Amazing food and amazing service!! Would highly recommend!!
Amazing food and amazing service!! Would highly recommend!! This has become my favorite go to restaurant in the Dayton area!!
Be the first to ReplyThis seems to be a staple in the area.
While I had a pleasant lunch here with co-workers, I wasn't close to being as wildly impressed as many. We made reservations and were seated immediately, so that was good. Our server was fine, but nothing special. Not wildly attentive. Their main menu was somewhat limited (the dessert menu was extensive, strangely) and in my opinion, overpriced. Paying $18-20 for a bed of standard mixed greens you get from a bag for a tiny scoop/chunk of protein seemed... Meh. I went with the crab cake croissant sandwich which was tasty and probably the most bang for the buck at my table. I was really looking forward to my crême brulée and it was just, terrible. The top was super burnt (I had to STAB it), got stuck in my teeth, and honestly one of the worst crême brulées I've ever had. I'm embarrassed for them. My co-workers seemed happy with their choices so maybe I just had bad luck? I don't know, change my mind, internet.

Absolutely a treat! Delightful ambiance! Consistently delish food. Beautiful presentation. Friendly and educated staff! Everything on the menu is great! My two favorites are the duck and the filet. Save room for the carrot cake!! OH MY GOSH!! I have that carrot cake every year for my birthday! The cocktails are delicious! Wine list is a great variety. I just cannot say enough about how wonderful this place is! A MUST TRY and a MUST REPEAT!!

Coldwater Cafe never disappoints! Everything is always freshly prepared and you can't beat the taste! The staff is very professional and friendly. I've never had anything there that I didn't like. This is always a favorite place for my Mom, Daughter & I to eat.

The wife and I traveled north for a 6:00 reservation the day before Valentine's day. Even though the not on the "day" it still delivered the romantic impact that the wife deserved. We arrived early and cozied up to the bar. I had a pear martini (excellent) and the wife had glass of white wine. We were seated promptly at 6 and the wait staff took good care of us for the rest of the night. I had the house salad, New York strip (medium rare) with sides of shrimp and mushrooms. The better half had the filet mignon, well done, with the tillcherry peppercorn glaze. All items were cooked to perfection. All items were delivered in a timely manner but not too quick so as to enjoy the atmosphere and conversation. Thanks for the attention and care.

Great food, atmosphere and service! It's a great perk that's close to home walking distance for Tipp.
Be the first to ReplyFood was amazing and the service staff is spot on.
Not one mixup or mistake. Very enjoyable. Five stars would have been accomplished if they had not tried to seat our reservation for over a month at a busy noisy table area at the first table in from the bar/waiting area. We requested the safe room and they accommodated us with a 17 min wait. All around great place to dine on a date night.
Be the first to ReplyThis resturant is a hidden gem.
The building is an old bank with a vault in the back which adds historical charm. The food is fantastic and the service is very classy. I would recommend the drive to Tipp City for this experience!!!!!
Be the first to ReplyMet family for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed it.
The menu had enough selections that all found something to their liking. We sat outside and the atmosphere and service were great. It's in the heart of Tipp City so plan a little extra time to check out the the various shops (all within walking distance).
Be the first to ReplyAlways excellent whether lunch or dinner.
We had lunch most recently on the patio. Awesome service by Bethann. Had the burger which was cooked to perfection at medium (hard for some places to do). Great time!

A local gem! I don't go often but when I go it's ALWAYS a treat!!! The service, ambience, food are impeccable! a must if you haven't been!
Be the first to ReplyHonestly, I was so excited to try this place.
I ordered some pasta.. and it truly smelled so gross, but I ate it anyways. That night (and the next day) I felt super sick to my stomach to the point where I thought I was going to get sick. Safe to say I won't try this place again.

We happened to be in the area and looked up the cafe and what they had to offer. It was a beautifully decorated place that once was a bank. The service was excellent and the food even better. Make sure you save room for dessert. I would definitely take the extra time to drive there just for lunch or dinner anytime.

Stopped for lunch after a Drs appointment on Millers Lane (North Dayton). Reservations recommended, & well worth it! We actually didn't have reservations so we set at the bar, and I'm so glad we did. This was our first experience eating here, and it was wonderful! Beer cheese soup as a starter. Homemade and delicious. Crab cake sandwich was excellent. I don't think there are any bad choices on their menu!
Be the first to ReplyWe called for a reservation on Christmas Eve day three
We called for a reservation on Christmas Eve day three weeks ago and asked for a booth. When we arrived, on time, for our reservation, we were seated in a space by the drink station/ and dishes. We walked by multiple open booths and tables. When we asked about moving our seats, the hostess just walked away.We we're ready to order and we're informed they were out of quiche, the special of the day...it was 12:10. They had been opened for an hour. When we questioned them, they said " they had sold out because so many customers were buying wholes quiches for Christmas morning ." So apparently, the people that come to eat do not count. Then our server disappeared for fifteen more minutes.I ordered the tasteless chicken salad, another person in our party of four ordered a very small salad. We all wanted the quiche. Our service was mediocre at best, and when we left, we passed more empty tables and booth. Not the Christmas Eve experience we expected.

Came here for a holiday dinner and was absolutely blown away. Every single dish was carefully considered, perfectly balanced, and yet somehow just the slightest bit surprising. I haven't had such a pleasant high-end meal in a while. And, we got to eat in the vault!I almost--almost!--hesitate to say what I had because I'm nearly positive everything at Coldwater Café is probably quite good. But here we go...Appetizers:- Mussels were super tender and served in a flavorful creamy but not heavy sauce. I only got a few as they circled the table but I could have eaten that bowl as my entree. - Brussels sprouts were similar to other fried/roasted preparations that are popular right now, but perfectly executed here. Really liked the addition of cashews and sesame seeds for a little extra crunch. - Fried Brie was a satisfyingly cheesy, melty, crunchy experience but the hot pepper jelly stole the show!Salad:- Arugula salad with pomegranate, goat cheese, pecans and acorn squash was fantastic! Perfectly dressed and well balanced and it actually made me like acorn squash. Entree:- Lobster crab cakes were great, large pieces of lobster and crab with green onion and not much filler. The corn remoulade was more like almost a corn purée but very, very good. Another one where the sauce nearly stole the show!Dessert:- Peppermint cheesecake. I split this seasonal dessert with my husband and it was still a generous portion. The cheesecake is fluffy, not too dense, but still plenty rich and creamy. Can't go wrong. Great service, fantastic food and a nice atmosphere you might not expect to find way out in Tipp City. It's worth the stop though, or even a special trip.
Be the first to ReplyAlways quality food and great service.
Tipp City is a beautiful little town and Coldwater is a great little gem of fine dining.
Be the first to ReplyFriends brought us here and it was wonderful.
Salmon and walleye were excellent as was the service Their custom cocktails were unique and delicious. They have a very good wine list too.
Be the first to ReplyTaste good.
Nice for adults. We used as a date lunch. Good atmosphere as well.
Be the first to ReplyFinding the Coldwater Café was a happy accident.
My wife and I had entered our car in the Trans Am Nationals car show in Downtown Tipp City (our '68 took 2nd-in-class!), and we were looking for a break from the sun after a hour of looking at cars when we spotted Coldwater's inviting outdoor seating. They have converted an adjacent alleyway into a fresh air dining area with some large sun shades, and without knowing what the menu looked like we were just hoping for something light and a cool drink out of the sun. We were disappointed to hear that the patio was all booked up, but they were happy to seat us at a high-top next to the front windows - great people watching with the car show right outside.Besides the giant car show directly in front of them, the restaurant was hosting a wedding party in their second-floor event room, and they also looked like they had a good number of regulars out for date nights. The place was packed and super busy, but the service was still great! Our waitress told us that she usually only worked the lunch shift, but that when the manager saw what was going on he called everyone to come in. That's a sign of a well-run establishment, and we watched the very organized staff move around without confusion or stress. Our specific service experience was flawless.Coldwater Café is in an old bank building, and they have preserved what I assume were offices for use as little private dining rooms, with the main dining area broken into a good-sized center room and then the bar with high-tops at the windows in front. They even have some tables in the vault. The whole place was well appointed and cozy.My wife and I were apparently on the same page, as we ordered the same things. We chose to skip the wine in favor of a single beer for me due to the heat and having to drive our baby home after the show, but I did check out the wine list for future reference and it was solid. We both started with the cold watermelon gazpacho, and it was wonderful with hints of celery and a diced basil garnish. Then we each had the pear and gorgonzola ravioli with a brie cream sauce. Creative and fantastic! The sauce had some cooked pear chunks (not sure if they were poached or sautéed), uncooked pear matchsticks, walnuts, crumbled gorgonzola, and small pieces of what I think were pork belly for saltiness. I can't say enough about how good it was. An absolute culinary victory. And then there was the bread pudding... We ordered one serving of the almond and cherry bread pudding to share, and it was life changing. Unlike every other bread pudding that I have had in the past, this was not dense, gooey, or overly sweet. It was so light while still being moist...how did they do that? The flavor was amazing, and the pudding was presented warm on a plate sauced with a salty-sweet butter concoction and fresh whipped cream on top. I'm not exaggerating here - it was really, really good. If you visit Coldwater Café and see this on the menu, do not hesitate. Our bill with two soups, two entrées, the pudding, and a local bottled IPA was just over $80 before tip. This is fine dining, and that's more than fair in my opinion. Good service, cute location, fantastic food. A solid 5 for me!
