Be the first to ReplyLost the class it should have
The music was loud and inappropriate and a couple brought a screaming baby into the cafe. The food was well prepared but ridiculously slow. Not worth a visit.
Be the first to ReplyGreat dinner!
Thank you Victor for the great dinner experience! This place has great hospitality and friendly staff. The Cafe Riggs is a beautiful restaurant with a great menu for lunch or a night out. We highly recommend the Duck Breast.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, Fun Atmosphere
The quality of the food at the Cafe Riggs is high. The bread rolls were delightful and should be eaten even by those who avoid bread. Nice cocktails with innovative approaches..
Be the first to ReplyElegant despite the "fire drill"
We ate breakfast at Cafe Riggs during the first day of our 3-day stay. It was mid-morning during the week, and the restaurant was not crowded. It is a gorgeous space located in the old Riggs bank building. Soaring ceilings, marble columns, plush seating, and plants combine to create a luxurious setting. My husband ordered the French toast and coffee, and I had the Goat Cheese Omelet and a latte. Both came in a timely fashion and were delicious. Unfortunately, when we were nearly done, the smoke detectors went off in the building, and we all had to vacate the premises. As we were hotel guests, we did not have coats, and the temperature outside was in the 30s. Luckily for me, they had a coat for me to borrow. We were outside in the cold for about 10 minutes while the fire department arrived and checked things out. While this event was certainly not the hotel's fault, no attempt at recompense was made. A complimentary latte would have been appreciated as mine was cold. Several of the diners did not even come back, clearly not paying for their meals, a sad commentary. In all, we enjoyed the breakfast and the stunning space, just feel the restaurant could have been a bit more accommodating of diners who were inconvenienced (and cold!).

Overpriced and a 20% service charge is added on, not including gratuity. 2 eggs, 2 slices of bacon, 1 slice of toast, small avocado garnish juice, coffee $26
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding dining experience. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This review is a long time coming,, but I’ll never forget the experience. It made for the perfect Fathers Day! The service was outstanding and food was prepared as asked and seasoned to perfection. Looking forward to another family outing in the district.

The space is so beautiful, comfortable, and relaxing, and Kay went above and beyond- an incredible server!
Be the first to ReplyThe decor is the best part
Nestled on the ground floor of the Riggs hotel in Penn Quarter, Cafe Riggs offers equally beautiful seating indoor and in their heated outdoor tents. My friend and I opted out to sit inside and the decor did not disappoint - high ceilings, Corinthian columns and colorful velvet-y chairs - yes, sign me up for more! Unfortunately, the decor was my favorite part about this experience. We sat at a communal table with high chairs and the service was sort of slow. We always felt like we were looking around for our server. First, my water glass definitely looked like someone had just drank from it because it looked like there was some kind of imprint at the top, so definitely check your glasses and silverware before drinking and eating. Onto the food now. The prices are a bit high for breakfast and brunch, especially considering the items being offered. My friend and I ordered the buttermilk pancakes, French toasts and some hash browns. The hash browns alone were $8, but they were extremely oily. It tasted as if I was chewing oil - if possible - and not actual potatoes. The pancakes weren't bad but there was nothing special about them (at least some berry compote, nope) to warrant the price tag. My French toast was the best item we ordered and it still did not fully hit the spot. It was a bit dry for my taste. But I did like the pecan glaze it came with. All in all, not a bad experience but also not one that would necessitate a return - if only to take pictures of the beautiful decor.
Be the first to ReplyHigh End Bar with More Hits than Misses
We tried Cafe Riggs on a chilly Friday after a visit to Ford’s theater. Riggs is a high-end hotel bar located in a large and sophisticated room. Bring a date here to make an immediate impression. We had a hot tea and one cocktail. These are nits, but tea in a high-end place should be served with its own pot of hot water. This one was not. And the cocktail was good but small for $16. But don’t get me wrong, the Cafe Riggs is a classy bar and worth your consideration. I’m just picky.
Be the first to ReplyGreat service does still exist!
Breakfast was delicious - staff was attentive and accommodating. We did not realize they stopped breakfast service at 10am so we walked in at 10:30 and asked for a table. The host/manager let us know they had stopped breakfast at 10 but also said he would check with the kitchen to confirm if they could still accommodate us. He came right back and sat us - a server came over to us shortly after that. Coffee was superb. Dining room is beautiful. They served the most expertly cooked French omelette I have ever eaten in a restaurant . Pancakes and smoked salmon toast were delicious. All around wonderful breakfast experience. Will be back any time I’m in town going forward.

Wish we had found this place sooner. We were staying up the street at a different hotel but stumbled in here for an afternoon cocktail. Great bartender and drinks.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent Breakfast
My friend and I had breakfast here each of the three days we recently spent in DC. It's an elegant, classical room. The food is great and reasonably priced (particularly for a 5 Star Hotel restaurant). The service was uniformly excellent. There's nothing stuffy about it and they make you feel at home. We were staying at another top hotel, but preferred to walk over and eat at Riggs Cafe because of the superior menu and the far more reasonable prices. Highly recommend the smoked salmon on toast.
Be the first to ReplyDo not miss
Cafe Riggs is always consistent in its superb service and food. It doesn’t hurt that it’s such a beautiful space. You won’t regret stopping by even just for a drink.
Be the first to ReplyService needs work
Writing separate reviews for the cafe vs the Riggs Hotel which I could not fault for service. Unfortunately the same cannot be said for the Cafe/bar. There was a waitlist for a table in the restaurant so we decided to eat at the bar. The bar staff were nice people but highly inattentive. It was not busy but it was difficult to their attention. After waiting some time for our entree it appeared it had been forgotten. The restaurant host was extremely apologetic and offered us a free drink, the bar staff also comp’d our last drink so I do feel they tried to make up for it. However when the food did arrive it was poorly presented and was not to the standard I expected for the prices. Again the staff tried to make up for the errors of the night , however the experience was not great. It’s such a nice setting in a great hotel so I hope they can improve in future.
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding food and service!
Another visit to Cafe Riggs and again it did not disappoint. This time we had Henock as our server. What a pleasure! He was attentive, checked in on us without being intrusive and the orders were perfectly timed and accurate. The food as always was outstanding. It’s good to have such a wonderful restaurant in the neighborhood. A classy must visit place with a great vibe. Visit and ask for Henock! Thank you for the outstanding service!!!
Be the first to ReplyConsistently Delicious Food
This was our third visit since the cafe opened. The food is delicious and quality has been consistent every time. The service was great. We really enjoyed the new Garden Terrace outdoor patio structures that are private and attractive. We will definitely return.
Be the first to ReplyFirst callas all the way!
Can’t say more about the food or service, especially the kitchen D all the baked goods originating especially the desserts. The Brunch even with Covid’s restrictions was impressive, more specially the food choices and its creativity.
