DAMA Fashion District Restaurant & Bar Los Angeles Reviews from The Last Year
Yummy except they use peanut oil and they should mention in
Yummy except they use peanut oil and they should mention in sooner. I would like to avoid using my epipen.
Service here is great.
They are very attentive and will give you recommendations. Ambiance here is really nice. Cute place to go with your girls or even a fun first date. The menu is smaller plates and a few large plates so great for big groups to try everything. The crispy potatoes were soooo flavorful and crispy. Recommend this. Lamb chops were also flavorful and great char. Aguachile is served with tostadas and is very refreshing. The arepa was good but pretty messy to eat so keep that in mind if sharing. Price is a little higher for portions but it is DTLA. Quality was spot on though. Overall Would come back :) Drinks aren't too strong. They were ok.
I've been here three times.
All times have been amazing. Been here for dinner and brunch. !
Great food, Adam bartender is great! One of the best
Great food, Adam bartender is great! One of the best mojitos I've had! We couldn't get a table without a reservation, sitting at the bar we enjoyed the food/drinks the same maybe even better due to the personal attention! Romantic modern ambiance.
PARKING (4/5): $14 VALET or METERED street parking on SAN
PARKING (4/5): $14 VALET or METERED street parking on SAN JULIAN STREET. FREE after 6pm. AMBIANCE (5/5): Indoor/Outdoor cool summer vibe. Elegant, yet trendy. Perfect spot for a date night! String lights to set the mood & heaters along the patio so you don't get cold once the sun goes down. FOOD (5/5): $27 HALF DOZEN OYSTERS: they were small, which I loved. Came with mignonette, fresh horseradish, hot sauce & cocktail sauce. A perfect starter. $24 AGUACHILE: my favorite dish of the night! I've never had aguachile with kanpachi (fish) before & loved it! Pretty much a crudo. $19 WHIPPED BEANS: also one of my favorites for being so unique! Who would've thought to whip beans & throw some cheese & crispy pork on top. AMAZING! $18 CRISPY SQUASH FLOWERS: although I usually love cheese filled squash blossoms, compared to the other dishes, this was just OK. $15 FLUFFERNUTTER: it was WAY bigger than I anticipated. We could only eat a few bites and then threw in the towel. The outside was like a thick & dense donut? Filled with marshmellow fluff & not much peanut butter & banana. I should've just scooped the inside. I'd pass on this. We both didn't like it. SERVICE (4/5): Our waiter was helpful in telling us his favorites since this was my first time. They brought the dishes promptly, but honestly he didn't check on us much unless we flagged him down. Was super nice! OVERALL (4.5/5): LOVED the food here! Except the Fluffernutter, which I've never had and it just wasn't for me. I will definitely be back to try the rest of the dishes on their menu.
Love the music and the ambiance of this place.
The food its really really good. I love the service as well and it's really a cool place to hang out with friends or your love one.
Perfect spot for dinner before a show.
Amazing food and service. Whiskey AND tequila flights.
The best spot for small plates and a great vibe! i love
The best spot for small plates and a great vibe! i love the gluten free bread as a celiac. Here's a celiac friendly menu. They are so accommodating! The area is a bit iffy around it but they do valet parking for you which is great.
Great food and ambience.
The service is great! Must try the whipped beans yum!! Their cocktails are delicious . Valet service is so convenient- will definitely be back!!
Religious watcher of Tournament of Champions here (all 5
Religious watcher of Tournament of Champions here (all 5 seasons as of the time of this writing!) I went down a rabbit hole looking into restaurants of the Chefs from the West Coast and was happy to find quite a few. Dama is one such restaurant from Chef Antonia Lofaso! Her other restaurant Scopa is amazingly delicious as well! The following rankings are after 3 separate visits, and are time tested. Following are listed in ranking order! 1. lamb chops $35; 5 pieces of tender, succulent, rich, not gamey lamb chops, you won't regret this! 2. whipped beans $19; bean dip, perfect canvas for the fried chicharrones, deeply addicting; reminded me of hummus in terms of texture, to die for! 3. crispy potato $18, I'm sure these things are cooked 3 ways to achieve this amazingness; boiled, baked and fried! covered in chimmichurri sauce 4. corn $18, served on popsicle stick, there's something addicting about the green sauce; I don't know what is in it, except that you need to get it! 5. empanadas $17 - 5 pieces of oh so flakey pastry and the filling oh so tasty, we ordered a second round! 6. calamari $20 - fresh, not oily, however seems like the Italian parsley could have benefited from a lighter touch 7. seafood tostada $22 - solid, fresh, nothing particularly special (only because all dishes that came afterwards made this pale in comparison and forgettable) 8. crispy squash flowers $18 - fresh and definitely crispy; last here only because I'm lactose intolerant, so I can't have many of these There is valet parking $14, recommend as this isn't located in the best area. There is street parking available as well!
Fraudulent Credit Card Charges
Make sure to check your credit card statement. Made a reservation here on open table for 530. Arrived to an empty restaurant and checked in with the hostess. Given the place was empty, our party elected to sit at the bar. The hostess brought us menus and directed us to our seat. The service was decent albeit somewhat slow given there was no one else to attend to. Would skip the little gem salad. Tasted like burnt lettuce with lackluster flavor. The following day we realized the restaurant had charged us a no show fee of $50, even though we obviously made our reservation time. When we called to have the charges reversed (frustrating to have to do) we were told we would have to provide proof we had actually been at the restaurant. Very rude hostess and manager that offered no apologies for the mistake on their part. Terrible.

Prepaid Reservation Fee

When you sell a reservation that has a prepaid fee AT takes a commission on that fee. This doesn’t really make sense because it’s an expense the seller incurs not part of the profit that is shared.
For example:
Carbone NYC fee to book table for 2 is $108.88
If you sell it for $200 on AT you get $140 from them.
Your net profit is $31 and AT collects $60 in fees.
It would make more sense not to charge commission on the upfront fee as this creates a disincentive and results in higher costs for buyers.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
