Delicious
Excellent service with an incredible wine list. The atmosphere was both trendy and warm. The venison tartare was a delicious first for me that I’d recommend to anyone.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful neighborhood gem
This place is truly a neighborhood gem. Great, seasonal menu, really well executed. Lovely servers. Comfortable, relaxed. The doughnut dessert was quite simply the best dessert I've eaten in the last 20 years - AMAZING.
Be the first to ReplyTerrific restaurant - go!
Absolutely wonderful restaurant - every dish was spot on perfect and thoroughly delicious. Food, service and ambience all terrific - wholeheartedly recommended
Be the first to ReplyThrown out
I had this experience recommended by a friend and all in all the food could have been worth the visit. Not great but I'd say good. However, I found the manager of the restaurant decidedly rude and all the pressure put on us by the staff to hurry up, constantly pressured to eat, pay and leave! Since we were struggling to finish the bottle of wine (£70...), the manager literally slammed our backpack on the dining table, inviting us to clear the table. Since I'm not happy with this way of managing the place, I'll keep my money in the future and won't set foot in it again.

Fantastic meal four of us had at Clipstone. Seasonal dishes in a great “local” atmosphere and with attentive. We all loved every dish and the wine, helpfully selected with server was very good. Loved the place and will be back.
Be the first to ReplyFood hygiene issue
alerting staff) after witnessing one of the cooks licking their fingers while hand plating food. The staff on the floor were very pleasant, but nothing makes up for poor food hygiene in the kitchen. Hence the rating.
Be the first to ReplyNot as good as it should be.
A pleasant lunch with family, but not as good as it should have been. We could see our meals stuck at the pass, long enough for them to be served warm instead of hot. It is lovely to see the open plan kitchen working, but not when you see kitchen hands mucking about with your food. In end we had to leave, just couldn't trust the food we were being served.
Be the first to ReplyDefinitely less than I expected
Clipstone got great reviews and we expected a better meal and experience. The service was slow, it took three asks to get a beer (guess they just forgot), and the portions were quite small. Three of us ordered the pumpkin pappardelle and it was gone in about four bites. The starters were also quite small. The whole thing took an hour and forty minutes without coffee or dessert. On the positive side, the food was tasty and the wine list is solid. Unfortunately we wouldn’t go back given all the much better options in London.

Great neighborhood spot in Fitzrovia. I was here this past Saturday and they graciously squeezed us in as a table of 4 despite not having reserved far in advance. Got a nice table inside at 6:30PM. Wonderfully solicitious service. I was with two friends and we basically had the whole menu. Had the olives, arancini and other snacks to start. Some well-made cocktails, a bottle of wine, all of the starters except for the soups, and some of the mains. I loved my ravioli dinner. Delicious. My friend had the deer and he loved it - I tried it and it was delicious. Shared a dessert. Thought this overall was an incredible meal in a comfortable restaurant. I'd happily return and recommend it.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food with a neighborhood feel
Clipstone has a lovely neighborhood feel. We had an excellent meal. Unpretentious with friendly knowledgeable service and beautifully prepared and presented creative food choices. We had a table close to the open kitchen which was interesting. There are also tables on the pavement outside which are nice. Happy to recommend Clipstone.
Be the first to ReplyA Perfect Little Gem
Visited this fabulous little restaurant in Fitzrovia in West London last night, very much understated as a "neighbourhood" restaurant, as the food was exceptional. Fantastic food, great service and good ambiance, with the extra benefit of the ultimate general manager and host, Will Davis!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent, for both food and service
We were very impressed on our first visit here: excellent food, which at £89 for one shared arancini starter, a vegetarian pasta, a cod dish, a carrot side dish, a shared dessert mousse (all delicious), and one beer seemed not at all unreasonable for the quality of the food. Service was exemplary, efficient and amiable without being pushy (and all the more so for our having been slotted in without reservations on the understanding that the table would be needed 90 minutes later). We would certainly return here on future trips to the area.

We had been previously and had a memorable meal. After a prolonged gap, due to covid, the memory was still there and we opted for a return visit. Not disappointed!! Basically, everything is just 'right'. Nothing more to say really except that we are looking forward to return visit on our next trip up to London.

I had a really nice meal! Excellent products, well presented, with a friendly and caring staff. Price is ok for London and the kind of restaurant. Place is small and crowded, but worth it
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely AMAZING
My friends took me out for my birthday to this gem. Such warm service. Delicious food and we enjoyed a long dinner. To top it up the restaurant game a card and a special bottle of olive oil! It was perfect. It's the care and attention that is rare to find these days. Will go back very soon. Thank you to the team at Clipstone.
Be the first to ReplyAn absolute gem!
A mere 10 minute walk from Oxford Circus is this hidden gem of a restaurant. Had Saturday lunch to celebrate a birthday, and it could not have been better. All the food was delicious, starting with lovely chewy sourdough bread and olive oil, some of the best arancini I've ever tasted and tempura parsnip and sage with a really tasty dip. And that was just the snacks! Staff told us that the menu is short and changes frequently to reflect seasonal produce, and they used it really well! Starters were equally good - salt-baked beetroot was sweet and tender with a delicate goat's cheese dressing and red chicory; the cauliflower and the Lyonnaise salad also got great reviews from my dining companions. For main, the better half enjoyed lamb chops, daughter loved the tagliatelle with venison ragu and my sea bream with brown shrimp in a buttery sauce and velvety celeriac puree was gorgeous. After a short pause, we managed puddings - and they were certainly worth it. Pear and candied walnut millefeuille had the lightest creme patissier, a yuzu and blackcurrant concoction came topped with fluffy Italian meringue, and the financier with chocolate sorbet was pronounced utterly delicious by a husband who isn't a great pudding lover! Front of house staff were very professional, and it was great to be able to see the smiling chefs working in the kitchen! We will be back...

Received excellent service and the staff made a special effort to celebrate a guest’s birthday. The food was delicious!
Be the first to ReplyClipstone - 5 star neighborhood restaurant, Fitzrovia/ UCL
We were celebrating our daughter's internship in London. When we arrived our table wasn't quite ready (group before us was enjoying dessert). Franscisco (server) and Will (manager) provided us with drinks and snacks as we waited at an outdoor table. Absolutely accommodating & created such a welcoming feeling! The menu was not extensive (4 entrees/ 4 desserts) but each dish was exquisitely prepared and the meal was perfectly paced. My husband and I had the venison, my daughter ordered the pollock -- we were each over the moon about our meals. Can not wait to come back next time we are in London!

We had a meal here on the 20th August 22, It was absolutely lovely, would definitely go back again. We turned up quite late and the kitchen was about to close but they managed to accommodate us, my wife had a pasta dish and I had the Monkfish, it was beautiful, thank you.

A fabulous, sensational lunch, with prompt, attentive, smiling service. One of the most memorable meals I have had in a long time.
Be the first to ReplyGreat, great place - but ban the smoking
I've been to the Clipstone around 10x now. I think it's one of the very best restaurants in London and prefer it even to its sister, The Portland. The food has always been delicious and the service both attentive and and friendly. It's the the only place I'll order desserts - they are a stand-out on what is a very reasonably priced menu. And I like the tables outside in the sunshine. It wouldn't stop me awarding the five stars this place deserves, but really you guys have to stop people smoking on outside tables. They are too close together to avoid smokers spoiling non-smokers' meals. Luckily on the sunny day we ate here recently, there was room to move when three people on the table next to us started literally chain-smoking. But otherwise there would have been a scene. I would ask the management to simply not allow smokers - there's not enough room for them by a long way and I think the staff are aware of this.

We booked based on the reviews and this certainly exceeded our expectations . We sat inside near to the open kitchen so could observe the chefs at work creating the delicious dishes. The menu is short but has plenty of interesting choice with each dish beautifully prepared , full of flavours and perfectly cooked. The staff are attentive so overall it was one of the most enjoyable meals we have had. I would definitely recommend visiting and look forward to returning.

A neighbourhood restaurant for us. Great seasonal menu. Expert cooking. Good wine lists. Attentive service. An amazing experience that we enjoyed thoroughly. Really very expensive for a cafe, however good. Tables are close together and the acoustics are dreadful (not helped by a particularly boisterous group directly behind us). Still five star for the quality of the food and service.
Be the first to ReplyDecent restaurant
Visited this restaurant last minute with a friend and would definitely recommend. The menu is a little small but offers some well prepared, creative food. Good quality ingredients which go some way towards justifying the higher price tag (but still feels a little on the expensive side). Staff are friendly. My only minor complaint is that the online booking requires you to confirm your booking by replying to a premium rate number, which doesn’t feel like great customer service
Be the first to ReplyGood food, but expensive
The welcome here is friendly and the staff are very helpful. Seating is a bit like a posh canteen, but not uncomfortable, although when someone at the table next door to ours decided to sit at the side of his table, rather than in his proper place, we felt rather intruded on. Food is edible and well cooked, but flavours are a bit disappointing. The cod roe nibble, was a bit like mild taramasalata, and my sardine dish had hardly any fish. Mains of lamb and cod were similar, well cooked but a bit underwhelming. Desserts were the high spot, with orange granita and rhubarb millefeuille, having some flavour of their ingredients. We spent £110 for two, no wine.
