Not Like Before
I hadn't been to Casa Vega in a few years and despite the many negative reviews I wanted to go again to see for myself. My friend ordered the chicken tostada, he claimed it was o.k., and would order it again, but I ordered the "Pescado Taco's" and not so good. There was NO flavor at all, no taste. I recommend NOT ordering this item. Save your money, try something else. I'll probably give the place one more try, but if they can't create a meal that tastes good to great with some real flavor, it'll be the last time I go there.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful food. And even better drinks.
First the “bad” just to get it out of the way; the portions are a little small compared to what I’d hope to get for the prices, which are high. For instance, I ate my entire entree plus half my wife’s that she was too stuffed to finish and I was maybe just barely stuffed. And I’m a skinny guy. But that’s sort of nitpicky. Maybe I was able to eat so much because it’s just such great food. The prices I didn’t expect because I really didn’t know what kind of place it was, so maybe I wouldn’t put that as a negative if I’d known what to expect. The chips and salsa they provide are good, the food is great, and the margaritas are WOW! We’ve all heard of the drinks that hit you afterward, and I’ve never found that to be more true than here. I had the CV spicy and the Tarantino, and though both were delicious (CV spicy was best though), I never tasted any alcohol whatsoever. I was willing to forgive them being weak drinks because they were so good. And then I finished my wife’s CV spicy… That 2.5 drinks got me buzzing way harder than I ever would’ve expected. It just took a while to hit. So if you’re drinking here and think you’ve been cheated because of the lack of alcohol taste, just hold on a bit. It’ll come around. Besides the food, it’s a beautiful but small place, quiet but lively, dim but vibrant. Get reservations. Parking nearby is tough to get so budget like $7 + tip for the valet.

Great night spent here, lovely food great staff. Go and enjoy your self. Great atmosphere. Good old Hollywood restaurant
Be the first to ReplyAmazing margaritas and iconic location!
Went here with friends for drinks not a meal and the margaritas were off the scale. Staying with friends nearby I clocked this was featured in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood so was keen to go. It didn’t disappoint, we were given a great table and the margaritas were amazing. Great experience!

We were seated outside on the patio at a table that was not ready to receive patrons (no place settings). Our waiter Evan arrived in a timely manner and took our drink orders, followed shortly by our food orders. When our food arrived, we had to flag down another server to give us silverware, but our dinners were already cold, so not very good, which is a shame because we have eaten here before-inside- and we had a totally different experience. It took forever to get our check and pay our bill. Disappointing.
Be the first to ReplyHistoric place, good margaritas, average food
First time eating here (we had gotten takeaway during the pandemic) and was seated on the patio, which was still cold despite heat lamps. The food was only okay. Burrito empanada was a little bland; vegetarian burrito was worse. House margarita was great though. Server was a little dismissive and forgot our water altogether. Plus, it was a pricey (and the prices on the online menus are not accurate--they're more expensive now). Sigh.

I used to love this place and enjoyed eating here every so often. I hadn’t been back since pre Covid lockdown. My mojito was terrible, didn’t even taste like a mojito. I used to think this was the place for Carne asada. Considering this entree is now $32, the meat shouldn’t have been so tough and chewy. The service was not great. My friends weren’t so happy with their meals either. I remember the starter tostada salad being really yummy. This time it was rather tasteless and disappointing. Why I have no idea. The only thing we all liked about our meal was the guacamole that was made at our table. That was yummy. We had only started our salads when they brought our entrees. Clearly they are trying to turn the tables quickly. Now seriously, when drinks are $15 and entrees are $32 etc, it seems you should have more than 45 minute to enjoy your meal. I’m afraid I don’t want to return to this restaurant I used to enjoy so much.
Be the first to ReplyNot Mexican Food--Maybe in the Day
My guest and I ordered two difference entrees, and in a word they were awful. I had a burrito and my friend had tacos. All were bland and tasted as if they came from a middle school cafeteria. Sorry about that.
Be the first to ReplyVery disappointing
I was visiting the area this weekend. First time at Casa Vega. There were 3 of us in the party, and while the welcome was friendly and the service was good, 2 of us agreed that the food was awful. I got the shrimp fajitas, $32.50…. 3 shriveled, old, tired corn tortillas rolled tightly in, and stuck to the aluminum foil. The outer halves of all tortillas were hard and inedible. The shrimp was bordering on hard and swimming in a bland watery liquid with a few onions and red peppers. I left most of it behind. The 3rd member of our party, our host, ate most of his food but wondered why his 2 guests ate so little! We won’t be going back.
