Fabulous dinner!!
Both of our dinners were absolutely fabulous! I had the elk and my girlfriend had the scallops. The scallops were on a bed of risotto that was infused with truffle oil! Five star rating right there on that plate The elk that I had had a variety of very interesting and wonderful additions on the plate. The elk was on a portion of mash, sweet potato. That alone might’ve been boring somewhere else, but it was infused with a mixture of nutmeg cinnamon and after about five seconds a bit of Cayenne pepper took over for the finish. That was a wonderful surprise that was unexpected. The garnish was marinated watermelon, radishes, along with onion This was a Michelin level dinner that was outstanding!
Lunch
I ordered online and when I arrived I was greeted immediately. While waiting (I was early), several staff members asked if I was being helped, which was great. The food is always yummy and affordable. I would certainly recommend this restaurant.
Always unique
Alex, our server, made the evening very enjoyable for our special night. The duck confit spring egg rolls were fabulous. Truffle fries were tasty but completely soggy in oil. Please bring back the escargot. For entrees the venison and chicken nicoise were both excellent. We were hoping to have the kangaroo and elk chop, but it’s not on the menu anymore. The crème brûlée for dessert was perfectly made. Love the unique dishes here and will certainly be back!
Misses the Fine Dining Boat!
OK, but not what I consider fine dining. Technically the menu has all the right stuff, but somehow it misses the boat. El Chompo bites again!
Awful, overpriced dinner!
We don't usually leave negative reviews but...this one is warranted. I am writing this review for my husband exactly as he outlined it for me after going there for dinner last night while on a business trip. His meal consisted of clam chowder, duck breast and blueberry peach cobbler for dessert. The clam chowder was unlike any he had ever had. The potatoes were 'al dente' and there were only two pieces of clam and no clam flavor. Its only redeeming feature was that it wasn't too peppery for his taste as some are. The duck presentation on the plate was nice, however it was so tough he was unable to cut it with the butter knife he had Fortunately, the waitress noticed his difficulty and brought him a steak knife. He was finally able to cut a few pieces, but once in the mouth, well, unless you want to chew 30 times it was basically inedible. The cobbler had three blueberries in it and no sign of peaches. All-in-all, it was a terrible dinner for which he paid almost $80.00. The only good thing about it was that his server was very nice and tried to be helpful. The one star is really for her. Will not eat here again
Sad to see a decent place fall so far.
Poor service, rundown interior, load music, nursing home buffet level food. Skip this place. The hamburger patty was not seasoned. The soup was not seasoned. What else can I say? Standards seem to be falling everywhere....
Bad Experience
we were having a wonderful experience until we had the misfortune of dealing with the manager, James. one of our meals (out of a table of 7)- was a split chicken dish. we paid the $5 split plate charge. typically, the point of split plate charges is so that the meal is evenly split- evenly cut main, even sides, even toppings. one plate came without a topping- an egg. we asked for another egg and were told there would be a charge. isn’t that the point of the split plate charge? so we asked for the manager, and he came over very defensively, saying “we can’t split an egg in half”. after a very short confrontational conversation, he walked away and refused to even tell us his name! we had to get it from our server. it was genuinely shocking how unprofessional the manager was. FAR from a fine dining experience. What does an egg cost? less than a dollar? they chose to literally argue with a table that had a $500+ bill and paid the split plate charge for a dollar on their end. horrible choice. the food was mostly decent, but this restaurant just lost 7 customers because of how rude the manager was. not willing to pay over five hundred dollars to be treated the way the manager treated us.
Surprisingly disappointed
We have dined at Bernadin’s several times in the past. It has a great location near St.Peters and the Green. Our reservation was for 12:45 pm yet we did not get seated until 1pm….that was a challenge with a 6 month old and a one hour window to eat during a working lunch break. I ordered the clam chowder and Turkey sandwich. We were not served waters until midway through our meal. The soup was served without a spoon and our table did not have salt or pepper for seasoning. I asked for Aioli mayonnaise on the side and it was delivered after the sandwich was consumed. Very confusing serving arrangement in the front room as the bartender, waitress and Maite de seemed to rotate serving and table clearing duties. Turkey sandwich was OK…fries were limp and lukewarm. I hope this was just an off day but management should at least try to seat and serve customers in a timely manner during the working week.
Perfect meal
Tonight we had the perfect meal and exceptional service. I can’t say enough about our waiter, sadly I don’t know his name (he had an Irish accent). My husband had the filet and I had the salmon. Both were perfect. The salmon had these little potatoes with it that were so unusually delicious. Crispy on the outside and chewy in the inside. The salmon was cooked perfectly. My husband said his steak was the best he has had in a long time. Best service we had the entire time here. Will return and recommend this cozy, wonderful gem!
Wonderful Place to Eat before a concert or anytime!
We ate here before the Melissa Etheridge Concert at The Knight Theater which is just across the street from this wonderful restaurant. We made a reservation for an early dinner and with 2 other concerts in Uptown, we were glad we did. We had a wonderful booth right in the front window! Cheria provided outstanding service from start to finish. We had Oysters Rockefeller and Calamari for appetizers, and split a Caesar Salad. My wife had the seafood Linguine and I had The Barramundi. Everything was excellent and served in a timely manner. We had Cobbler for dessert and a bottle of The Calling with our dinner! Great location with a romantic and great atmosphere!

* Peter can now talk to ElaborateHouse74 for any questions Peter may have as ElaborateHouse74 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* ElaborateHouse74 now uses their connections at Bernardin's Restaurant At Ratcliffe Charlotte to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If ElaborateHouse74 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
