Absolutely incredible. Sommelier, wait staff, management and food created an evening which was unforgettable. I love steak, shrimp and good wine. Went to Ruth’s Chris the night after and was disappointed. The bread, wine list and food here is different level. I’m a Ruth’s Chris fan boy..or was until I went here. It’s genuinely exceptional.
Be the first to ReplyWorst recent restaurant experience
I was in San Diego for several days and this was the worst restaurant I visited. I’ve been to several others in this chain with excellent experience. What a disappointment in San Diego! The steaks were disgusting. Grizzly and horrible flavor. Service was terrible. We couldn’t get drink refills

Excellent, just excellent. Everything about this restaurant was just outstanding. The service, the food and the ambience. Had the ceasar salad and the petite filet and we shared mashed potatoes and the brussels sprouts. Just enjoyed the experience immensely!

My husband and I were in San Diego for a few days for our Anniversary. We always try and find a really nice restaurant for our "Anniversary Dinner".
We often stay at the Residence Inn next door and admire the beautiful views the restaurants have to offer at the Intercontinental and once we looked at the on-line menu and saw that Del Frisco had Wagyu Steak, we booked a reservation.
We had a 7:00 reservation so we could have a view of the sunset. We were seated early and had a great view of the harbor and the sunset.
Our server, Seth, was outstanding!!! He was friendly, attentive, and made recommendations upon our request.
Husband and I each ordered the Wagyu Steak, shared the au gratin potatoes and wedge salad. For dessert we had the cheesecake and the butter cake. The food was amazing! If you've never had Wagyu Steak, it's a must try!
The only thing I would suggest for improvement would be the volume of the music. The music was blaring so loud at times through the speakers that my husband and I almost resorted to texting each other. We mentioned it to our server, who mentioned it the manager. You could see they were working on getting it adjusted.
We very much enjoyed our celebratory dinner here and would return in the future!
Scenic!
This was an okay experience. Since we were staying in the hotel, and knew of Del Frisco's reputation, we wanted to dine here. A bit disappointed. First, it was tough to access coming from the hotel. Then, we felt like we were inconveniencing the staff to seat us. We were very tightly spaced. Food was good, but not worth the price. The wine and the sommelier were fantastic, but pricey.

Celebrating our far-too-big-a-number anniversary with a trip to San Diego, we stayed at the Intercontinental (great hotel!), so Del Frisco's was an easy choice for dinner. The ribeye was delicious, though next time I'll skip the $7 upcharge for the truffle butter. Caesar salads were delicious, as well, but the star of the show turned out to be the butter cake for dessert. One of the best desserts I have had.
Service was very good, even though we had requested upstairs seating, which meant the waiter (Eric) had to keep going up and down the stairs. (We were the only table upstairs until shortly before we finished.)
Yes, it's pricey. Nearly $170 pre-tip for two salads, a shared ribeye and one drink apiece. Worth every penny!
Hilarious
We went with friends expecting a wonderful experience in an elegant restaurant with spectacular views. However the surprise was not what anyone would have expected. The evening began with outstanding bread followed by a so-so blue-cheese wedge salads. Our main courses were filet mignon, new york strip and bone-in prime that were were mediocre…roasted cauliflower steak was terrific. The creamed corn and spinach were unremarkable but the mushrooms and scalloped potatoes were yummy. The chocolate moose delish and the cheesecake fine. OK the dinner bombed but what was worst was the surly and rude server throughout the entire meal, no excuse. Our reservation was at 5 but she already appeared overwhelmed and the restaurant short-staffed. BTW although unattractive but hilarious was when she used her entire torso to stack and balance all the dinner plates, silverware and side dishes. It was wild watching her walk across the room. There were many other issues with the timing of the different courses but I’ll finish with NEVER AGAIN!
Be the first to ReplyHighlight of Our Anniversary Weekend
Del Frisco's was the highlight of our anniversary weekend in San Diego. The restaurant was connected to our hotel (InterContinental San Diego) and we just walked from the hotel to dinner (saves the cost of parking and driving tipsy). Our reservations were honored immediately, we sat at a lovely table for two facing the water. Our waiter (Tyler) was so attentive and offered great culinary suggestions. The food was delicious, the drinks divine, and the dessert....well we had to take that to go. We were stuffed. Great night to end our anniversary weekend.
Be the first to ReplyConvenient Dinner when staying at InterContinental San Diego
While spending a couple days in San Diego at the InterContinental Hotel, we ended up eating dinner at Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steakhouse. One main reason for eating here was it was connected to the hotel so we didn’t have to drive and find parking.
After a short wait they escorted us up an amazing staircase lined with wine bottles. They sat us on the upstairs seating area at the edge overlooking the San Diego Bay.
They brought out bread & butter before and during our meal. We ordered a couple Filet Mignons, asparagus, and mashed potatoes for all of us to share. The meal was very good. The steaks were cooked perfectly and the asparagus was seasoned just right.
Like a lot of reviews our service wasn’t the greatest. Our server wasn’t the friendliest and hardly checked in on us. Unless we stay at the InterContinental again I don’t think we will eat here again. There are other fine dining restaurants in San Diego who provide great service.
Unusually disappointing.
It must have been an off night. Having been to this location and several Del Frisco locations around the country, this was the first time we had a disappointing experience. There were eight of us and several of our steaks had inedible sections. Our server seemed disinterested and was at times rude. It may have been a bad night, but extremely disappointing for a $250 per person dinner. On the plus side, the location is great and the bar staff was wonderful.
Be the first to ReplyA step above most chain steakhouses must try the Buttercake dessert
A step above most chain steak houses. We all order different entrées, everybody cleared their plate. Steaks were cooked perfectly. Even the one prepared rare. Lastly you must get the butter cake. One of the best desserts I ever had

Total garbage..$500 down the drain. Can’t compare to other chains, bad management, service, specificity in order requests ignored, asked for bread 3x , unprofessional, white trash, don’t go coming from NYC , so only my opinion

Very nice high end restaurant. Steps from the bay. Casual fanzy style. Try the Wagu meat balls for starter. The NY was just right. The strawberry cheese cake was superv. Pricey cocktails. Easy parking.
