After several attempts, we finally managed to get a table
After several attempts, we finally managed to get a table at this very small and cosy Toronto restaurant. The menu that day was short and simple. We first opted for the cold roast veal with baby fennel. A nice combination of meat and vegetables that worked well like the beets and fried feta. But the following dish, tagliatelle, carciofini and safran, didn't work so well as the pastas arrived at our table barely lukewarm. Even if the waiter took back our plates when we reported the issue, it was disappointing. The swordfish with haricots brought a somewhat similar issue: temperature control. How can one mix a hot dish with cold vegetables? I don't have the answer to this question but the Chef and his colleagues might take a closer look at this. The choice of wines, even when chosen by the glass, was well chosen. If you keep some room for dessert, don't hesitate to choose the financier and/or the creme caramel. Finally, the service was quite attentive.
I found the food average.
We had the sweet bread, the little clams, the swordfish and the bluefin tuna tartare. The tartare was by far the best dish. The rest was ok. For the price point (between 25-45$) per dish, I have had better quality. I think the most surprising is that they don't have the ability to make coffee (drip or espresso) or tea to serve with dessert. I found that somewhat disappointing.

I had super high hopes for this restaurant but unfortunately our experience did not live up the to expectation. The restaurant is cozy and romantic; a perfect place for a hot date but the food did not live up to the expectation. Additionally, although our server was very attentive, we waited over 2 hours for our main course. We started the meal with the green salad and grilled turnips. Both the veggies dishes were flavourful and fresh and probably the highlight of the meal. We then had the salmon and duck. The salmon was a little over cooked and sat atop a sauce that was so buttery my veins were hardening at first taste. The duck dish came out two hours after we placed our order. The meat was inconsistently cooked, and there were slabs that could have swam off the table. I am sad to say that our experience at Dreyfus was not what I had expected. The restaurant's menu changes daily so I am sure our experience was a one off.

A tight but quaint dining room, with superb service, and excellent food makes Dreyfus (from a Joe Beef alumnus) a must visit. The menu changes frequently and it's best to order several dishes to share depending on your party size. On our visit we had; Beef Tartare - this was served with edible flowers on top and was a light refreshing take on the dish. Very good. Latke Soldiers With Roast Lamb - this was excellent. The lamb was sliced thin like cold cuts and was delicious. Spaghetti & Mussels - a dairy free pasta dish with some of the largest mussels you will see. Very good, and a great pasta option if it's offered on the menu. Black Bass - this was awesome. The bass was cooked perfectly and accompanied by chick peas and this lobster bisque sauce that was excellent. Asparagus - very fresh, chilled asparagus. Was packed on a Saturday night at 630 so reservations are a must.
I have a long record globally at great restaurants.
I have been trying to get reservations at Dreyfus for months and got lucky to surprise my son who landed from London UK the night before. However he got some stomach bug and really wanted to go. As a dad I said to rest. I called to the restaurant to explain an hour before and they simply said they would charge me. I suppose the best restaurants last. Those that only think it is a business (even though the sellout every nigh) won't last. Sad. not good people

This spot has been on the list for a while and we had a special occasion to celebrate. For starters, its a small and intimate setting. So small that often our co-diners had to move their table to get out without bumping into us. The ambience is quite nice and the service was incredibly attentive. We ordered the pommes dauphine, beef tartare, radicchio salad, and the veal. Honestly have mixed feelings about the food. Pommes dauphine is a must try, its unique - perfectly crisp but soft on the inside. The fish and sour cream and dill paired so well with it. The beef tartare was a huge letdown, felt too salty and bitter, oily. Radicchio salad was just not for my taste, could have benefitted from more sweetness to cut the bitterness of the leaves, a bit lacking in my eyes. The veal was fantastic, cooked well and the mashed potatoes were super silky. The bit of spinach on the side was also amazing, not sure what else when into it, but the seasoning was great. The best item was probably dessert, apple on a puff pastry and yogurt cream on top! Not too sweet and balanced. An elevated apple pie with ice cream. Overall, it just an "ok" meal. Especially at this price point, probably more consistent options out there. Maybe a bad day/menu? The menu is consistently changing, I would probably come back to try other dishes.

I've heard so many great things about Dreyfus so we finally made the time to try it. Upon entering, it felt like I was entering a friends home with beautifully places decor. The service was really nice. The menus item were listed in French but our server took the time to explain every dish and what he'd recommended, catered to our preferences. The menu changes every so often but the food all tasted so fresh, well seasoned and perfectly cooked. I would come here again for a special occasion.

All round very good experience. Very tiny restaurant and small tables. Better for a couples dinner than groups.
Not good with anything more than 2 people.
Our group of 4 ordered numerous dishes each on the waiter's advice, and we would share. They would arrive when ready... ok, sure. This a lazy version of a tasting menu. Instead of preparing 4 plates of an item, one portion is presented. We had to fend for ourselves, trying to divide portions, which we had to put on our plate with leftovers of the previous dish. And what French restaurant wouldn't offer bread? We had to ask for a knife to dish a fish fillet. A spoon to serve another. The same with the one octopus tentacle presented. Over-priced hipster bullsh*t.
One of my favourite meals i've ever had in TO.
Our server walked us through and coursed out the menu, which we really appreciated. everything he brought out was better than the last. Highly Highly recommend!
Friday Girls Night.
Arrived at 6:15PM on a mild sunny Friday, so yes, in half an hour we noticed that this place was already full! It was a tiny place, and we were seated at a small table. Worried - "is this table big enough? "- as we were so eager to try variety of dishes and drinks! But no worries... The reasons are following: Before food arrived, we enjoyed cocktails. - Doctor's Order : tangy robust cocktail with citrus and ginger profile with a not too thin, not too strong amount of booze. Served as a nice aperitif! - Vermuta Triangle: Served in an old fashioned glass, taste was like an on-the-rock fusion with cassis/orange aftertone. Although I personally like it boozier but it was good nontheless. Food: we had, #1. Beef Tartar on Latkes : The latkes came in a little cube shape that had nice crispiness on the every corner. The tartar on top is creamy with an appropriate tanginess with fresh / aromatic veggie crispiness. Loved this. Must order. #2. Pieuvre: Grilled Octopus. It was super tender, perfectly charred, seasoned with zesty, heart-healthy, aromatic vinaigrette sauce. The fresh red cabbage pieces and other sprout-y veggies on top of it integrated into the sauce and gave the tender octopus a nice texture. #3. Bar Raye (Main): Pan seared seabass with charred cauliflower underneath with tangy sauce. Very good. Crisply fried skin and juicy fish meat. Packed with flavor. #4. Pommes Dauphine: MUST ORDER. It is crisp potato puffs served with this creamy trout roe paste with a hint of caper. We additional-ordered this item because the couple next to us had it and it looked sooooo nice. And yes, it was an eye-opening one. We had 4 different kinds of glass wine, and we especially liked GW Lazy Wine Maker (Light Red). It is red but served chill. Great with all the dishes we had. Matthias Hager Grüner (White) was nice with a subtle yet distinct sweetness and uniquely refreshing. This was also great with food. The place is a high end French restaurant but the atmosphere was quite casual, the servers were there in casual t-shirts and I saw couples, groups, family (adult). Every dish was served well-timed with perfect order, so the table was never overcrowded. :) The serving dishes were changed at the right timing. Very pleasant dining experience.

Came here on a Saturday night for dinner, special occasion (my birthday)! The ambiance is very cute. It feels casual yet classy. Everyone is dressed pretty casual, but it has an intimate vibe. We sat at the bar, where we could see the drinks and appetizers being prepared. However, we would have preferred a table as it wasn't the most comfortable and there wasn't a lot of space. Their menu changes often and they feature many local ingredients and suppliers which is nice. The waiter runs through the menu with you which is a nice touch to understand every dish. Scallops: One of my favourite dishes. They're placed ontop of these delicious green tomatoes. The scallops were fresh and had hints of acidity and spice which was really nice. Agnolotti: Tasty and filled with soo much ricotta. It had a lamb ragu sauce which was well made. Sausage: Made in house and has a delicious navy bean and vegetable sauce. Was a good sausage and nice with the navy bean and sauce. Lamb Chops: Tasty. The lamb felt like a steak to me tbh. Best eaten in combination with the cabbage, tastes better together than separately. The cabbage was a little too charred for my liking but my boyfriend liked it. Lemon Grapefruit Dessert: One of my other favourite dishes of the night, topped with a sparkler for my birthday! It was a combination of lemon sorbet on oats on one side, and peeled grapefruit topped with a fluffy torched meringue on the other. The combination and balance of the two were so good! One of my favourite desserts I've tried. TLDR: Stand out dishes were the scallops and the dessert (lemon and grapefruit dessert). The other dishes were prepared well, but nothing exceptionally memorable. It was a lovely dinner. Michelin Guide and on Canada's Top 100, it's bound to be pricey so I recommend saving this spot for a special occasion or a treat! I do think it's worth a try atleast once!
A great find, a rare ambiance with a daring Menu.
Wow what a great little find, we walked past it first as the small lettering on the window is hardly visible at night, the 96 clinched it, up a few steps, hesitation, is this the door? (again no sign) we opened it to a rush of warmth and noise, yep the instant atmosphere was great. They found us a table for two (it's small but busy, best to book) and we settled in. We perused the menu, we needed some explanations, and our waitress went through the menu with gusto. We selected 5 dishes to share, and a glass of house red each, this wine 🍷 was excellent. I also tried the Craft Beer later which was also really nice. The dishes did not disappoint, nicely presented, great combinations and delicious. Grading it highly the dauphine potatoes could have been slightly better, more robust! When we discussed the food after which was the favourite dish from the 5 we ordered we had a best 3!! A definite recommend, I hope you enjoy it was much as we did.

A top experience
Arriving at what at first appeared to be an ordinary house, we were quickly taken into a noisy, very popular establishment. I can now see why. Our host asked the waitress for a sampling food experience and we were not disappointed. Every dish was so tasty, well presented and had you keen for the next dish. The great thing is that the food is sourced locally and is fresh. As a result the menu changes regularly. Also, our waitress was excellent and very knowledgeable about the dishes and wine. We will be back in a few weeks time for sure.
A rising star that outshines so many others
This restaurant is an incredible jewel. Watch for it to receive a Michelin star. It certainly deserves one. And we’ve just returned from Brussels where we dined at a multi star One. We start with a refreshing cocktail of berries and liquor. It’s perfect for a summer night. The menu is small and if you were with a group, you could try everything on the menu. All items are meant to be shared. We have shrimp and cabbage. It’s light and the sauce is arresting, light and entrancing. It surprises in a good way. An amazing beginning. Our ravioli stuffed with lamb is also not your typical filled pasta. It is light, the sauce also light, the pasta Al dente. At both tables besides us, we notice pork tenderloin is a large offering that looks delicious and perfectly cooked. My fav is summer squash and blossoms. It is zucchini in multiple forms, crispy, fresh, a tangle of flavours. Our last is a deep fried cheese and fresh tomatoes. As all above, the sauces enhance and their freshness sings. We have a luscious peach cake topped with thin slices of cheese. The well baked crumb outside is just right for a tender inside. Wow. What a chef. Serving staff are aswell attentive and helpful.
Superb Tapas it a tiny restaurant on Harbord St
Excellent, delicious and varied tapas served in a tiny restaurant which is quite hard to find, The only indication there is a restaurant there is the word Dreyfus written on the glass of the bay window. It was packed and very busy but ask dishes were delicious
Great quaint place.
Being from Montreal it took me back to the first days of Joe Beef. You can feel & taste of the passion that's put into every plate. When food is prepared with fresh ingredients & passion ressauts are always amazing. The staff is as amazing as the food.
Incredible food, fantastic service
One of the best meals I've had, great service and fantastic food, could have done with a nice coffee after but no facilities for that but otherwise perfect! Peter, our waiter was excellent, vibe and acoustics great, for a small space very little noise and the food was beyond!

The ingredients were super fresh and each dish was complex. Everything our server recommended was great.Service: Service was a little slow, the restaurant was packed. There is a time limit so it was a little frustrating, but our server was also very nice.Atmosphere: we stopped by in September when you could still sit outside. The inside is quite crowded and more dimly lit. More difficult to have a conversation but nice for a date night.Can't wait to go back!

.. so I'll be using rudimentary names for the dishes. There were a few dishes I tried here.Scallops were good, but I wouldn't say it's a must order.Eggs were good bites, I liked them.The shrimp & tomato dish would've been really good if the tomatoes weren't so salted- it threw the balance of this dish off. The beef tartare dish was unbelievably salted. It was the beef in particular that was super salty- I had to drink a lot of water to take that taste out of my mouth. The Sweetbreads were the standout dish for me, it was a balanced dish- sweetbreads can be heavy but it was just enough that it didn't overwhelm me. I was quite full after this dish though.Cream puff was forgettable for me.Overall, I don't really know if I came on an off day. I'm surprised this restaurant is top 100. The amount of salt used in 2 of the dishes took away from the positives for me.

We had an amazing time here! Had the kohlrabi salad, tartare, potatoes and duck. Finished with chocolate ganache for dessert. Everything was exceptional including cocktails, service and ambience. Will definitely be back!

Upsetting experience
My husband and I were in Toronto for the weekend and since we like new culinary experiences, we had made reservations at the Dreyfus (top 100 list) at 7:30. We took a cab and we’re stuck in traffic therefore we’re a little late (7:10) when we arrived at the address. We texted the restaurant prior to our arrival and everything seemed to be fine. The Dreyfus had no signage therefore we were delayed even more trying to find the place. We finally opened a glass door to find a very very loud environment. People were yelling at each other across tables which instantly gave me a headache. The owner met us at the door right away to tell us how late we were. We explained that we couldn’t find the restaurant. He said he wasn’t sure if he still had a table but he would check. We were sat at a small table by the door, and we were presented with menus. We could barely hear our waitress speak. We were explained that the menu is sharing therefore we started with the shrimp and scallop. Within less than five minutes the shrimps arrived followed by the scallops. We didn’t have any wine at the table yet so we asked what wine would pair with our selections and she replied white wine. (Wow they had nothing kinds, white and red) The shrimp dish was ok but the scallop presentation was terrible. There was something crunchy and a flavour of bitters. Upon tasting the scallops, my husband and I looked at each other and knew there was no way we could finish this dinner. They were ready for us because right away, they cleared our table handed our coats and off we went. And that was our experience at the Dreyfus and yes I did tell them on my way out that they should get some signage.
FANTASTIC! Shout out to Peter who was a wonderful waiter!
Waiters can get a bad rep. They are trying to upsell and unfortunately these days with labour shortages and rising costs are increasingly stretched to turn tables. That is NOT Peter who was our fantastic waiter for our Friday night meal. On hearing we were foodies and would love to hear his recommendations he offered to personally curate a menu for us and match the wine given our preferences. He nailed it. (What a wonderful way of slyly upselling but making the guest feel special - other waiters take note!) Our appetisers were the Tuna Carpaccio and the Steak Tartare. Tuna is 100% dish of the year for us. The caponata perfectly complimented the tuna with its oily cherry tomatoes, eggplant and peppers. Steak Tartare is a credit to the chef who's skill is on display in balancing the creamy dressing with shemiji mushrooms and beemer cheese. Any other chef would have ruined it but it was divine. Bucatini was peppery and wonderfully hearty. The cod was cooked to perfection. We ended up skipping dessert as we were so full, and Peter was happy to let the Pastry team know - absolutely no issue. After a fantastic meal with an incredible bottle of wine, we got chatting to our neighbouring table. On seeing this, Peter curated a shot for the 5 of us to cheers and enjoy together. The perfect touch to finish off a 2022 top meal of the year!

1.) Setting a Reward (Bid)
* AppointmentTrader uses historical data to recommend a reasonable reward amount for securing a reservation - let's say $100.
* Peter really wants to go, so he increases the bid (or reward) to $200.
* At this stage, the reservation does not exist yet.
2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* MaternalRecord73, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's bid.
* MaternalRecord73 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to MaternalRecord73 for any questions Peter may have as MaternalRecord73 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* MaternalRecord73 now uses their connections at Dreyfus Toronto to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If MaternalRecord73 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, MaternalRecord73 receives the $200 reward which is credited to MaternalRecord73's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at Dreyfus Toronto!
