I've been three times and eaten many things I'd never had before there. I've also never had a dish there that I didn't like there. It is a delightful, educational, culinary adventure each time I go. If you consider yourself at all a foodie, you need to go.

Have been here multiple times and have had amazing experiences. By far the best dinner you can get in St. Louis served by an incredible chef and his talented team. You can appreciate the passion they put into their work to deliver Ozark cuisine. The ambience is great and the drink parings work well with the food. They are very accommodating of vegetarians as well. The dinner experience here is a must for anyone living in or visiting St. Louis

We just had our second visit to Bulrush and it was just as wonderful as our first! The food and experience was just as good as our very amazing memories of it from our first trip. We brought along two friends this time, who said it fully lived up to our hype. Which as you can tell from my reviews the level of hype was quite high. On our way home my husband and I already discussed how we hope to eat here at least once a year, during different seasons to get to experience different courses.

This place lives up to ALL THE HYPE. And is worth every penny. If I could afford to eat here all the time, I would. You walk in and get served a welcome drink. Ours was a beet mocktail and it was incredible. You sit down at the bar with a small group - 8 people each. It's perfect because you get so much attention and get to interact with the chefs. I seriously didn't expect to learn so much at this meal, but it was SO engaging. The owner is fantastic and hilarious, he kept us entertained all night. His mission is amazing and one that my husband and I try to follow - local and natives. We actually went home after dinner and ordered sunchoke tubers to plant! Every course was out of this world. We had a fish filet (I'm not a huge fish person but WOAH), chicken and waffles, sunchokes galore. He even shared the menu to take home so we could remember what all we ate. It was such a great experience and I would recommend it to everyone. I love that they support a local high school as well. Such a cool story, unique mission, and a great restaurant to be behind.

Fine dining, with local twist, that tastes incredible. Chef Rob is an awesome guy with mission to pay homage to the history of the region as well as its peoples and made the experience very memorable. The dining area for the tasting menu is intimate and allows you to see the action up close. Never thought I would be so excited for a dish with acorn or pawpaw.
Visited St.
Louis and found this amazing gem of a restaurant! The entire experience was a foodie's heaven! Local ingredients and each meal was a surprise! Amazing bang for you buck for a tasting menu that delivers!!!! Thank you Chef Rob and your amazing team. Everyone was kind and I'll definitely be back next time I'm visiting!!! Bravo!
Great food, an event of food
We saw this place on a pbs show and were intrigued with the thought of Missouri food and and local sourcing. I was a 7 course meal and everything was unique and creative. The staff talks with you constantly and the owner introduces each dish. It was the most fun eating experience we have ever had. The food was excellent. The drink option offered alcohol or no alcohol. The drink mixer person made some great unique drinks. It was a great evening and worth the price

The service was immaculate! We walked in and immediately got a welcome drink, then they took a Polaroid and sat us at our table. The table was a big rectangle with the prep station in the middle. It was so fun watching them create each meal. Also, it was nice sitting close to other people. You got the best of both worlds; an intimate dinner with your significant other and a social experience with those sitting next to you. One of the great things about bulrush was how thought out everything was. From the food to the silverware (learned what a rancible spoon is) to the bathrooms to the amazing staff. The concept is everything they ate in the Ozarks in the 19th century. Every dish had a history lesson to go with it which made for not just a beautiful and well tasting meal but also an experience I haven't had at other places. Chef Rob is talented. Any chef should be able to take the best and most expensive items taste good but an amazing chef is able to take less desirable items and make them taste fantastic. Not only did he curate a delicious meal, I also love how he gives back to the community. With a zero waste food concept and working with Normandy high school once a week it truly shows his passion for food and passion to help the community. I'm not going to go through the menu because it changes every 6ish weeks but I have pictures of what we were served and the menu to go with it. We will definitely be back to see what else he comes up with.

But, what made the whole evening was everything else that comes with this restaurant: the history of the food, the creativity and uniqueness, the no waste kitchen, the passion of the chef, the kindness of the staff, the attentiveness, the dรฉcor, the welcome beverage, the to-go treat for the next day, the polaroid picture, the commitment to the community, the intentionality of running a business with fair wages, the closeness to the land, the natural elements used in the serving dishes, the presentation, and I could go on and on. Yes, the price point is high, but worth every penny. We will be back!

Such an incredible experience! We had a great time and all of the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The best part is each time you go there is a different menu to experience. Love the history tied in to the menu as well. Can't wait to try it again!
What an experience.
Each plate has a story and the chef is very passionate about full use of food and very little waste. You don't know the menu in advance which adds to the intrigue of a tasting menu. You are seated with the chefs working in the center so you watch prep as you receive each course. The food was amazing! We will return again.

Iโm not a good enough writer to do justice to this establishment, chef, staff. Absolutely incredible experience. Chef Rob has built something so special, so much more than a restaurant. It sounds corny but itโs true. I made a reservation for the 7-course taste of the Ozarks for mine and my wifeโs 10 year anniversary and it blew away all expectations. The food was delicious, creative. Each dish is steeped in history, made with all local and sustainable ingredients, and all is explained to you by Chef Rob himself throughout the night. Everything about Bulrush is personal, authentic, and steeped in careful consideration. The dedication to detail is almost absurd and it was a privilege to have been invited into the mind of such a passionate chef. If you want to just eat something and be left alone, look elsewhere. If you want an unforgettable culinary experience, a brief tour of local history through the medium of food, and want a lasting memory, this is where you need to be.
