Cafe Robey Chicago Reviews from The Last Year
First time at Cafe Robey! The jalepeno cheddar bacon scone
First time at Cafe Robey! The jalepeno cheddar bacon scone with maple vanilla drizzle is out of this world delicious !
Amazing eggs Benedict and French toast.
Great service and atmosphere. We would definitely return.
Loaded Potato Tots:Different than i expected but not a bad
Loaded Potato Tots:Different than i expected but not a bad thing. Hash browns formed into crispy squares instead of actually tots but still good flavor and texture a little light on toppings (ranch chive and bacon bits) would be the only critique Crispy Chicken Sandwich: The sauce had flavors of chile ancho so a bit spicy. Crispy breading and good sized portion. Egg sandwich: Flavor of the sauce was a much needed touch, cheese works well with dish. Very subtle flavoring in the sandwich overall. S'mores Croissant: More bread like than croissant Good outer crust but lacking layers from a true croissant. Generous amount of nutella marshmallow and chocolate filling. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Asked questions about special items on the menu and they were not hesitant to find answers to my questions. Location and layout of restaurant was cute and fun would like to come back.
It's better than good - Cafe Robey has an unassuming level
It's better than good - Cafe Robey has an unassuming level of comfort that delivers both a sleek and homey design along with some very tasty food. Truth be told, not everyone in my party loved their dish as much as I did mine. Shrimp with Grits usually gets my attention and it was the star at our table. Perfectly cooked shrimp sits atop mascarpone grits, cajun butter sauce, roasted sweet corn, scallions and jalapeño. It's nicely textured and very shareable. At my table, everyone wished they ordered this. The Duck Hash (Potato, poblano peppers, charred onions, sunny side up eggs) sounded better than it was. The big drawback was very dry duck meat. Hard to love this as served, but maybe this was an an off day. The buttermilk pancakes (with strawberries) were good, though nothing exceptional. Gorgeous setting inside the hotel. The lighting and the tables are lovely (though our table for three was too tight for ourselves and our various dishes and drinking vessels.) Walk to other rooms and floors in the hotel to see what else they've done here. It's really nice. So glad there's another solid entry sitting on the border of Wicker Park and Bucktown. Also thrilled that the building has really come alive after years of laying fallow. Looking forward to another visit soon.
We discovered Cafe Robey by accident, while looking for
We discovered Cafe Robey by accident, while looking for someplace to have dinner before we went to Subterranean for 70s Disco night show. So glad we found this place as we have already been back twice. First of all, I was not even aware that the Coyote Building was a hotel or that there was a restaurant in it. The restaurant has a chilled vibe, cozy and comfy like. It has a very relax feel to it and the decor is light and airy. Getting in was somewhat confusing...you can enter from the street through a revolving door or through the lobby of the hotel. There is window seating across from the bar and a fair number of tables. I must say I was intrigued with the menu concept of breakfast all day. For me there is nothing like having breakfast for dinner...so deliciously decadent. For starters, we got the Sweet Potato Bread (pecan streusel, maple cinnamon butter) and a Cheddar Bacon Jalapeno Scone with Maple butter icing. Both of these were delish and are made in-house. The scone was so good I had another with my main course and took an order of the sweet potato bread home for the next day. For my entree I got the Duck Hash with potato, poblano peppers, charred onions, sunny side up eggs, served in a skillet. This was a very good dish and I was surprised at the amount of duck meat in it. This was definitely a great dish and one I would most definitely order. The Doctor did order it on our second visit and completely cleaned his skillet. In addition to the hash, I also got a side of the Maple Glazed Pork Belly. That was very good, if you like pork belly....I know it is not everyone's cup of tea because of the fat content. But the glaze was lovely and just the right amount of sweetness to complement the the savory side of the pork belly. For our first visit, The Doctor got the cheeseburger and fries, which he said was very good. The Queen got the omelette because she wanted something light. It had crispy potato, oaxacan cheese, chipotle crema, scallion, and bacon bits. As she also cleaned her plate, I assume it was also good. Second time back I got the Robey's Benedict (two 5 min eggs, fried green tomato, andouille sausage, cajun hollandaise). Definitely a variation on a theme, Nawleans style, with the sausage and hollandaise sauce. The sauce was really good; next time I get this dish, I would asked for extra. The sausage was good, but there wasn't a lot of it. The benny consisted more of the fried green tomatoes and the egg, but it was good nonetheless. Because it was Easter Sunday on our second visit, the restaurant had carrot pancakes with cream cheese frosting and crispy coconut. My BFF and I got an order...he normally doesn't clean his plate, but he did with these. I have to say I am not a fan of carrot cake, but man these pancakes were very good. I ended up taking half of the Robey's Benedict and pancakes home, having them for dinner. For those who don't want to do breakfast, they do have other items like sandwiches and dinner entrees after 5 pm. They also have a nice selection of wines that include a brut and rose sparkling (Yay me!). The staff was very attentive and friendly and we didn't feel rushed in any way. This restaurant has made the list and we will be back.
Please tell management that the music being played in this
Please tell management that the music being played in this restaurant is atrocious. It is so antithetical to the culture of the neighborhood. It's antithetical to the design of the building and the mission of the hotel. The food here is great and so is the service, but I cannot keep coming back to listen to sad 80s music. I mean people come here from all over the world to stay in the most hip hotel in the most eclectic neighborhood in Chicago. Either play no music or match the vibes of the uproom . Stop playing Walgreens music from the 80s. I'm a local and I will not be back until this is addressed

We love this cute little cafe! I am gluten free, so I opted to have my pulled pork on a bed of lettuce. They do have GF Bread available though. It was so tasty! My husband enjoyed his caprese sandwich and salad. Our server Rocky was great. He checked with the kitchen to make sure my meal was GF, and provided good service through the meal. The food was served quickly and the price was pretty reasonable. This was our second visit to this restaurant and I am sure we will be back.
Super cute little hidden gem.
Great cozy yet sleek atmosphere. We just had coffee and pastries, so we felt a little awkward because they have a full kitchen. 4 stars and not 5 because it was really empty at 6pm.

Such a cute place! Their menu was very interesting - wouldnt find anything super mainstream, but regardless it was all so good! I love pork belly so the tacos caught my eye and to say the least they were extremely enjoyable. My friend got the chiqualles which were also so amazing. The place is a tad pricey for drinks (mimosas or bloody mary) so we stuck to coffee which was also very good! Super happy with this place!
OMG!!! Where do I start!? Great soft lighting, smooth
OMG!!! Where do I start!? Great soft lighting, smooth 80's music, awesome 6 corner street view, just the perfect amount of peripheral background conversations, must I go on? I haven't even gotten to the food or the even tempered socially calming waitress (Meghan). The caramelized French toast is AMAZING!!! Omelette , grape preserve very tasty, hash browns were delicious and eggs cooked perfectly

Hi, I have a reservation to Nobu Malibu, but since they don't do text or e-mail confirmations I haven't been able to get my reservation posted. I have posted a screen shot of the phone conversation on the listing, but it keeps getting rejected. If anyone has an idea how I can get it approved that would be much appreciated, thanks!

Write a note with the Name of the restaurant, Name on reservation, day/time/number of people, your phone number. Then on the bottom wrote “confirmed by phone”. Screenshot it and submit.
