An experience of British Indian food
Good experience and food is generally fine. Enjoyed the flavours in food, though I wasn’t exactly used to British Indian food. It was worth a try! Service was very excellent, but seating and moving about was a little cramped, though it is a large restaurant.

We had a fantastic meal and service by Keya. We did not have a reservation so we were in line for about 20 minutes. A nice staff member came down the line while we waited offering hot mint and chai tea. It was such welcoming touch since we were outside and it was a bit cold. She told us once inside we could order a drink while waiting for a table. We did so, sat at the bar and had our drink just as our table was ready. Keya was a delight, the food amazing and prompt. Thank you!
Be the first to ReplyGreat unique flavors
I decided to get the okra fries, garlic naan and the chicken ruby. Normally I go for the Salli Boti. I liked the Chicken Ruby, it definitely has a sweet & savory flavor with great spice, but I preferred the Salli Boti. The garlic naan was great! The Okra fries people rave about… I thought they were just ok. The blueberry compote rice pudding was not very good. A very strong cardamom flavor and not your typical rice pudding.
Be the first to ReplyVery unpleasant experience with waiter
The food was really good as always , however I had a very unpleasant experience with the waitress serving us this evening . We were 4 people, I ordered for everybody since my friends visiting London did not speak that much English . The waitress asked for allergies I said I was gluten and dairy free. I ordered my two gluten and dairy free dishes and explain we wanted 3 starters to share and 3 other main courses . They waitress insisted I could not eat the starters ( I had not even said which starters I wanted ) because I could only eat my gluten and dairy free dishes I ordered , I explained at least 4 times the starters were not for me but my friends but she kept going and saying I could not order them to the point of being rude and not listening . I had to asked her to please stop , to listen and take my order. I honestly was extremely angry at the way she was behaving and it was very uncomfortable for my friends witnessing the argument

Food here is very good and atmosphere great, our server Keyannah was really helpful, she was really good with suggestions dishes and how many we should order. Hope to go back very soon !

Nice to Average food, very average to poor service, expensive for some dhal - sharing platters we have one or inch peice of chicken each - not good enough for the 70 GBP per head price tag
Be the first to ReplyGreat new addition to Soho restaurants
Walked in at 5pm and was escorted to a table straightaway. Claudia was very nice and helpful.Had a chicken ruby ,basmati rice a Basmati Kheer ( sweet) and 65cl bottle Kingfisher. A great meal and great service in excellent surroundings -feels upmarket but £39 in total including 12.5% service charge. My first visit to Dishoom but it won’t be my last. Special thanks to Claudia too
Be the first to ReplyVery good set meal.
A large group of us (11) visited for lunch. Had the lunchtime feast menu, essentially a three course set meal. Was really good with a lot of variety, plenty of food that was very tasty. Bottomless chai to drink. Our server was Leon who did an excellent job of managing our table.
Be the first to ReplyGreat service and good food!
Food and the service provided to me was great. I had the okra fries which is always good. Had the naan bread with the paneer tikka. The naan bread is a bit small which is a shame. Just wish it was a bit bigger considering the cost. The server was friendly and very helpful which is much appreciated.
Be the first to ReplyFood is not good. Only fat on lamb chops, chicken tikka brown meat(cheap) without rice and bad touristy service.
******DO NOT GO HERE!!****** This is an honest review and not a bot. DO NOT go here unless you want to feel scammed and pay overprice for things that hardly taste any good. I ordered the SPICY LAMB CHOPS for 17.50 pounds, and got 3 small pieces. These pieces had 25gr of meat on them. Basically a small tiny bite per lamb chop rest is fat. ONE OF THE LAMB CHOPS WERE ONLY FAT. Are you guys okay serving this? I am still til this day waiting for customer service to contact me about this. NOT OKAY. The HOUSE BLACK DAAL is terrible DO NOT order it, it tastes like something out of a microwave and Im not joking. Microwavable indian food tastes better even! The grilled chicken tikka was also bad, tasted old. The naan bread are also SOOO TINY. you have to order at least 1 per person. The only good thing was the rose and cardamom Lassi but it had no flavor of cardamom. Still good though. Seriously, is this how you guys run this place? Overcharging for food that is not even good?

Great food and fantastic service. it was my partner’s birthday and they brought him a dessert with a candle to celebrate at the end of the dinner! Very thoughtful

Be the first to ReplySaturday night dinner
What can I say ! I ve been to Dishoom many times , and the service is always the same . You know what to expect . Well yesterday it was so much more than that !!! Saturday night , long queue but we are determined to do it . Finally we are in , some very smiley faces greeted us , and we are on our table . Menu as always spectacular. Our waiter( Beata - I hope this is correct ) was amazing . Very friendly , knowledgeable and attending. Drinks on the table were fast even though it was really ( really ) busy ! But , this time we had a manager assisting and checking on us ( we had some allergies ) . Kasia ( hope this is correct ) was spectacular! So good , calm , smiley and professional. She knew what she was doing ! Overall a night to remember ! We will definitely be back soon . Ask for Kasia and Beata !!!!

Stepping into this palace of hospitality is a most relaxing experience. The table we were allocated was perfect for the five uniting family members. Two long comfortable banquettes. Wonderfully positioned to be able to watch all the action. The kitchen on the basement floor is open so you descend the stairs which themselves are very decorative to inviting aromas. The toilets are downstairs. Our waitress was fantastic. We wanted to try wine it was brought without fuss for this to happen. The food from the first bite made you feel at home. It was incredible. There is nothing to fault here. The whole experience was five star. We arrived at 12.30 and left at 3.30. Just treat yourselves to being in a haven of customer care on a level of excellence that you rarely see. Foood that brings intense emotions of pleasure. Thank you dishoom. You truly deserve every accolade possible.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Indian food
We looked for an Indian food for dinner in the Soho area and this restaurant was highly recommended. The restaurant is very nice, with a warm atmosphere. The staff is very friendly and the service is at the highest level. The food is fresh and tasty, each one of the dishes was just great. We came again the following day for breakfast which was very good. Highly recommended.
Be the first to ReplyFirst visit but will be back
Heard lots of good things about this restaurant but was put off by life queue and not being able to book table in advance. Last Saturday happened to be in London with fairly free and fluid day plans and we decided to give it a go. Waiting was 25 mins but we could get a drink at the bar and check the menu before we were called to the tables. The food was amazing. Best Indian meal I had. We tried lamb samosas, black lentils daal, chicken and lamb curries and broccoli salad which was so flavoursome ! We were not rushed and enjoyed our meal. It came to £32 pp which was a great value for such a wonderful food in city center. We were just few meters away from busy regent street !

Incredible! We were served by a waitress called Natale who really made our evening and the food was great as always. Thank you!
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing!
Okay so we realise you have to queue up which was fine as the weather wasn’t iffy. Then we had a wait when we got inside the restaurant (Dishoom Kingly Street). Then when we placed our orders the service staff told us all our food would be served at once and did not mention other options? We found this a tad strange and then thought surely they won’t serve our poppadoms with our mains? Well they bought everything together poppodoms, starters and mains!!! It was an absolute joke!!! We spent so much money at this place to what… eat cold mains! Yes by the time we were ready to eat our mains my nans and curry was stone cold! Not a lovely experience to say the least. I was so disappointed and upset and we don’t usually go out that often so decided to order several different dishes. This place is not cheap so when we see a couple next to is order their starter first and then ordered their main after finishing the starter we asked the service staff why we were not told we could do this? It is ridiculous that a simple suggestion was overlooked and now from this experience we won’t go back. What I noticed is a lot of people just order one or two dishes and have a drink! Not really a restaurant vibe to be honest.
Be the first to ReplyGreat birthday experience
Today was one of the best dining experiences of my life, I have been to caraby dishoom a couple of times before and really enjoyed the amazing flavours of food but today was a extra special experience and had Alexander as mu main waiter, he was carm, friendly and very knowledgeable . Overall fantastic dining experience, can't wait to go back and enjoy the amazing flavours and experience. Amazing night, money well spent.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food Great service
We dropped in after a show-no wait, great table, friendly servers. Waiter recommended dishes and all delicious especially sweet potato app, lamb chef’s special. Reasonable prices as well. We had a lovely time.
Be the first to Replybrunch indian style
I’ve been to a few of the Dishooms now and must say I haven’t found Carnaby and Covent Garden to be on par with King’s Cross and Shoreditch. Service wasn’t great unfortunately, it didn’t impact on our experience too much so not an issue but it was lacking eg drinks coming one by one over a period of time.
The bacon naan was amazing as expected but wasn’t as hot as it should be. Still delicious though. We got a free chocolate brownie and ice cream at the end to share, I’m not really sure why but it was a lovely touch. Prices for brunch are reasonable and the decor is pretty. We did have an enjoyable brunch but I recommend King’s Cross or Shoreditch instead.
Try this place
Came here for a team do, just excellent, we chose lots of starters recommended by the waiter and shared them, then the same with the mains, just lovely, decent drinks menu, no one wanted to share desert, and they all looked good. Good value for money, but always busy, something you need to try
Be the first to ReplyPleasantly surprised with the best Vada Pau I have had yet
People rate this place highly so I tried not to let that cloud my judgement and went in with lower expectations to avoid being potentially disappointed. Good thing is that I was left pleasantly surprised.
My order was as follows:
Starters: Veg Samosas, Vada Pau
Main: Chicken Tikka, Plain Naan
Desert: Choc Pudding with Chili Ice cream
Starters were really good and I would say it was the best Vada Pau I have had so far. The mains were a let down but I understand why the food was cooked as it was. Personally, I prefer the Chicken Tikka a bit more cooked and chargrilled. The Naan was quite smaller and thinner than expected and slightly burnt making it a bit harder to eat with the Chicken Tikka. Tamarind & Mint dips were also really good and the Choc Pudding was amazing but I personally wouldn't have the Chilli Ice Cream as I don't think ice cream should have chilli in it.
It is also worth noting that the food was not as greasy so didn't leave you feeling bad afterwards.
Atmosphere:
Good, vibrant and not too loud so we could hear each other easily.
Service:
Really good service, explained dishes well and reasonable speed with food arriving to table based on how busy it was. We did have a minor mistake on the bill where we were accidentally charged for 2 Chais but the refund was swift and easy with no hassle.
Cost:
Slightly higher than average London prices for mid-range but worth it.
Great vibe
Book ahead. Long ques for none booked.
Food was delightful but a little overpriced.
Atmosphere was great inside and we had a pleasant evening.
Great time
Really tasty food, lots of good vegetarian and vegan options. Attentive staff. Our friend was quite late and we were slow to order (busy catching up). We were expected to be hurried along but never were which was great. A great lunchtime experience.
