The service was exceptional and the food was delicious.
The entire vibe and decor / ambiance of the restaurant added to the charm of this establishment.
Be the first to ReplyBumpkins is a cute steak house in Downtown Toronto.
Location is great, extremely clean, very romantic on the inside. Service was great as well, both servers were attentive and were very interested in getting to know us. We ordered the French onion soup, the garlic portobello mushroom appetizer, the fillet, and the NY strip. Everything was delicious. The steaks came with simple veggies and oven roasted potatoes, but the garlic butter on the steak and the meat juices really allows you to enjoy the steak. The only issue we had was that the steaks were a bit over done, we ordered medium and they came very close to well.
Be the first to ReplyI am just finishing a prix fixe dinner here.
The first the owner greeted me at the door and the waiter is charming and attentive. Caesar salad was freshly made , crisp with a great dressing. I had the lamb which was great and came with beautiful vegetables and crisp potatoes. All in all the food was wonderful. The place is elegant, peaceful. I don't live here, but if I come back to Toronto I will be back here.

We had a small party of 25 people for a "Celebration of Life". Ming made sure everything was handled to perfection including opening the restaurant on a day they were closed. The service and food were superb the vibe of the main room is so unique with art surrounding you. I absolutely recommend this place for a private party. Thank you Ming for your kindness, great great service and fabulous food!

We had our dad's celebration of life on June 9th at Bumpkins. Min was excellent. He walked us through suggestions on food, how to setup the room etc. The food was excellent and so was the service. The main room was comfortable and we liked the ambiance and thought it fit our celebration. I would eat here again and highly recommend it.
Be the first to ReplyA 41 year old restaurant! Something must be exceptional.
I remember this restaurant from a lifetime ago and have made many attempts to come back when I visit. Finally, it happened day after Christmas 2022. The escargot was indeed exceptional, just as I remembered it. The steamed mussels and French onion soup as well! We ordered them on top of the prix fixe set menu to share. So glad we did! Service was exceptional as well. We all felt well cared for. There are good reasons why they lasted for so long. I look forward to coming back again soon.
Be the first to ReplyA great place for dinner.
Beautiful interior. Great food and the owner/host was very friendly! Highly recommend for an intimate or group dinner!

Also the wine recommendation was fantastic! 5 stars! Great experience!
Be the first to ReplyCame to this place as my first dine-in experience in
Came to this place as my first dine-in experience in Toronto after 2020. The location is great, heart of the downtown and parking spots available. The staff are nice, helpful, and funny. The only thing was they did not know the wifi password haha. The bread was fresh out of the oven, delicious with butter. The french onion soup was amazing, the seasoning was spot-on and the cheese was good. The main course is where this place loses it. I ordered medium rare beef tenderloin and got medallions of tenderloin, some rare some well-done and chewy (my gums still hurt). The plating could be better, it was a mess. The lamb was a bit cold and not cooked well.
Be the first to ReplyWent looking for a resto that was close to our show venue.
The name itself did not inspire confidence nor did the fact that it was not busy at all for a Saturday night. It appears to resonate with a mainly white, older crowd and the menu matches. Bread rolls were portioned out and we had to beg for another by providing the specific amount we needed. Everyone in our party ordered apps and everyone was happy with them in general. The mains were a different story. Ordered chicken parm which was dry, tasteless and burnt on the bottom, filet mignon was covered with too much garlic (probably to hide the poor quality meat) and other dishes ordered by the table including a salmon and seafood dishes were all tasteless. We dared not complain to our our already ornery waiter. They were out of the dessert we wanted and got our coffee order wrong, which we ended up leaving behind as it did not taste good. Our table of 6 all agreed that we would never return. This place is ideal for people with more money than tastbuds with a penchant for surely service.
Be the first to ReplyWe enjoyed the dinner here at Bumpkins.
Service is very attentive and not feeling rush at all. We choose the prefix menu 44.00. Appetizer was a choice of a Ceasar salad or Spinach soup, along with a hot dinner roll. There were many options for the main course. We all decided on the boneless leg of lamb. The plate came with 3 large portion of lamb, quartered potatoes, mix of brussel sprouts, broccoli and carrots, steamed perfectly. Dessert was a choice of cream caramel(egg custard) very well done with fresh fruits and a dab of whipped cream or ice cream which came fresh fruit as well. For our friend who was afraid of both choices being too sweet she was offered a bowl of fresh fruit. I found the staff very accommodating. If you have subscription to the Mirvish theater make sure you let them know ahead of time for a additional discount.
Be the first to ReplyJust as good as it was 15 years ago.
Ambience is nice and the food is always good. Hot bread and soft butter is always so good. Service is excellent and food is always consistent. Steaks with garlic on top is so good.

Bumpkins has been around for decades and contrary to it's name, it is actually a very high end spot.I had to check it out after constantly walking by at night time when it was closed. The place is beautifully lit and tastefully decorated with art and sculptures. There is a nice patio which in the day plays beautiful music. Everything from Vivaldi to classic Italian opera hits. The staff are not the traditional "young and hip cool people" you get in Toronto but rather well spoken, educated and refined gentlemen and women. The food as with everything else exudes class. Seafood, pasta, steak and much more. All reasonably priced and I would even consider them to be great value when you factor in the quality. All in all, this place is an old neighborhood staple which is less known than most and located just far enough off Yonge to be tranquil and romantic for those special evenings.I truly do recommend people give it a shot because these guys do it better than your average Bumpkins!
Be the first to ReplyFood is average but too pricey.
Service is very slow - expect to wait an hour to get your entree. This place has an interesting but not tasty menu. It is however located within 2 blocks from the Wellesley subway station.
Be the first to ReplyWent for a work lunch and ordered the chicken cesar salad
Went for a work lunch and ordered the chicken cesar salad which was $17. The description didn't really match and it was the most plain and bland salad I have had. The lettuce was not crisp with some browned leaves, dressing didn't have much flavour and seemed watered down. Chicken breast tasted like one of those steamed cooked breasts you get when you go to a large wedding with no flavour. There was one and half croutons on the plate. Wasn't impressed. Nice decor, nice servers who were very attentive to the group but I can't get over how underwhelming the salad was.
Be the first to ReplyFood is awful.
Only thing good was the warm bread. Prime rib was tough. Vegetables are boring. Duck was chewy on orange sauce that came with it needs some help. Definitely won't be back here. This place was once good way back.

Wonderful place! Lovely wait staff made us feel like part of the neighborhood, were very polite, and served us rather quickly. The food was reasonably priced, but it was exquisite, especially the Strawberry Crepes; I would literally die and go to heaven for those. If you're ever looking for a great brunch in Toronto, look no further.
