This place rocks!
Our server Maria was simply perfect! Lee was amazing! He greeted us at the door and ran our food! He was everywhere! His chit chat was so damn charming! The food was incredible! The atmosphere was unlike anything in Tampa! Live music as well! Can’t wait to come back!

Overall we all had a very good experience. I felt it started off on a sour note before we walked in the door. Evidently, the host is instructed to tell you when the next reservation is for your table, stating rather clearly that we were expected to leave by that time. Right off I felt like we were almost a nuisance to them. Luckily, our waiter Nick was superb - attentive, interactive and very professional. His treatment almost made me forget that bad first impression. The food overall was very good with one surprising exception. I ordered the mushroom risotto that had about 1/2 cup of pepper in it. Never did I imagine I wouldn't be able to eat a simple mushroom risotto because it was too spicy. I ate what I could, throwing away most of it. The highlight for me was the octopus appetizer we shared - tender & delicious. Two of us are big on gin and one (me!) is definitely NOT a fan of gin. Nick took the time to listen to what we all liked & picked out perfect cocktails for all of us drinking. I still can't believe I had a gin cocktail & enjoyed it!
Be the first to ReplyExtremely Poor Service
Last night we were there with friends for our monthly night out with friends. We try a different place every month and we had read great reviews of CW's Gin Joint. While the food was very good, the drinks menu unique, and the decor interesting, our whole experience was ruined by the very poor service we received. It became obvious that our server did not care about us. Eye contact made him go the other way. Long waits were for everything from ordering to food delivery. He did not offer us more drinks, and the water glasses were not refilled. The runners who delivered the food started out okay, but soon quit trying. Dessert was delivered with a "fly-by" slam-down drop-off. Perhaps s we should have expected something was up when we were told on arrival that our reserved table had another seating 2 hours later, and if we were still there we would be moved to the bar. It didn't happen, probably because the bar was packed, and there were available tables. Why were we treated so poorly? I'm guessing we did not fit the age demographic. I'm sure the establishment's management will say the standard reply "short on workers, bigger than normal crowd because of the holiday season, etc." Maybe it was our white hair, and we did not fit the preferred demographics of Gin Joint’s desired customers.

Wow! This is a wonderfully decorated restaurant/bar with a 30's vibe. Great drink & food menu. Service was exemplary, no rushing, great recommendations. The seafood pasta was soo good. Homemade pasta with plenty of shrimp & small scallops. The filet was cooked perfectly & baked potato was huge! Great selection of drinks & fantastic gin selections. Highly recommend.

Be the first to Replygreat drinks, food ok
It's one of the many unique bars/restaurants in Tampa and certainly worthwhile visiting. But do need to add that the food didn't jump out to me. It is however a great place to go for drinks

From the valet out front to the host/hostess desk and the gentleman that open the doors you will be transformed. A vibrant atmosphere, music, talk and laughter. It’s a throwback to good times and great service. Never rushed or hurried for drinks or food you’ll sit back relaxed and overwhelmed. Service was spot on and the drink offerings plenty and excellent food choices. A decor with numerous art work and exposed brick walls reminiscent of old Tampa and speakeasy.
Be the first to ReplyBest Place for a Date Night!
This place is something super special, from the cocktails to the food! The art deco vibe is amazing, and the jazz music makes this the perfect couple's dinner and drinks restaurant. Not a place you would bring kids but defiantly a date night out!
Be the first to ReplyGreat Cocktails, not so great food
We had 2 friends in from out of town and have been wanting to go here for a while. I made the reservations a few months ago. The good, The cocktails were very good and our server was really on point and extremely friendly. Very cool atmosphere and I can see why they fill up soon. The bad, Three out of the four of us were super disappointed with our food. Risotto was super bland and over cooked to the point of not being edible. My dish the duck was nothing to write home about very average. Catfish was ok but the grits where mush. The Filet was cooked perfectly and was the winner of the night. All and all it is forgettable.
Be the first to ReplyWell crafted drinks in a beautiful venue by a friendly staff...
We wandered in here on a friend's recommendation and I'm so glad it was recommended. From the door, where we were warmly greeted and the door was opened for us (no stiff awkward greeting or "oh, you don't have a reservation?" here)...The place is well decorated and has a really great ambience. The bar is is first come first serve and the floor is by reservation only. We got lucky and snagged two seats at the bar. The bar staff was very friendly and accommodating, very service/hospitality oriented to us and to everybody around us. Despite the venue being very quality, there was no pretension. Both our drinks were perfectly balanced, our favorite was "What Season Is It." I was surprised to find they have a huge food menu, so we ordered a couple snacks. The presentation of all food and drink that I observed was spot on. I thoroughly enjoyed sitting at the bar and watching the bartenders at work. I look forward to a return visit.
Be the first to ReplyA speakeasy gin joint with style.
We received a very warm welcome “speakeasy pub” style thanks to the man at the door. We liked the atmosphere, the chandeliers against the block ceiling- very nice & cozy. The interior was really nice. We had a gin flight - it was very good, but I would appreciate more fever tree on the side. And because this was my first gin flight, I was not used to how strong gin is by itself. The food was good - get the shrimp with grits - that was the best!!! The waiter was pretty good. And the music - the live music - was outstanding & really made this whole evening a wonderful date- -hats off to the singers: a man and a woman. 💕

I don;t know how I missed this place but on a lark last week, I stopped in even though I was dressed inappropriately. When I saw how beautiful it was inside, I felt like I should turn around and leave, but the staff all made me feel quite welcome and called my attire “casual Sunday clothes”. So happy I stayed. Now they are not going to get rid of me. The decor is GORGEOUS—chandeliers, fresh cut lilies on the tables, and even the music was perfect. The bar is clearly the standout...what an impression. Was seated at Nick’s station—the guy knows his stuff but doesn;t clobber you over the head. Made great recommendations and was attentive but not interruptive. The specialty drink menu had lots of things I wanted to try. Went with the Love Me or Leave Me this time—mezcal, reposado, cinnamon, pomegranate and citrus. Mmm! The dining menu is really diverse and although the prices are a bit up there, you actually get ample portions for your dollar. I had the endive and beet salad and a side of grilled oysters, which were a special that evening. Be sure to ask for the specials—a grouper dish not on the menu was also a real hit at the table! If you don;t see something you want on the drink list, the bartender will listen to your flavor profile preferences and whip up something just for you! Spot on! Do yourself a favor and come here! Great atmosphere. Great drinks. Great service. And I was never made to feel like I didn;t belong even though I wasn;t quite dressed properly (in my own opinion). It’s a great reason to get a little dressed up and enjoy an evening out!
