Daphne's London Reviews from The Last Year
Thursday dinner at the counter
We miss the old Daphne’s I come to London twice per year with my husband Lundvik, Daphne’s became a must for the last few years until now… We used come for the lovely ambience of bartenders such as Salvatore who sadly left, at that times we had fantastic times plus great interaction during last visits One of the reason we come to London is Daphne’s that’s how much it meant for us This time our visit felt worse than Nando’s ( only service wise ) I do apologise to say than We were not greeted at all, we had to ask for water, we had to ask to order our food not even mention to top up our wine or water, literally 0 service at all through the meal The staff felt like they were doing a favour being there… The bar staff had zero interes at all, we have even noticed other seats next to us they were not given proper service Other staff had plenty of time to consume bread in that little corner in front of the people The food was good as always however it did not make up for the atmosphere A big shock for us on this occasion, not the usual place known for Warm wishes Marit, Lundvik
Salt can be added, it cannot be taken away!
What was the pasta chef thinking? Salt can be added, it cannot be taken away and we had to tell them this twice when our linguine vongole came to the table so salty it was inedible. They did take it off the bill which was good but the shame was we were back at a favourite old haunt that seems to have lost the plot when it comes to the Italian basics. Salt is bad for us they say. So why put so much in it renders the dish inedible. Shame.
Grazie Matteo
I believe that we might have found one of our new favourite restaurants here in London, perhaps the most family friendly place we’ve stepped foot in. Authentic Italian cuisine and amazing staff such as Matteo who will go above and beyond for you.
Check the bill
We know this restaurant well and as many do it has had its ups and downs. Today the food was ok but the shock came at the end of the meal. We had been sitting at the bar and when the bill arrived we were a little taken aback when the card machine was pushed forward with the bill. Having checked the bill carefully they had added an extra bottle of wine, which with service charge added a £100 to the cost. When this was pointed out there were no apologies and certain surly looks. BEWARE!
Lovely food, very nice people but no wheelchair accessible toilets
Daphne's is an institution, part of the Caprice 'stable' with food and service as good as Scott's or Sheekey's. If you are a wheelchair user, make sure that you don't drink too much as there are no accessible loos! The staff were clearly embarrassed by this but of course it's not their fault. It would be lovely to receive a reply to this review and even better to return in a few months time to see that it had been acted upon.
Very fine Italian in London
The conservatory has a lovely, cozy and romantic vibe. The food and service were just lovely! This was our first visit to London, and we had a 7:30 reservation. We had to wait a bit at the bar, and enjoyed that part of the experience as well. Beautifully made craft cocktails and friendly service. A great evening out! Kudos to the staff!
Very average
Beautiful venue and decor, very friendly wait staff (apart from front desk who came across intimidating) but the food was very bland and extremely overpriced. The wine was poor at £14 a glass I expected better. We just returned from Rome where we could get a litre of wine for €6 which was ten times better. I think it’s just the place to be seen. Wouldn’t go again.
Top Restaurant and Quality Food
Only just got round to writing my review but what a fantastic restaurant this is. The restaurant is a short walk from our home and we enjoyed a Sunday lunch with a bottle of wine at the end of summer. Great service and very high quality food. I would recommend the Chicken.
Excellent
A really lovely place, great atmosphere and really friendly staff. We sat at the counter and had plenty of room, the food was gorgeous and plentiful. We can’t wait to go back and do it all again
such a big marketing scam, such an average place.
nothing special and a total waste of money and time
Happy Celebration
First visit to this restaurant, for a lunch time celebration . Warm welcome and good all round ambience, nice decor, etc. Service throughout was excellent. Had the tagliatelle with wild boar Raghu, which was delicious, aswell as the pork/veal meatballs with roast potatoes which were very tasty. Enjoyed the chessboard - all famous Italian cheeses, served with honey which was a first for us but no fruit or celery, which was a little disappointing. Overall, very enjoyable and almost full, which added to the atmosphere of a happy occasion.

The food is delicious but the waitresses aré dreary and NOT FRIENDLY. Honestly, a robot would have more personality. The decor is terrific, the customers are beautiful people and the staff were depressing.
Definitely a place to see and be seen.
Booked via opentable and, as americans, were treated dismissively by hostess and server. Food was very good but not outstanding given the expectations. Three dining rooms with clear pecking order. Suspect we may have had a different experience if we had booked via the concierge at our 5 star hotel - lesson learned. Wine list was limited for this type of restaurant.
Very limited food menu, huge drink menu, uppity staff
Very limited food menu, huge drink menu, uppity staff (especially the blonde hostess) and mediocre service. We went there simply because of the name. We should have listened to the concierge at our hotel who tried to warn us off. We had a reservation for late in a Friday night. They sat us next to a huge dinner party. We couldn't hear each other talk and it was quite warm. It's unseasonably cool right now but when you pack people into a small restaurant you should have some sort of ventilation. Couldn't take dessert to go because we were told they don't do take away. Later that evening my husband was sick from his meal - his chicken must have been undercooked. Nothing special about this place!
Pure catfishing! Booked way in advance for December when
Pure catfishing! Booked way in advance for December when decor is up, a birthday dinner & got put in the crummy section that isn't decorated. We had to sit there and stare at the decorated room like peasants we are. Our waiter seemed like he was having something going on in his life, wasn't mad about that as people have the right to be human - but it was odd having to tip toe around it. Food was just so so, minimal vegetarian options (which again is fine just letting folks know). I would not recommend this beyond popping in for a cocktail and getting your instagram pics. The bar was decorated cute, hostess was super friendly, manager stops by ask how meal is etc. overall I very disappointed with the experience and it wont be on my dining list again.
Celebrated our wedding anniversary while in London.
What a find: great restaurant. The ambiance, the service and food were fantastic, along with a delicious Ripasso.

Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.

Can come from a lot of places, people who don't want to get charged their cancellation fee or people who just have them and cant go.

almost all restaurants aren't affiliated with AT and I'm guessing it's mostly people wanting to not pay cancellation fees.
