Dija Mara Oceanside Reviews from The Last Year
Incredible flavors, groovy atmosphere, and delicious drinks.
If you're looking to taste cuisine of Indonesian this is the spot for you! Must try's: pork butt skewers, tofu rendang, charred eggplant, and spicy noodles
Wonderful food and drink, cool ambiance.
Indifferent service, but still had a great experience anyway.
Not If Dinner Means Dinner
Ambiance: Not what you'd expect if seeking out a traditional Indonesian restaurant. Colorful street art warms and highlights the concrete walls reminiscent of a metropolitan back alley. Small and clean, with a dozen or so tables well placed to make best use of space without encroaching on the next table. Best to bring 3 or less of your favorite humans with you at a time. Acoustics are such that collectively all tables translate into a moderately high level of conversational noise. Fun & funky Hipster vibe, with adult patrons of all ages. Food & Price:The menu is limited but with intriguing dishes. Cuisine is attractively plated. It's difficult to know whether the portions will be appetizer-small or entrée-adequate simply from the price; all are listed as "dinner", even the single serving of unleavened flatbread (roti) for $11. Overall the food is downsized and pricey. The flavor experience is very tasty but not over the top. Main protein ingredients may change in the moment. Likewise the beverages: shortlist of creative specialty drinks, a sampling of "natural wines" from around the globe and 3 beer selections. Service: Leisurely and friendly, but not particularly attentive. Waitstaff very unhurried. May or may not acknowledge you as you enter or exit. They prefer you make a reservation but may not answer their phone. Can't make reservations on yelp or OpenTable, but available on Tok. Overall: Awesome if dinner means drinks and sharing small bites during interesting conversation between you and a couple close friends. Not so good if dinner means dinner. Don't expect a generous culturally satisfying Southeast Asian meal with vigilant waitstaff. Should be described as "a small trendy bar with imaginative offerings pairing well with exotically spiced small plates" rather than "an Indonesian restaurant that serves drinks".
what an amazing dinner!!! my boyfriend and i came here for
what an amazing dinner!!! my boyfriend and i came here for his birthday and were so satisfied with the food, drinks, and pricing! Everything we tried was amazing, perfectly balanced and portioned. This is a great place for a nice but laid back date night. The two girls working were very nice, they were sharing the bar and all tables so keep that in mind when dining on a weekday! You are there to sit and experience the food. We can't wait to come back and try the rest of the menu!
Everything about this place is a 10 out of 10, if you love
Everything about this place is a 10 out of 10, if you love flavor, and spice, the exactly the place to go. Our server was on top of it and recommended some great dishes. Such a great hidden gem.
Last night, me and my girlfriend decided to try this place
Last night, me and my girlfriend decided to try this place because it looked yummy and was close. We didn't have a reservation so we checked in at 7:50 and they told us it would be a 45 minute wait, not too bad. We stayed close in hopes that it would take less time than they quoted. 9:30 rolled around and we still hadn't heard anything. We were getting a little antsy so we checked their hours online. They close at 9. On a friday night when they only just opened a few hours ago at 5. Not only are these hours weird the girl who checked us in at 7:50 said absolutely nothing about them closing soon and us potentially not getting in at all. Thanks for wasting my night guys.
Great food and prices.
Service was amazing. It's located right next-door to a Jazz/bar restaurant that serves mixed drinks. My only downside of the experiences that they didn't have alcohol at their bar just one, but I went for the food so it was OK!
Party of 6 for a Friday night.
We were able to come in at 5:30pm and request for a table for 6:30pm! The place is small, casual and feels like it was previously a bar in its old life. It does have a bar, but the place just feels like a bar if you turn the lights down. Anywho, we ordered like half the menu to try out the different foods. My favorites included the beef tartare, chicken thigh skewers and the fried chicken with the chicharron sprinkled on the rice. Some of my least favorites were the gu choy, ceviche, noodles and the rice dish. Some flavorings were too salty for our palette. Ambiance, wayyy too loud. The music was loud and because it a small space... the noise is packed in. Not an intimate place. Also, our party was having a good time and catching up. But we were asked three times in 10 minutes if we were done... idk, the tone of voice wasn't the vibes.
It's so stinking unique and delicious.
Trust me, order the Roti, Mie Goring and Nash Goring. So so so so darn good. It's one of our favorite date night splurges!
Great and Unique Dinner
Fantastic food. Indonesian so it’s very Asian, but not the same as Thai or Vietnamese or Chinese or Japanese, but a fusion of all. Everything outstanding. The eggplant and pork belly were the groups two favorites. And try a cocktail… the Pandan was one of the best cocktails I have ever had.
Just overall leaves a lot to be desired, little confused
Just overall leaves a lot to be desired, little confused why Michelin recognized. Food was super salty, service was mediocre, nothing was very memorable about this spot. Didn't over eat but tummy felt heavy all nite and this morning. Def not worth the drive from downtown San Diego area. Would not recommend
My girlfriend and I decided to come here for her birthday
My girlfriend and I decided to come here for her birthday dinner not to long ago and had a horrible experience. Once we got our bill for $120 I put down $200 cash (2 $100 bills) a few minutes later a woman came to collect the bill who was not our waitress the entire night. She came to return the bill with $8 in change. I flagged her down a few minutes later and told her there must have been a mistake our bill was $120 I need $80 back. She immediately was very defensive and told me that I only put down $100. We argued a bit and then I asked her to explain if her case was even correct why would she give me $8 in change. She told me that was her mistake and we actually owed them more money. I laughed.... We argued some more and she told me she was to busy to deal with this and if I wanted I could come check the security footage the next day. My girlfriend and I left and I dropped her off at home. I went back alone and asked to speak with the manager. I didn't want to make a scene in front of her on her birthday dinner. I spoke with another lady explaining what happened and that I was not okay with waiting until tomorrow to get my money back. ($80 isn't much but at this point I didn't care about the money it was the lack of respect I was receiving). Anyways the woman continued to argue and tell me I was wrong and that I didn't pay her $200 (I would bet my life on the fact that I did) I was taken outside with another lady who told me " this has never happened before I dont know what to do". I had to explain to her that what she needs to do is go back inside and return the money to me that I am owed and how customer service works. In all I have never been treated so horribly by restaurant staff and honestly still can't believe that we went to what was supposed to be a nice restaurant for a birthday dinner and had to fight with the staff about our bill...
Go For the Vibe. But On That Night, I Really Wanted A Normal Sized Entrée.

wonderful
On a busy street, but cozy inside. The food was great: I had a malay dish (nasi goreng) and my wife raw tuna. Service was perfect and wine average priced. I can highly recommend this...............

I have some reservations coming up tomorrow that have gotten lots of views but haven’t sold yet. I haven’t made a sale yet since I just joined this week. I keep lowering the price, but am worried they won’t sell. How long did it take you to sell your first reservations? And did you have success being reimbursed by AT for no-show or cancellation fees? Just looking for a little reassurance. Thanks!

You should probably cancel prior to the cancellation date per the cancellation policy. I would imagine you would only get reimbursed for a sold listing if you happen to be charged?

My first sale took about a week. But as the other commenter said stay ontop of your cancellation windows. There’s no reimbursement for those so make sure you cancel in time then just try again.
