Simply the best chophouse/steakhouse in Richmond!
Wow! Simply, this is the best steakhouse in Richmond. No one else is close in my humble opinion. I usually order the peppercorn fillet but all the entrees others ordered were excellent as well. Nice ambiance, decor and superior wait staff! See you folks next week when I celebrate my birthday!

My boyfriend and I went here with a reservation on a Friday evening. Service is top notch - very polite, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. Our cocktails were very good, as were the sides (salad, potato cake, vegetables). We both ordered the strip, which I think was a mistake and we should've gone with the filet. Even still, the strips were both quite fatty and have gristle throughout. The steak is obviously the main part of the meal and that was quite a bit disappointing. I'd give it another try but definitely splurge on the filet next time.

On 08/03/2022, my wife and I brought our cousins here to celebrate their 50th anniversary. The food and service was excellent. Our waiter was Sean. HOWEVER, during the reservation process, I was asked at least twice if there was a celebration and if so what type. I indicated on both occasions that it was an anniversary. I just assumed that when I was asked about the occasion that this occasion would somehow be acknowledged. It wasn't. (Happy anniversary). I heard the waiter at the table next to ours wish the celebrants a happy anniversary. Also, based on other reviews on this site, I noticed that a dessert was given to the celebrants as a memento. Not to our party. As I said, the service and food were excellent but missing the little "happy anniversary" left me and my wife feeling a little empty.

Elegant, cozy atmosphere conducive to conversation, with nice background music. One wall, filled with wine bottles, shows off the wide range of wine available. The menu has both beef and seafood choices that are enticing and delicious. The fillet mignon was literally fork tender and delicious. The service was outstanding and very attentive. Ample parking. This is one of the nicest restaurants we have been to in the Richmond area.

My review reflects more my personal experience rather than that of my companions. They had filet and rib eye and proclaimed their dishes very good. Unfortunately, I oped for the veal chop and was very disappointed. It was gristly and chewy and sauced with a creation I thought did not go well with the meat. The vegetables that came with the dishes were good, although not hot when served. The bread (rolls) were overcooked and hard on the outside. Our server, Ryan, was pleasant and for the most part attentive. The tab for four was $436 with tip. That included three drinks, a bottle of lower end wine, three appetizers and two desserts. I know all restaurants have raised their prices a lot in the past five years, but I feel nearly $50 for a steak is excessive. To my mind, there was not $436 worth of fine dining in the experience. I'll not go back unless on an expense account!

I have lived in Richmond and had never eaten at Bulkhead's until last night. The place has a great old feel with nice bar and a welcoming soothing dining area. The wine selection is fabulous to go along with the great steaks. The service was exactly what we expected for making this a wonderful evening. Don't forget some key lime pie or home made bread pudding to end the evening. The place is expensive, but well worth it for a great meal. I can't wait to go back.

Five Star Service. Let me repeat - Five Star Service. Food - Awesome. Let me repeat - Food - Awesome. Drinks are not measured!!! Had the Filet with the Bearnaise sauce. 100% recommend this meal. Bake potato was perfect (no bacon).

Went to Buckheads for our anniversary. We both had the steak fromage. Steaks were prepared just as ordered and very good, but not as tinder as most filet mignons. The salad and vegetable of the day were excellent. My husband had the bread pudding for dessert which was excellent. I'm not a bread pudding fan, but thought it was great. It would have been nice if the waiter asked if we were there for a special occasion, but he never asked. We will definitely be returning and definitely recommend!

I’ve been in Richmond north of 25 years but had some how managed to not eat at Buckhead’s. Had dinner with my boss and some colleagues. One of the best steaks I’ve ever eaten but the service, sides, wines...really everything came together to make this a memorable meal. Can’t wait to go back again.
