite restaurant in Denver. Ever since I found out that we now have Michelin starred restaurants in Denver, I've been determined to try each one. And Beckon well deserves its star. My partner and I had the Long Night Moon, a multi-course experience at the chef's counter which is the main area of Beckon where you can see the chefs preparing and cooking each dish. It's an intimate, romantic modern-looking space with tasteful decor, perfect for a special occasion - groups of more than two who want to be able to talk to each other should reserve a table experience instead. I won't go over each dish--everything was delicious, flavorful, and artful, transforming my ideas of what Scandinavian cuisine could be. My photos don't do the presentation justice. The only thing I didn't love from the courses was the venison, which didn't have a gamey flavor but was a bit too tough to chew. The service was so attentive and friendly, though, they noticed I'd left the venison unfinished and graciously replaced it with a scallop dish which may be the best scallop I've ever had. Their pacing between each course was never rushed which made for a relaxing, sensual experience. The highlight of our meal was actually an add-on dish, the A5 wagyu from the Miyazaki prefecture of Japan, which was incandescent! So tender and perfectly fatty. While it was pricey at $95, my partner and I shared the 2 oz portion, and it was so rich that I wouldn't have wanted more than that. Beckon is right next to its sister restaurant, Major Tom (a great alternative if you're not able to get a reservation here) in the heart of the RiNo district. There is only street parking, and thankfully we were able to find a spot right outside for our 5:30 reservation on a Saturday. It's recommended that you take a ride share to get here since parking can be really difficult to find at busier times on the weekend. The entrance itself is discreet and easy to miss--a grey curtain that leads into a firelit heated patio area that can hold larger groups. Dress code-wise, I don't believe a jacket is required, but as with most Michelin starred restaurants, most of the patrons are dressed somewhere between business-casual to formal. All in all, this is an upscale, elevated experience that's well worth checking out if you're able to afford it!

A beautiful holiday gift! Kunal Mittal set me up with a highly curated dinner at Beckon in Denver with guest Chef Brian Lockwood. Hosted by 4 different somms and Chef Duncan Holmes (Executive Chef of the restaurant) Every dish had a balance of simplicity of ingredients and complexity of technique. And the wines were true gems sought from some very unique growers around the world! Denver is elevating its culinary scene.

As far as my fine dining experiences in Denver this one is top's (Wolf's Taylor close second). It's not that it was the best food, it was that the complete experience was the best. The folks here truly understand hospitality and the importance of taking the time to share the pairings and the stories with the guests and not only do the do this, it doesn't feel forced for them, you can tell they're truly happy to be doing what they're doing. Kudos!
Absolutely great! Such a fun time.
The vibes were sooo chill. Really enjoy the whole time. Food and service was fantastic

Sad to see the downfall of this restaurant over such a short period of time. Dined here for the first time in April and it was a top 5 meal of my life. Clear focus on a white glove experience and every dish was exceptional. Was extremely excited to return, and unfortunately, the experience was pretty disappointing. On a positive note, the wine pairing was extraordinary. Interesting wines and exceptional balance between wine and food. However, the holistic experience was a far cry. There was a clear ambition in the air the first time I was there, driven by the head chef. Not sure what has happened, but service tonight was complacent and felt perfunctory. There were two dishes that were abhorrent. The first was essentially a frozen potato ring couched as "ice cream." We couldn't bear to eat the dish, and when we communicated our dislike to our waitress, she could not have cared less. It was almost as though we had insulted the restaurant by being politely candid about our experience. The second was a vile "palate cleanser" for dessert, and no one bothered to ask about the full dishes we asked the servers to clear. Overall, a huge disappointment, because of the couple of absolute flops, but more so because of the flippant attitude from the staff and the subpar service experience. Not sure if they're high on their horse now that they have a star, but in my mind, this went from an iconic, world-class experience to an overpriced, snooty "don't bother" restaurant that has lost the essence of its spirit and charm. Definitely won't be going back, and I wouldn't be surprised if the star disappears quickly if this outing was representative of the status quo.
Food: Truly incredible.
The thing I really loved about the journey of food here is that it's all very approachable food, but elevated. 99% of the items were things I would have ordered off an a la carte menu somewhere -- they were just elevated and of the highest quality. Everything was melt in your mouth. My favorite dish was the yellowtail in tomato water. Sounds basic but it was truly delicious, balanced/bold flavors. The desserts were amazing too. Service: Very high caliber. Kind. Attentive. My main complaint is that I thought the food came out at very very slow pace. I understand this type of thing at fancier restaurants but I felt this was just a bit too slow. We were pretty hungry for the first hour+ we were there. Ambience: We stayed at the one table in the "sommelier saloon". It was an interesting spot. They very much warn you when you reserve that this spot is "mere steps away from the chef's counter. An entertaining choice for diners who don't mind being in the midst of the action." I took that as much closer to the chefs counter than it really is. It's definitely not a great place for someone that gets distracted easily because it's the hot spot for all the servers to walk/stay in and out of constantly. Overall we had a fine time but wouldn't stay in this spot again. The garden is much much warmer/nicer than I expected. I would definitely stay out there next time! Even in the winter.
Seriously the best tasting food.
Everything was amazing. I was a little skeptical at first having to pay for my food prior when making the reservation, but honestly it was a good feeling to have it all taken care of then experiencing the food. I believe we got 8 courses total, and there wasn't a single dish we didn't like. The portions were small, but believe me, you won't leave feeling hungry. Make sure to book reservations in advance to get an ideal time!!
Worth The Hype!!
Superior and attentive service! Delicious and inventive dishes and very well thought out wine pairings. An intimate evening and I would highly recommend!
Great flavors, good service, some confusion and bad dent on the credit card.
Here is the great to the not great. FOOD - absolutely a culinary and flavor bomb experience. Truly greatly trained chefs here giving your senses excellent bites. Delicious. PORTIONS - of course fine dining is smaller portions. These however (8 courses) were 1-2 bites each. I expect smaller bites of course but this borderlines insulting. One plate had a green the size of half a dime and they said it was topped with salad. After a three hour seating, all four of us went out for burgers afterwards. 8-10 bites of food is not an 8 course meal. SERVICE - kind and attentive. Very informative of what you are eating and drinking. COST - we prepaid for 4 people, 1 wine pairing, 1 cocktail pairing for $1392 total (they automatically add tip). We all agreed and thought we’d get out of there for what we paid. Here’s where the confusion set in. The cocktail pairing cost $95. We added that to the other 2 people in our party when we arrived. When my bill came later they charged us for 3 people and told me I did not prepay because they don’t do that. Luckily I kept my email receipt so keep that! During dinner the three of us has cocktails come out as pairings. They asked us what we liked and at one point asked if we liked whiskey and we said yes. Turns out that didn’t count as the cocktail package?! So we were charged for this whiskey at $120. That should have been explained. For a beef dish this was said to us “this dish some feel 2 Oz is too much. Do you want to downgrade to 1 Oz?” This to me sounds like the 2 Oz is part of what we paid. Why would I downgrade for a prepaid meal? Well the beef was Wagyu and apparently agreeing to 2 Oz was an upgrade for $400!!! This felt intentional to get us to upgrade. The people next to me got a dessert cocktail with their package and we did not. We have enjoyed fine dining in a lot of places and have never left a place hungry, had to prepay, and have such confusion about cost. So overall, delicious bites, we were still all hungry for dinner, good service, not a fan of the secretive upsell. Would I do this again for $500 a person? Absolutely not.
Great culinary experience!
Reservations are a must and you are also required to pre-pay. The outside is easy to miss while driving but our uber driver knew where it was. Don't be afraid to ring the doorbell if you arrive a little early. We had cocktails in the small pre-function area while we were waiting to be seated. This dining experience is VERY interactive. During service, a different chef would come and explain each course. They also had two or three sommeliers explaining the wine pairings. There seems to be no dress code. I would describe it as 'smart casual'. I saw two men in slacks with a sports jacket (no tie), but everyone else had nice jeans with a collared shirt. No one had shorts on. It took us under 2 hours from start to finish. We were the first ones done that night. The food was unbelievable, the wines selections were unique and brilliantly paired, and the service was top notch. This is a highly elevated dining experience. The cost is $$$$ but worth it for a unique experience. Enjoy!

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it? |
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid? |
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted. |
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from? |
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered? |
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.

I have a prepaid reservation, but I'm allowed to transfer that reservation to others for a price that I set (up to the total price I paid).
For selling POSTPAID reservations, do I charge the buyer the full amount of the reservation when transferring? And then the buyer pays something on top of that (which is what is listed in the AppointmentTrader listing?)
Major Issue for Seller
My money is being held hostage! Can you please remove my refund medal as I am below the 11% threshold and should be able to withdraw my full daily amount now? I have been teying for a long time to get a reply on this. Major issue for people looking to do good/right like you ask and make positive sales. Being able to access earned revenue is critical and not getting any reply is very concerning for your sellers. Lot of other people having the same issue. Once below the threshold you should auto remove the warning medals.

Just wanted to put this out there as I find it quite weird. AT will hold money if your sell through rate is to low. It seems weird to punish sellers for listings not selling.

I have a reservation for Kasama Chicago I listed but it’s not showing up because the listed opening hours are only until 3 or 4 pm. My reservation is for their dinner service at 5. Is there a way I can change the times myself?
