Marvellous Dinner
The four of us celebrated a special birthday recently at Cooee and had a great night. Our pre dinner cocktails were skilfully made and looked divine. We all loved sharing our meals that were beautifully presented and full of flavour. We were well looked after by the efficient wait staff who knew the menu well and were also able to offer excellent wine suggestions. Cooee has a beautiful view over the Swan River and Perth CBD, with indoor and outdoor seating. Thank you for an excellent evening.

Looking out over the Swan on a Friday night, sun going down, Cityscape starting to glow, fisherman, boaties coming back & couples walking hand in hand, you get the picture, awesome. We had the Chefs menu and it was excellent, each plate was well presented, expertly cooked, great produce and most importantly, seasoned and it should be. Plate size was perfect for this menu and out of the 8 plates we had, everyone had a different favoured plate. The service was bubbly and professional. Wine is not cheap but if that's my only negative its not going to stop me going back.

Nice view pity about the food and service. Meals were small and ordinary. Radish salad had a few limp slices of radish and little else. Chicken was ok. My cheeseboard dessert was the highlight. Service was lacklustre. I asked for pepper and some time later was offered a small padโฆ.of paper. Wouldnโt go again.
Be the first to ReplyLovely view, poor service
This is a well located restaurant on the Swan River with views of the city. We had a table on the alfresco area on a lovely spring day. Parking was easy and close by. The disappointment was the service and over priced food. We had to keep trying to get the waiterโs attention to get a drink then to order then to get another drink. The venue was either busier than expected or short staffed. We ordered a main course each. We were all underwhelmed by the quality and serving size. The desserts were nice but not wow. This is obviously a venue that relies on itโs super location rather than itโs food to attract diners. We wonโt be back.
Be the first to ReplyReally good steaks but limited menu and distant parking is the drawback
Couldn't fault the service. The menu for mains is very limited - 4 choices, 1 vegetarian, 1 fish and 2 steak which may be a problem. We have friends who want to go but are now put off by the menu. The steaks were superb. Chips were extra but great. Roasted sprouts were amazing. Desserts were really good. The view is wonderful, although it was nighttime so would be fantastic in the daytime. Parking is a pain - $12 - payable even at night and is across a bridge and up stairs or a via a lift and a long, long walk albeit mostly inside the Old Brewery building. Worth going.
Be the first to ReplyReally Nice Place
We popped into this friendly restaurant one late afternoon after walking down from King's Park. We enjoyed the drinks and quickbites, oysters, fries and the like. They had a good menu to be fair, we only had a snack. Very nice airy place to relax in and I'd happily go back next time I'm in the area.

Very good restaurant and memorable/special enough to take guests visiting the city, as we did on this occasion. Itโs not without fault, but location is great on the Swan with city views. Menu a little short, particularly on the larger plates, and a couple of the small plates feel a bit underwhelming. The crisps are, well, crisps. Just a handful of plane crisps with some pepper sprinkled on top. For $6. I donโt know what I was expecting, but I guess Iโd hoped itโd be a bit more interesting! Service is always friendly, but a little disjointed. My scotch fillet was excellent. Weโve dined here as a family, as a couple, and with friends and for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Itโs solid.

Really enjoyed our experience at cooee. Great choice on food menu with added specialโs that the waiter told us about. All the food was well presented and super tasty, the special dessert lemon meringue pie was a highlight. Service was friendly and our waiter was so knowledgeable. Amazing view of the city and just a beautiful overall venue. Can recommend.

Business lunch with 10 people. We had the shared lunch. Amazing food and great service. 4 courses with 3 tasting plates in each course. I've never had a shared tasting plate before and was concerned there wouldn't be enough food but there was plenty. Wonderful views of the Swan River through the floor to ceiling glass windows.
Be the first to ReplyGreat location, friendly staff
Situated in the old Swan Brewery building, Cooee has fantastic views across the Swan River. It could possibly get a bit nippy if seated outside but we - three couples - had a lovely table inside. My wife and I arrived early and were seated on some couches and given a drinks menu. We selected our drinks but they took an eternity to arrive. Probably the only negative from a service perspective all night. When the other couple arrived we sat at our table and eventually ordered food, the hold-up being all of us as we spent too much time chatting. The menu is a tad confusing at first glance and appeared - from memory - to consist of entree dishes, share plates, mains (five), sides (three) and dessert (four). In the end we went with five dishes from the entree/share sections, chose our own mains, and later shared three desserts. Of the shared dishes, the warmed olives were rated a great success, the nuts were tasty but probably overpriced, the salumi was nice but a bit underwhelming (the accompanying 'mustard' was lovely), the kingfish was tasty as was the foccacia (two serves). For mains we ended up with two spatchcocks, three striploins and a barramundi. All serves were a decent size especially the spatchcock and steak. All dishes were highly rated by the recipients. My wife is a bit of an expert with steak and rated her striploin as excellent. High praise. The accompanying leaves were fine as was the broccolini. The standout side were the two bowls of chips we ordered. Super crunchy and fluffy. Top notch. We shared three desserts - cherry bombe Alaska (not the flaming variety), a strawberry sorbet and a fruit mince lamington. All were tasty and helped push us over the edge as far as how full we were. Drinks were good although a tad on the expensive side as is common with many restaurants nowadays. Service was excellent especially from the very helpful, friendly young woman from Brazil who served our table. Her warmth helped make our celebratory meal a success. Prices were generally good especially given the size of the mains, in particular. Recommended.

Iโve visited Cooee on four occasions. The food and wine has been terrific all four times. On two occasions the service has been very poor. The last it was this last weekend. Itโs such a shame as the venue is great and the food and wine is terrific. They either need to improve training and set service standards, or recruit more experienced staff.
Be the first to ReplyA bit disappointing: poor service
We will so looking forward to coming here, on recommendation from good friends. Our experience, however, was somewhat different. Nothing could be faulted with the food and wine, and smart dining space. However, the service left a lot to be desired. At best it could be described as patchy; at worst, it was absent and indifferent. Our plates were left dirty on the table long after we finished courses; staff were not to be seen (or made themselves unseen); I was repeatedly called "mate" by our waiter; and our bill took 10 minutes to arrive (on being requested twice). None of this is fatal in a casual dining establishment; but Cooee is not that and its pricing is not that. It charges premium price for a premium service and, on this occasion, it did not deliver.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Compared to similar price
Comparing the two restaurants lCooee and Caleb is very simple. One has it right from management down - and the other doesnโt. From being received at Cooee to leaving we were treated with warmth and friendly professional service. This service led by the front of house manager (a charming Taiwanese professional) was exemplary. Food was beautifully presented - ambience was very good offering quieter zones or vibe zones in a busy dining room. Itโs a young professional crowd of diners and the sane for the service team. Our server was a responsive and friendly English chap from Brighton on a trial 1st shift and a nice French guy - but the whole service ream were responsive and attentive to all service requests. We chose warm Olives and fresh bread with an aubergine dip. Both portions a good size that kep as fully engaged until our mains arrived. Fresh fluffy bread and salty and sharp olives - delicious. Mains were both sirloin steaks, perfectly cooked, no salt and pepper required. The steaks were served with delightful onion mousse /jam that was divine - sweet and a perfect balance to the steak. The steak was served sliced so the cook was perfect right through. We ordered the green vegetables and chips. The chips were in a huge bowl enough for at least 2 people and crunchy hand cut, hit crisp and fluffy inside. Perfect. The green veg was Sugar snaps, Green Beans broccolini and cooked perfectly crunchy and hot - an absokute joy We had one desert - the Chocolate Torte It was rich and light with a crunch to the pastry and the Richard chocolate was not too sweet which was perfect. I said the comparison was simple. Caleb had good service and so does Cooee. Both have nice dining rooms. Cooee made us welcome, Caleb is so up itself we felt we were being tested by a prissy chef to see if we were good enough to be there The food at Caleb is overpriced, poorly presented, badly cooked and no apology for inadequate cuisine. The menu is innovative but unfashionably pretentious The food at Cooee is well presented, well cooked with Seafood, Steak and perfect vegetable in abundance. We saw other diners meals and chatted about the menu- we heard the Barramundi and pork were both perfect But the primary difference is that Calebโs chef is so busy trying to impress - it misses the fundamental of happy customers eating good food in a pleasant ambience. Cooee hits the mark on all counts.
Be the first to ReplyDomething a bit different
Had dinner with 4 friends and found it very good ,although a bit confusing sorting out the menu . After much help from a very helpful staff member we sorted things out . Plenty of variety in on offer and we all enjoyed or night out of reconnecting with old friends

Wonderful meal in a slick riverside location. Interaction with staff is as you make it and we really appreciated the unobtrusive yet attentive service, as well as the care and concern of maรฎtreโd Joseph. Excellent food

There's not a great deal open in Perth on a Tuesday and so our search for somewhere to have a nice dinner to celebrate the end of our holiday landed us at Cooee. What a treat. The service was warm, friendly and efficient. The menu showcases some of the best produce available in Australia, Rose Mallee beef, Leeuwin Akoya, as well as native Australian flavours. Having to choose what to have for dinner was an impossible task because - to be honest - I wanted it all. Great produce doesn't always mean great food but the dishes were all beautifully prepared. The smoked beef tartare was a highlight. We did have a slight mixup with the mains we ordered which seemed to unsettle the wait staff but the mรขitre'd was very apologetic and we were brought a replacement dish. The Rose Mallee striploin was so buttery soft and had a lovely flavour. Cocktails were excellent - The New Moon, made with gin, honey, lemon and Geraldton wax, was smooth with the perfect balance of sweet and sour. Pemberton Spritz was enormously drinkable. Swan River strawberries with meringue shards was a nice way to finish off our meal but perhaps the weakest dish of the night. We waited quite a while to pay our bill and finally managed to catch the eye of one of the waiters. We had wondered if they were avoiding us after the main course mix up but it turned out the wifi had cut out and they were unable to process payments. The mรขitre'd was once again, very apologetic and it was arranged for us to pay via phone the following day. Parking, as other have noted, is tricky. There's only a handful outside the restaurant so you'll need to use the Wilson parking and cross over to the restaurant using the overpass. Despite the hiccups, my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will definitely return and recommend to our friends.
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful view but . . .
I made the mistake of not dressing in warmer clothes and was cold even though seated inside. The woman who served us was nice. I felt the menu for mains was pricey and limited. I order the Linley pork which came with a tablespoon of bland gravy and a tablespoon of crushed peas $40. In order to have a full meal you must order a side dish so ordered broccolini, snow peas veggie side $15. I could see the pork was cooked right but still seemed tough to me. Maybe the pig had an unhappy life? The meal was bland. The gravy was not enough for flavour. Maybe I've just not noticed in the past that pork is bland and was hidden by apple sauce.? Something I would have appreciated cos at least I would be able to taste something. My husband ordered the barramundi which he said tasted fine but serving was too small. He had one glass of wine (around $15). The best thing about this restaurant is the view but go elsewhere for an interesting meal.
Be the first to ReplyVery enjoyable Father's Day
Welcomed on arrival. We were awaiting our 4th guest and the wait staff visited every so often to check if we wanted drinks to start or a nibble Decided to splurge on an expensive wine, which the waiter proceeded to spill bits of it all over the table (hadn't used a cork sealed bottle for some time evidently). Very apologetic and made good with some free by the glass top shelf wine Menu was superb. We said we werent in a rush so they took their time and it was well worth it Will be back
Be the first to ReplyThe best breakfast experience weโve had in Perth
We came from breakfast on a Monday morning and it was so lovely. The location of course is beautiful. The service was some of the best weโve experienced in Perth and the food was delicious. We had the pancakes, Cooee Breakfast and the avocado toast. Yum!

Love the options on the Express Lunch menu. I had the pork belly and sirloin and they were amazing! Great atmosphere, service and you can't beat that view.

What an awesome night. We ate here mid-week as a group of six. The service was delightful and not overbearing. The food was delicious and great value for money, all topped with a stunning view of the city.

Stunning view, priceless, one of a kind. The food is another story, very small servings, overpriced, overdecorated, overpriced salads that are only leaves!!! Waiter says: You order very small amount of food,,, Yes mate!!! at this prices you are lucky that I ordered something!!!! Unless you plan on having a photo shoot do not bother about the food, Oh and all waiters are gay!!!!! Do not bother.... Stupid carpark does not accept cash. An absolute nightmare of a lunch

Had the burcher muesli and was not disappointed. The view of the swan river setting is ideal and scenic. Place is clean and the service was up to a high standard.
