Great service from the staff and owner.
The food was delicious and we enjoyed the wine selection. The lasagna offered on Friday and Saturday was wonderful. Make sure you have a reservation.

The food is to die for. The tortellini in brodo and the pasta with truffles... I dream about them

A great place for first timer to Italy because Colline Emiliane will grace you with not just Rome's specialties but cuisines from other parts of Italy as well such as the tortellini en brodo from Bologna/Modena. I came to CE with my husband on our honeymoon and was just delighted with the down to earth yumminesss of the pasta dishes and the generous antipasto plate. Definitely recommend the Tortellini en brodo and Tagliatelle alla bolognese.

The pumpkin ravioli was the star dish for us. We saw this dish featured in Bloomberg as a pro chef's favorite pasta in Italy, The rum cream dessert with caramelized nuts was ridiculously good . We loved this place so much we went back the next day. You definitely need to call ahead for a reservation.
Be the first to Replyfuego fuego ! goodluck getting a reservation.
i walked in and luckily the person cancelled so i was able to take their table! i got truffle gnocchi and milk braised veal with mashed potato. it was 10/10 i ate all of it the downside is that it's very small and has like 10 table so there is no way to get a seat and also people keep calling nonstop so all you hear is the telephone ringing to make reservations in advance i would come here again! it's in a random alleyway
Be the first to ReplyThe best meal we've had in Rome and across Italy.
If you get a reservation, it's sooo worth it. Food - for apps we got the proscuitto and fried procini mushrooms. My son (who never eats prosciutto or any 'deli meats' ate half the plate. We got prosciutto the next day somewhere else and he had two bites and turned it away. It was melt in your mouth delicate. My other son also wanted an additional order of the fried procini mushrooms. Pastas - bolognese, pumpkin ravioli and two orders of the soup dumplings. Not a spec of food left. The homemade pasta and quality ingredients speak for themselves. Initially, I thought the soup dumplings looked a little plain but the kids both ate their entire portion. Entree - veal. I was worried we didn't have enough but there was more than plenty of food. Dessert - chocolate cake and tiramisu. Both were amazing. The tiramisu was the best we've had. Service - perfect, very helpful, not too fast but also paced well. Ambiance - quiet but not pretentious. This place definitely gets five stars because every dish ordered was excellent. The quality of the ingredients, the simple presentation, amazing taste... I will definitely come back again and try more of the menu!!

We came back again this time with our kids and the experience is just as amazing! Made a lunch reservation a few weeks ahead. Started with the pumpkin tortellini and spinach ricotta tortellini and which the pasta is soft like pillows and the pumpkin is fresh and sweet. Then the polpette, fried veal w/ ham and cheese, and veal, all come with buttery mashed potatoes. Zabayon and chocolate cake were heavenly and also had the pistachio semifreddo. You must make a reservation (not sure how much in advance) but when we were there on a Friday lunch, owner answered the phone and told all customers no open tables through Sunday. For such amazing food, the price is really reasonable and the staff does not upsell or rush you at all.

We could not have a reservation for dinner so lunch would have to do. we were very satisfied with the menu as it included numerous vegetarian options. The service was friendly and efficient. the atmosphere relaxed and cozy. There was a mix of tourists and locals, including a few tables of business people - always a good sign. As expected, the handmade pasta was excellent.
Be the first to ReplyFabulosso! Extraordinary food, people, place.
In a town like Rome, it's hard to stand out. This does.

Food at best was average. There were seven of us. Everyone said the same thing about their meal. I had the duck and it was ok. Nothing about it makes this food memorable. Service. Waiter was a bit harsh. Like he was not so happy about taking the order when we only ordered the appetizer/antipasti and second course. Ambiance. Clean and very presentable.

Tradition, Family, Quality and ArtisanshipFour words that best describe the essence of Le Colline Emiliane. - book in advance, by phoneColline Emiliane is not a person, Emilia-Romagna, it's a type of cuisine, otherwise known as traditional Emilian regional Bologna cuisine in Rome. A short walk from the Trevi Fountain, this friendly trattoria was established in 1931. The the parents of current owners, sisters Paola & Anna took over in 1967. For more than fifty years hand making one by one each delicate pasta treasure perfectly and precisely wrapped for us to devour. You'd never know their hands and wrists ache because they are laughing, and smiling as they work, a true labour of love. Nearly ten years ago the family realized how much we would enjoy watching the ladies make fresh pasta and moved the "pasta laboratory" to the entrance of the restaurant. You can easily see the love the ladies put into each and every ravioli by the constant smile on their faces. The menu is rich in egg-based house-made pastas like tortelli di zucca (pumpkin pasta with butter and sage) and tagliatelle alla bolognese (long strands of fresh, perfectly thin, egg-based pasta dressed with a rich perfectly balance meat sauce). My Favorites* TORTELLI di ZUCCAHomemade ravioli stuffed with pumpkin in a butter sauce * Tortelloni ricotta e spinaciHomemade ravioli stuffed with ricotta and spinach with butter and sage* Vitello Tonnato A Piedmontese (Northwestern Italian) dish of cold, sliced veal w/ a creamy, mayonnaise-like sauce flavored with tuna and anchovies. It is served chilled or at room temp, generally in the summertime, as the main course of an Italian meal or as an exceedingly elegant antipasto for an elaborate dinner.* Tagliatelle alla bologneseHomemade tagliatelle in a ragu sauce.*Manzo bollito con salsa verdeBoiled beef with homemade green sauce. We got SO lucky! This restaurant lured us in with the reviews on Yelp. But we couldn't book a reservation because we did not have international phone service and once we were in Rome, they were fully booked a week out! However, we popped by to check it out as we were heading back to our hotel after a long day of sightseeing. It just so happened that some people did not show and they were happy to have us fill those spots! We had to wait a few minutes but it was more than well-worth it! The prices were unbelievable for the quality of food! I had the pumpkin gnocchi and my husband had the pumpkin ravioli. We split the veal with the sauce. The pillowiness of my gnocchi left me moaning in pleasure (along with the perfectly flavored cream sauce). And the truffles!!!! (Check out my pics!) The veal was delicious and I was a big fan of the ravioli texture. All that paired well with the Sangiovese wine the waitress suggested. We ended with a tiramisu and we felt SO GOOD afterward! Book a reservation here and just trust. It is a no-frills atmosphere but that won't even matter when you get that first bite of pasta in your mouth!!

Had a reservation at opening on a Thursday evening and there was a line of people hoping to snag a table for any no-show reservations- definitely book ahead! Convenient location, delicious food, great and prompt service. The antipasto platter for 2 is a can't miss- a great compilation of all of the appetizers on offer with an exceptional creamy cheese, several meats and a spinach and cheese pie (similar to spanakopita). Pastas are a must have, and if you can make room order the veal- you won't be disappointed. The pistachio semi freddo was also excellent, as were both wines we enjoyed. Highly recommend!

The food was delicious but they charged us $8 euros for sparkling water? Feel like we were scammed because we were tourists
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely incredible.
I had pumpkin gnocchi with truffles and they were pillows of heaven. We also had antipasto platter, which was incredible. Ordered antipasto platter, 4 pastas and two entrees. It was more than we should have fit 4, as pasta course was quite large. Raviolis were mind blowing good. More refined than a traditional trattoria. Great service, mind blowing food.

This place is a definite must!!! You have to book right away because they have 2 time slot seating options. EVERYTHING is homemade by the family and the service is great. It is one of the best meals I have had in Italy. You don't feel bloated or heavy after. I recommend leaving room for dessert! They are definitely full of flavor and fresh. The food is not salty, perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. They make delicious food from the most wonderful location on Italy that is known for the best food. ย Highly recommend this place!!!!!

Popped by the place with two good friends last week, on a whim. ย I'm absolutely head over heels for the place, yet another great restaurant in the heart of Rome! The owners are very clearly proud of the work they do, and (if they're not busy with other customers) will happily describe pretty much anything on the menu if you're the tiniest bit curious or unfamiliar with Emilian cuisine. The food is absolutely terrific, service is very quick as well - and again, having one of the owners chat with you and give you some of the history of their restaurant and their dishes really makes the time fly. ย We enjoyed an excellent dish of mixed cured meats and cheeses as our antipasto, and then had some terrific entrees shortly after (I had some fettuccine al ragu' bolognese, my friends had funghi porcini that were exquisite and surprisingly light). ย Despite it being our very first visit, they made us feel quite at home and perfectly comfortable. ย Next time I'm in Rome, if I ever want to impress any tourist friends of mine, I'll be sure to take them there. ย If you're in the area, give them a try!

A very flavorful and fresh Bolognese (which went very nicely with a glass of Sangiovese) , and excellent prosciutto. I was a little underwhelmed by the second course meat selection but will try something on it next time I come. My pasta, prosciutto (split between 3 people) and glass of wine came out to about โฌ25, which I was more than happy to pay after leaving the place very satisfied.

11/2017: Handmade pasta, top rated service, and they don't enforce the bread basket. Absolutely a great first introduction to restaurants in Rome. They are only open for lunch and reservations go fast! Definitely book ASAP if you are even slightly interested as they are usually full and turn everyone without a reservation away. On sundays their special seems to be lasagna! I was surprised to find that instead of cheese you typically find in a costco lasagna, their "cheese" is made out of butter and milk. The pasta layer is spinach based, and the sauce layers are bolognese sauce. Such a win win order because the most recommended dish is tagliatelle bolognese,
Be the first to ReplyWe came in without a reservation, totally because of ย luck.
It is an amazing restaurant with very high quality Italian style food. The pasta is wonderful! Employees are very friendly and nice. Worth to come back agin!

Oh my, Colline Emiliane most certainly lived up to all the hype. Since I did not have a reservation, I got to the restaurant and queued for about 20 minutes before the restaurant opened for lunch. I did not mind waiting outside as it was a very hot June day. Those that had a reservation were seated first followed by those that did not. We all were able to get a seat. The restaurant is very intimate and thus seating is limited. In less than 10 minutes of opening, the restaurant was completely full for lunch and there was already a line outside. I made it a point to eat rather quickly because there was a long queue outside of hungry patrons. The pumpkin tortellini with butter and sage was The best pumpkin pasta I have ever had. How could I skimp on dessert? I sat right next to the dessert display. Everything looked delicious so I had my server choose for me. One of the highlights was watching Anna (one of the two owners) stretch pasta behind a glass lab.
Be the first to ReplyThere just simply isn't a better place to dine than CE.
Delicious handmade pastas. View the ladies making flat and filled pastas of all sorts through a glass wall in the front dining room. My pick is the milk-braised veal. If you love veal liver, this is your spot. Amazing. Beautiful room and very warm, friendly service make CE the perfect choice for lunch or dinner. Reservation recommended, for sure. You'll feel right at home here.

Family owned restaurant tucked away on a side street near the Spanish Steps. Amazing fresh pasta made every morning (you can see it in the window) ย - the best we found in Rome! A reservation is highly recommended but you can get lucky if you show up right when they open either for lunch or again for dinner. The restaurant seemed pretty hectic but all the diners looked very happy. We ordered the tagliatelle with porcini mushrooms, spinach & ricotta ravioli with butter & sage sauce, and the duck l'orange. Everything tasted fantastic and really fresh. Definitely add this to your list if you are in town!

Decided to try this place based on a friend's recommendation. It did not disappoint! Make a reservation because there will be a long line for walk-ins outside. The cheese appetizer was so-so but the pasta was exquisite. Get the ravioli with sausage and spinach, that's by far the best pasta I've ever had. We also had the tagliatelle Bolognese which was also fantastic. The total was reasonable (65 Euros for two people). Overall great experience.
