Cara Hotel Los Angeles Reviews from The Last Year
Great food and quaint and lovely boutique hotel
Beautiful hotel. The food was outstanding. The rooms are small but balcony overlooking reflecting pool makes the room lovely. Very clean. I would stay again. Very relaxing and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Steps to second floor are porcelain and beautiful. Went to beauty parlor down the street that was recommended by staff. Ashley did an amazing job of making my long hair attractive for the wedding at the Cora.
Lovely Hospitals in a beautiful setting.
My hopes for Hospitality in LA are redeemed due to the AWESOME staff. The spaces are goregous. Small but what else would you need. Ideally located for getting around. There is some small details I would change, but a value for what you’re getting. A+
I could write love letters to Cara.
I lived in LA for years and was never let down! Still a frequent LA visitor for work and always make a point to have my Cara reservation. I ALWAYS with out fail get the lemon pasta with a side of broccolini It truly cannot be replicated. Service and ambiance are always above and beyond. Love the whole experience dining with Cara.
What a gem!
My husband and I recently stayed at Cara for a week while visiting family. What an utter delight. It is, by far, the most friendly, helpful, truly kind staff I have encountered. It is aesthetically lovely, and extremely clean. The rooms are bright and breezy. The food is delicious. What a hidden gem! I will, without hesitation, be back.
Beautiful property, friendly staff, well appointed rooms
Beautiful property, friendly staff, well appointed rooms but very, very loud in the evening.
A jewel of a hotel!
To say this is a jewel of a hotel is not enough praise! The hotel is gorgeous and a tranquil spot amidst a busy part of the world - the lobby and pool area are elegant and oh! so comfortable; the bar is beautiful, and the rooms have every possible amenity, including an amazingly comfortable bed. I was impressed by the quiet of the room even overlooking a large dinner party that was held in the evening - we couldn't hear anything. We also loved the proximity to hiking in Griffith Park with spectacular views of the LA Basin. I would highly recommend the Cara - we have stayed in many different hotels all over Southern California over the years and the Cara is a true gem!
A must-visit hotel for style, excellent service and a supremely great experience!
This hotel is a must-go for anyone looking to stay in this part of LA. The whole feel of the hotel is retro-Hollywood fabulous, and the rooms are very comfortable. More than this, the enthusiasm and graciousness of everyone who works at the hotel were remarkable and unequaled by any other hotel we have ever stayed at (even the 5-star hotels). We felt thoroughly looked after, and no request was too much, even including a late checkout so I could conduct a last-minute business video call. Even the valet service was unbelievably friendly. And the restaurant and bar are gorgeous, with very delicious food and cocktails. Our only regret was that we didn't book a longer trip. We can't wait to go back.
This is an outstanding boutique hotel.
Its retro-Hollywood style, delicious food and cocktails, and the most professional and friendly service from everyone who works at the hotel are simply the best. The balcony bedrooms are lovely, providing a special place to sit outside and enjoy the beauty of the hotel. The room rates are very reasonable. Our only regret is that we should have booked a longer stay. We will definitely be back for a return visit.
Stylish restaurant in a neoclassical courtyard serving
Stylish restaurant in a neoclassical courtyard serving Mediterranean cuisine. This amazing hidden discovery was enjoyed this evening for my birthday. My boyfriend surprised me with a romantic dinner for two at this whimsical and romantically lit mediterranean courtyard. The team is amazing and most hospitable ever from their General Manger Alex Cove to the Charismatic Alex Barrios. Our servers, Alex and Lucas are fantastic and very well knowledgeable in choosing the perfect dishes and fabulous wine pairing. My mouth was watering from the butternut squash soup, prosciutto with garlic toasted bread to the delicious Lemon pasta. It was a spectacular evening with a handsome gentleman and the team at this establishment spoiled us to till the end of our evening. If I could give them 10 stars, I certainly would. Be sure to order the Olive Oil cake, which comes with creme fraiche and fresh strawberries.
Beautiful and clean and welcoming except for…
The staff was wonderful and welcoming. The first room was a very comfortable twin. When we needed to extend our stay, a twin was not available so my son went to a different hotel. My room was comfortable and clesn and fine until it was time to dleep. There was a terrible sound of what seemed like industrial floor cleanets thst persisted for hours. It was a terrible nights sleep.
Good location, really good food, absolutely superb people.
The hotel is in a convenient location. Even though the rooms are a bit small, they make up for all of that with the best staff I have seen in a long time. They are courteous, friendly, attentive and eager to serve. The food is very good, but it’s the people there that truly stand out and make it memorable stay.

Most people go here for the IG vibes, but it is truly and escape from the busy area right outside. The ambiance by the pool feels like you're in a different country. Service was a bit slow but the food was delicious!
Love the Cara
I was so charmed and impressed by the Cara. They overdeliver on style and service. I really felt like I wasn't at a corporate chain -- there's a person-to-person warmth. I know the whole place was a conversion from a regular motel and I looked into the history of the place when I was staying there. The old motel they converted was also a pretty beloved and safe motel for the tier it was in. I had been worried this place had some sort of bad history but honestly it's just good vibes at the Cara and their renovation has been gorgeous. Great beds! Small rooms if that's a problem for you but we didn't mind it. We'll be back.

I called to see if I could come early and hang out by the pool (as pictured on the website) and was promptly told that the "pool" was "really more of a water feature in the middle of the restaurant". I was upgraded to a balcony room which was small and the balcony was mere feet above restaurant diner's heads. People would glance up every time I opened the door. Additionally, the noise of the restaurant felt intrusive. The pool that's really a water feature in the middle of a restaurant feels very representative of this place.
Overrated and overpriced.
Just a momentary hype based on the Instagram generation. The only thing I would recommend is the little hideaway bar when you first enter the hotel. Good mix drinks and service.
Do not stay here
Hotel staff changed my reservation and didn’t inform me. Paid $1100 to sleep on an air mattress. Homeless people everywhere the moment you step out of hotel. Took 2 steps past front steps and homeless guy pulls pants down exposing himself. Not safe area at all. Not a boutique hotel just dressed up motel. Super slippery bathroom floors due to lack of doors. Staff was rude and very unhelpful.

Service was exceptionally slow for a Saturday brunch.
Although food was really good especially the salads. Beautiful space since it's in a hotel with the pool in the middle surrounded by tables.
This is such a lovely hotel
This is such a lovely hotel. I'm grateful for Ceasar, at the front desk who was especially friendly and helped me get an early check in to shower and rest after a long flight from NYC. I really enjoyed the text process directly to the front desk, it was helpful for several questions I had and items I forgot. I ate a nice lunch at the restaurant by the pool, the staff was delightful and the truffle fries were to die for. Ask for the Cara Cara sauce! Be aware that there is a restaurant in the middle of all the rooms that can be loud in the evenings. If you are on East Coast time and needing to go to bed early the noise is difficult to handle. It did all quiet down completely by 11pm but that is 2am for me. I would reco this hotel to anyone with the evening noise caveat.
Honestly, save your money.
The entrance is gorgeous and the patio is nice. But if you want to dine in by the pool, it feels like you're eating at a Motel 6. Overpriced and it's just a hype. Social media hyped it up. Besides the entrance, there's nothing special about it.
A Jewel in East Hollywood
A jewel adjacent to Thai Town, Little Armenia and the southern tip of Griffith Park. They took an old style motel and turned a very classy, original and elegant hotel, bar and restaurant. The vibe is outstanding. If you love to hike or walk, the location can't be beat as you are steps away from all the trails in Griffith Park. Highly recommend.
Awesome stay!
Beautiful boutique hotel in the mid le of Hollywood! The room was small, but perfect. The linens are super cozy and the bed was very comfy. We did not get to eat during our stay but would love to come back Highly recommend!
