4/5 by 👻 @Tracy R. on 09/12/2025

Food and service were a 5/5! Knocked one star off for the menu being pricey, but it is sea food in San Francisco. Had a great birthday celebration here on a weekday, was able to make and change the time of my reservation without any problems on the website. The restaurant is upscale and good for a celebration. Roast crab 5/5 - the butter and garlic made this crab soooo good. Tip: ask for it de shelled, that way you don't have to do any of work! We ordered 4 crabs for our party of 6 and felt like it was enough. Garlic noodles 5/5 - delicious. Shrimp fried rice was also 5/5 Shaken beef 5/5 - I surprisingly really liked the beef dish! The beef came out nice and tender and flavorful, although the portion was small for the price and it being a "family style" dish. We got a few desserts and id recommend the fried banana with ice cream and the baked Alaska! (Salted caramel ice cream with a charred cream on the top, and a cookie? Underneath!)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Culinary Love Letter to Crustacean San Francisco

5/5 by 👻 @Eugene R on 08/25/2025

Where Elegance Meets Legacy Few dining establishments in the world strike a chord so profound that they shape your relationship with fine dining itself. Crustacean in San Francisco is one of those rare gems; not just a restaurant, but an enduring institution of opulence, culinary mastery, and cultural memory. From the moment you step inside, Crustacean seduces your senses. The ambiance is nothing short of breathtaking; a symphony of modern elegance and timeless sophistication. The interior is a masterclass in refined design, where rich textures, graceful lighting, and architectural elements crafted from San Francisco’s own urban forest come together to create a space that whispers luxury in every detail. It is the kind of place where every corner has intention, and every detail feels curated for excellence. My personal relationship with Crustacean spans over a decade and a half. I first dined here as a child, dressed to the nines, only to be handed a blazer at just nine years old. That gesture, equal parts refinement and respect, etched an indelible memory in my soul. It wasn’t just about dressing up., it was about rising to meet the occasion. That evening, as my family delicately cracked into their crabs using silver tools, I chose to abandon pretense and sink my teeth in. And to this day, I still do — some rituals are sacred. I have since returned numerous times, and each visit rekindles that original sense of awe. While the dress code is no longer mandatory, I would advocate fervently for its return — particularly on Friday or Saturday evenings. A restaurant of such iconic prestige and atmosphere deserves an equally elegant clientele. There is something deeply harmonious about the interplay between a crisp tuxedo or flowing gown and the rich scent of roasted garlic crab in the air. Now, let’s talk about the food. Crustacean doesn’t merely serve dishes, it orchestrates culinary performances. The roasted garlic crab remains an absolute triumph., buttery, fragrant, and impossibly tender. Paired with their legendary garlic noodles and succulent prawns, this holy trinity of flavor is a rite of passage for any serious gourmand. The textures, the aroma, the balance it’s the kind of meal that silences the table in reverent appreciation. But this time, I plan to elevate the experience further. I will begin with one of Crustacean’s exclusive craft cocktails; a libation found nowhere else, designed to prime the palate and stir anticipation. From there, an appetizer, something exquisite and bold, perhaps a seasonal offering or a reinterpretation of a classic. My main course will follow, accompanied by a wine chosen by their in-house sommelier, a pairing that promises to enhance and refine the plate’s every nuance. Then comes dessert, where indulgence meets artistry, paired with a silky dessert wine. And to close the evening? A glass of celebratory champagne, a few photographs beneath the ambient light, and a toast to a restaurant that continues to define what fine dining should be. Crustacean is not simply a place to eat. It is where heritage, innovation, and elegance converge. It is a space that honors tradition while embracing evolution. It is, in every sense, a San Francisco icon and perhaps one of the finest dining experiences in the world.

First time here since it was a Tuesday and our usual place

1/5 by 👻 @Alysia W. on 08/10/2025

First time here since it was a Tuesday and our usual place Thanh Long was closed. Since they own both places I thought it wouldn't matter but boy was I wrong! The crab they brought smelled strongly of ammonia. They took it back and brought out another that was covered in seasoning and garlic shavings. When I got home I couldn't even finish it due to the ammonia smell and weird taste. I'm assuming that's why it was covered in garlic. For $80 I felt ripped off. Location is outdated and in need of renovation. Service was good but I won't be back. I'll stick to Thanh Long.

Highly Recommended I recommend making reservations in

5/5 by 👻 @Maureen J. on 07/21/2025

Highly Recommended I recommend making reservations in advance. This is a nice restaurant but you can dress casual. I recommended the crab and garlic noodles. The prawns are a great add on and are huge! I love seafood and this hit the spot. The food was delicious. Crab price is at MP. I also enjoyed the strawberry tequila cocktail. It wasn't too sweet and had a great flavor. Servers were friendly and professional. Bathrooms were clean. Restaurant feels upscale.

The restaurant is really nice a great place for special occasions. We went to celebrate my brother's graduation with a large group, and the service was perfectly on time for everyone. I highly recommend the garlic noodles and the crab, both were absolutely delicious! A memorable meal all around.

Food was good - we ordered several apps to share which were good ...2-3 were great... 1-2 were meh. there were 4 of us and we had one that is gluten-free. Our server couldn't tell us for sure if specific dishes were gluten free. We liked the rice paper shrimp roll and the lobster dumplings.

The food was outstanding as usual! The Drunken Dungeoness Crab and Garlic Noodles had my guest wanting more! The Crab puffs were also great but they didn't make the photo shoot as we devoured as soon as the plate arrived at the table.

My birthday dinner was VERY disappointing 1st the location

1/5 by 👻 @S G. on 05/18/2025

My birthday dinner was VERY disappointing 1st the location and the restaurant was dirty, waving fly's out of my face walking in, elevator did not work, windows were disgusting. I wanted some carbonation because I don't drink soda on a normal day tried both a Grapefruit and Sprite and they both tasted like flavored water. Ordered shrimp toast and it was 3 tiny pieces for $15.00, Special fried Rice which was in a child size bowl with 1 cut up scallop and two tiny baby shrimp I couldn't even see any crab $35.00, my son got Garlic chicken wings that were horrible and my Garlic noodles were just noodles... no garlic taste whatsoever $43.00 I also did not enjoy a gentleman literally walking by back and forth staring down at the table very closely at that ??? Did not know who he was or what his job is but it was uncomfortable. This establishment has been around for decades and they should be able to upgrade the place, at least clean the windows.. no parking then they added their own Gratuity of $34.00 dollars!

You come here for the crab.

3/5 by 👻 @Jason Y. on 04/30/2025

Lots of other stuff like noodles and such. Chinese style food. It's quite pricey for what it is. There used to be long waits for this place. Not sure if it lost it lust. It's been here for quite sometime and has a sister restaurant in the sunset. They need to improve the service. Unique crab experience for a try. I may not be back. So many options in the city.

What an original

4/5 by 👻 @Benjamin on 07/06/2024

The whole crew was very friendly and paid attention to their customers. The food itself was really fresh and a nice selection of it. The prices are mid / high but definitly worth it. The only negativ thing from my point of view are the extremly dirty windows of the restaurant. It really costs the last point. But yeah go there definitly!

Hidden gem in San Francisco

4/5 by 👻 @ChuckTimetraveller on 07/06/2024

A wonderful hidden spot. From the outside it does not appear like a place you would randomly pop in. But when arrived on the first floor you can smell the scent of delicious food. The tips are included, waiters and crew are all very friendly and helpful. One reason to go there would be to enjoy the roasted crab with garlic pasta. I would say this is a locals place. The only negative aspect is that the tables are a little sticky. Feel free to discover this place. It is highliy recommended by me. And the food is delicious!

Great butter roasted crab with garlic noodles!

4/5 by 👻 @Razzi-B on 05/14/2024

It's not the most inviting location or facade but it's worth a visit purely for the roasted butter crab & garlic noodles, which are wonderful. It does have a broader & varied menu & other items we tried were nice. Drink selection is also pretty good.

This CRUSTREAN LOCATION IS RACIST

1/5 by 👻 @W S on 06/15/2023

This CRUSTREAN LOCATION IS RACIST! I have been dining at Crusteceans Los Angeles for years. I was so excited to find out there was a location in SF. I called the restaurant to see if there were any reservations I also asked how long they had this location immediately the manager cut me off and said I don’t have time for this are you coming in or not ! I was completely thrown off but thought maybe he was busy and it was cultural difference. I get to the location we were asked to sit down until our table was ready the same manager I believe his name is Klee not sure exactly but he is at the front helping all the customers. He kept telling me there was 20% gratuity added to every order, multiples times before being seated he stated this as if this was going to make me want to leave the restaurant. He kept repeating this as if we aren’t aware of the policy. I began to notice he only did this to African American customers. I counted 3 African American groups he did this too. Also, I noticed that when white customers walked in he seated them in a different area. He sits black people on one side of the restaurant and white/ Asian on the other. This made our dining experience very uncomfortable. A large African American party walked in and obviously they sat us on the side they sit us and I heard the manager talking negatively about them saying they would be loud And they better only pay with one card. I understand every restaurant has there policy’s but it is never okay to racially profile anyone. I will probably never dine at any of there locations again. On top of that the food was terrible the crab was oily and the noodles were not cooked properly!

Very Attentive Staff! (Visited May 2023)

5/5 by 👻 @IKOUKA on 05/27/2023

We were able to make our reservations through Yelp. Which was very convenient. Once we checked-in, we were seated right away. The staff was very attentive, and their attention to detail was spectacular. They refilled our drinks frequently and once we were done with a dish, they quickly cleared the dirty dishes. Their timing was perfect as well. From giving us ample time to settle in, to looking over the menu, and then placing an order. Once we completed our appetizer, like I said, they quickly came around and cleared the dishes and switched them out for our entrees. They bought extra plates for sharing and additional bowls for “trash” (used to throw the shells into). It felt like they anticipated what we needed and delivered it without us asking for it. The food was very delicious. We ordered the tiger prawns, fried calamari, garlic noodles, and lemon grass chicken. As other reviewers have mentioned, they automatically add their service charge into the bill so additional tipping is optional.

Each posting on AppointmentTrader shows you which user submitted it and along with that provides a trackrecord of that user which indicates how much experience the user has and how many percent of their transactions resulted in them issuing a refund.

If there is no user posting that fits your schedule, you can bid on your preferred time.

Let's say Peter has a great morning and decides to take his three friends to Crustacean San Francisco at 6 PM the same day.

He checks the restaurant's website and sees that no reservations are available. He then looks at the Crustacean San Francisco page on AppointmentTrader, but finds that there are no user postings either.

That's where the community-driven bid process comes in.

Peter can place a bid on AppointmentTrader, which serves as a reward for any community member who chooses to work on securing the reservation. AT then notifies experienced users who may be able to help.

Step-by-Step Process
1.) Setting a Reward (Bid)
* AppointmentTrader uses historical data to recommend a reasonable reward amount for securing a reservation - let's say $100.
* Peter really wants to go, so he increases the bid (or reward) to $200.
* At this stage, the reservation does not exist yet.

2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* BraveCloth47, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's bid.
* BraveCloth47 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to BraveCloth47 for any questions Peter may have as BraveCloth47 user fills the bid.

3.) Finding the Reservation
* BraveCloth47 now uses their connections at Crustacean San Francisco to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If BraveCloth47 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.

4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, BraveCloth47 receives the $200 reward which is credited to BraveCloth47's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at Crustacean San Francisco!
* As with all transactions on AT, disputes and no-show fees are handled through the platform's community-driven resolution system. Users with a strong track record are incentivized to fulfill bids successfully, and community members can report issues to maintain trust in the marketplace.
