Delaney Oyster House Charleston Reviews from The Last Year
Excellent!
Excellent food in a fun old house. We dined on the porch — catch of the day followed by a delicious pound cake dessert. Unique and very fine cocktails. Great service with Eric. Kinda pricey but worth it! Recommend!
We loved this place! Cute former-house-turned-restaurant.
We sat on the porch and had a lovely dinner. Best Lobster Roll I've ever had. We also shared some Blue Crab rice. Unique flavors and delicious. Glad we tried it. Had some very fresh oysters for dessert. 100% would recommend.
Loved dining on the porch on a beautiful Spring day.
Service was spot on, always there when we needed them an personable too. And food was fabulous!
Food was alright.
Found hair in my drink. Decided we did not want to eat our mains there when I found the hair, so we only ordered appetizers. Once the waitress found out we were only ordering drinks and appetizers, she started to have an attitude with us. My friend ordered an espresso martini and asked for baileys in it but was not informed it would be an upcharge Got charged a hospitality charge for a subpar hospitality. Still gave a tip because I don't believe in not tipping my servers, but now that I have left I don't believe the amount I left was deserved. If any of it.
Great little restaurant near the shopping district
In a charming little house near king street. Great oysters, lobster bisque, ceaser with blackened shrimp. Best meal of our trip.
Not worth the pricing
Went in for a Family dinner. Loved the decor and set up. Food was below average for the pricing. We had oysters which were decent, lobster bisque (bland), grouper (had little flavor and the field peas were undercooked), hush puppies (fantastic), lobster roll (very good), steak (mediocre), blue crab rice (crunchy and not very flavorful. Very little crab meat), tuna (good). You’re paying for the ambiance not the food.

Super cute spot for oysters! We were on the hunt for raw oysters for Sunday brunch. I made a reservation for this place only a couple of days beforehand. We arrived at 11 am when they opened. Our table was in the upstairs dining room with a view of Calhoun street below. The porch seating was also very inviting and would be great in nice weather. Our server was very attentive and helpful. We had some questions about the menu and the oyster selections. We started with the tuna tartare. The seasoning was excellent and I really loved the puffed rice crunchy bits. The old bay chips were very crisp and well seasoned, an excellent accompaniment to our oysters. We had several different types of oysters on the half shell. Th selection is good and I really liked the sizing explanation on the menu. If you are trying raw oysters for the first time, it will be easier to figure out where to start. The little signs on our oyster selections when they arrived were so cute! It is easy to figure out which is which, even if you're distracted when the server brings your oysters over. This is definitely for seafood lovers. Love the focused menu and it was a perfect fit for what we wanted.
We only went for oysters.
They took about 40 minutes to come out and one of them was bad. Don't go. Bad quality and the tab was $100, for only a dozen oysters and a glass of wine
We loved being able to walk here.
Our server,Madison was super friendly and gave good recs. I have an allergy so my dishes had to be modified which I appreciated. The spicy Tuna Tartare was excellent. Had a nice kick to it and was well balanced. I had the octopus and it was okay but that's because they had to remove ingredients. My peeps had the Steamboats and everyone raved about the Lobster bisque. The ambiance is lacking but the food was good!

Good tasting oysters, lobster roll was good wish it was slightly bigger. Great spot for a date night
So far, our best dining experience in Charleston.
Excellent food, great drinks, and wonderful service.

What an amazing find! Honestly, it was one of the very best meals we've had since moving to SC a little over a year ago. We had oysters (the Oysters Delaney was my favorite bite). We also had Spicy Tuna Tartare, Spanish Octopus, & Blue Crab Rice with Grilled Shrimp - all fabulous! The cocktails were also on point, and the service was amazing.

They check all boxes for ambiance, super cute inside a historic home. Lovely aesthetic. The server was very attentive however, she forgot our tuna tartare which came with our meal as opposed to as an appetizer. The food was again, just ok. The peel and eat shrimp were incredibly overcooked and mushy plus the seasoning just wasn't very good. The tuna tartare above was overly spicy, like inedible for me. My companion had the grilled fish tacos and he stated the fish was also overcooked. I tried the tuna Bahn Mi and did enjoy that very much. The in house desserts are very good and I would certainly give them a try. Worth a try but not worth the hype.

We went here because it was an easy walk from our hotel, but what a great find! We split a salad and then I had the daily catch (tile fish) which was delicious. My husband had the hangar steak which he very much enjoyed. Service was great, even as it got busier. We sat in the bar area, which got noisy, kind of regretting not sitting on the porch. (In December! Hey, we're from New England.) We very much recommend!

The food was good the service was great! We sat on the patio ,they had heaters it was nice. I enjoyed the sangria and the roasted oysters. The hush puppies were good. My entree was the fried flounder with malt vinegar fries.
We ate here three times when in town.
Service was excellent, atmosphere was relaxing, food was amazing. Such a great time here!
Just okay
Great service, but the lobster roll was such a disappointment. I usually haven’t met one I didn’t like, but for $34 I was most unimpressed.
