Amazing time with wonderful people at dune hotel! The team
Amazing time with wonderful people at dune hotel! The team (especially Alex and Carlos) were welcoming and attentive and made the experience one we will never forget. The spaces are beautiful and the restaurant was delicious. There is music from a nearby club, but it was nothing a white noise app on your phone couldn't take care of if you go to bed early. Would absolutely return!

Beautiful boutique hotel! As soon as you enter you are welcomed by the most friendly staff. Abraham at the restaurant was the most charismatic and hospitable staff member. Sweet Brenda kept our room very clean and tidy! Ana Lara, Mishelle, Eliseo, and Paco were incredible and very welcoming!! They even allowed a late check out for free! The complimentary breakfast was DELICIOUS and the presentation was impeccable. It came with granola, Greek yogurt, fresh fruit with papaya, your choice of eggs, coffee, and green juice! Also, Tulum in general is infested with sargassum/seaweed. BUT the beach in front of the Dune was free of that!!! It was clean and blue! I believe they clean it every morning but the location of their hotel is perfect bc for some reason on other parts of the beaches in Tulum, it is not that blue and clear. We are also staying at Azulik and the beach here is not good. Hot water!!! What a luxury. They are the only hotel I've been to with hot water.Lastly they have ROOM SERVICE. You can have your food delivered to the room. The hotel restaurant was able to bring my breakfast in bed.Look no further! Dune Boutique is the place to go beyond your expectations.

We went for dinner on the beach! The vibe + seating area is perfect for a fun sunset dinner. Happy hour drinks 2 for 1! Food was well priced compared to other restaurants on the beach. Our waiter Abraham was THE BEST!!!!!!
Be the first to ReplyThis place is a scam, I so wish I could give it zero stars.
It is not at all relaxing and certainly not "an escape," but instead, an overpriced, thwomping bass tourist trap.If you want to hear said thwomping bass at the same BPM 11am-4am every day, without being able to sleep through the night, then this spot is for you.My husband and I stopped by in person to book two nights at Dune during our honeymoon, thinking we were treating ourselves to a "relaxed beachfront room" after experiencing loud construction directly next door to the Airbnb we had previously booked.Went old the Dune staff we were hoping to escape for some peace and quiet. They proceeded to book us for two nights, never telling us 1) that it would offer neither peace, nor quiet, and 2) that this reservation was non-refundable (even though we booked a couple of days in advance). When we checked in to our room -- hoping to finally get some rest and relaxation after a long day of sightseeing and biking several miles -- all we could hear was the same, awful bass coming from next door.We asked how late the bass would be going, they said 4am ; we asked if they had quieter rooms, they said no other rooms were available; we told them we wanted to leave because we desperately needed some peace and quiet, and that we'd like our money back to book elsewhere, because we couldn't stay there either night if we couldn't sleep, they refused to refund us; then, apparently another room magically emerged, because they showed us a room directly above the first, but it was still just as loud; we asked if we could speak to the manager about a refund, they told us the manager was gone for the day, but that they would call us the following day about all this, the manager never reached out; we attempted to call ourselves, no one answered. The rooms are small and unremarkable, the Wi-Fi spotty, the food portions tiny and overpriced, there were dozens of bugs all over our patio, and quite frankly, never in my life have I experienced less accommodating staff, least of all in the hospitality business. So, thank you Dune, for stealing our money and providing zero "escape" during our honeymoon. This place is trash and we will never be back.

Absolutely love this hotel! This was my second time staying and they made some updates to the rooms and property and it looks amazing. This hotel is in the perfect spot to other restaurants and hotels. The staff was very attentive and polite. It's very peaceful and a quieter hotel. They offer free breakfast daily during your stay which was delicious.

if you don't travel much and love instagram this place is for you! no working toilet, threatened to be charged if i stained towels, restaurant cheats for tips, no mgmt on site most of the time, rude front office staff that stalks you to do their stupid mayan dinner. this place is trashy, gross, and blasts bass from 10AM - 4AM. It's the right place if you like trash. Go for the trash.
Be the first to ReplyThere's nothing 5 star about this property.
Water was leaking from our ceiling. The property wasn't well maintained and overpriced for what's offered

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!First of all, Google lists this as a 5-star resort. ABSOLUTELY NOT! This is a 3-star AT BEST. If it was properly labeled as a 2 or 3-star, I would not have this complaint, as I would be understanding of some of these issues. But, as a 5-star, this is completely unacceptable. When you check in, there is only one person running the lobby and front desk. So if that person is working with a customer, there is no one else to greet guests, but as you'll see in my notes later, there is no one to answer any phones! Also, that person will be in jeans and sneakers, and look like some random person on a couch with a laptop. It's all super strange. I waited 20 minutes to just get started on my check-in process. When you get to the room, it's at best like a motel off the side of the highway. I had a room with a "hot tub" on the balcony, but I do not recommend you get this room. They only provide you with two - Only two thin full size towels in the room. The type of towels you get at a dollar store. So we wanted to call down for more towels. BUT, there are no phones in the room! You have to use your cellphone to call the front desk. But, since there is only one person, if he's with a guest, no one answers. I never found a time that they ever answered the phone. Then we find out that the hot tub doesn't work. Eventually, I got a staff member and they tried to fix it. He tried but found out that when he was able to get it hot, it caused other issues in the building so we were not able to use it hot. So that was a WASTE!Then there is the AC. It's a super cheap AC unit that would not get the room cold no matter what temperature you set it at. This is a MUST in a hot Mexican environment.Next, the toilet doesn't flush well. Takes 5-10 times to completely flush a toilet so that it is completely clear of any waste. Then, you have the wi-fi. It doesn't reliably reach the room. It goes in and out and it was basically unusable. So, no tub, no AC, no-wifi, no reliable toilet, no towel service, no front desk, no phones, etc...How is this a "5-star hotel"? Why would anyone want to stay here?

I highly recommend this cute boutique hotel! There's motivational and inspirational quotes sprinkled around the property. A delicious breakfast was included in our package. The hotel is centrally located next to a pharmacy and across the street from a convenience store. The food from the onsite restaurant was delicious and the service was terrific. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is next door to Tantra and Taboo which we easily walked to for day club and evening events. The club music can be heard from 12pm to approx 11:30pm. It didn't bother us. We were also allowed to play our own speaker in the pool area. Unfortunately, there was a lot of seaweed so we didn't go into the ocean, but loved that we had a pool and a poolside massage. They also offer sunrise/sunset Yoga sessions available.

Dune boutique hotel was 110% of the phenomenal place to stay. The hotel was extremely clean. The rooms were organized and spacious. There is a clean very thoroughly every day. The food was delicious. The service was extraordinary. The beach views were amazing and clean. The front desk staff are very helpful in planning tours and booking taxis. I would say we have absolutely no complaints and would easily stay here again. They even decorated our room for my friends bachelorette and it was phenomenally decorated! I highly recommend this hotel without any reservation!
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely Awful - Almost Ruined Vacation.
My wife and I were supposed to stay here for a full week at the end of May. We made it three days before leaving for another hotel. It's located right next to Taboo Tulum - which is a d***chey club that blasts house music from 12pm to 2am. So all day at the beach, all you hear is club music. And all night, you can't sleep until after 2pm when the music stops. Then all morning, you just imagine hearing more club music because it's like a mental torture. The Dune Owner knows about this and did nothing to help us after three nights of me begging for a partial refund. We just wanted anything to help book another hotel further away but they refused. The owner is awful and greedy to not show some sort of understanding for our plight. Literally had to throw away a thousand dollars to get out of there so we could salvage what was left of our week in Mexico. The food and drinks are also terrible at the restaurant - which is why they make it free for most guests. The pool is tiny and easily overrun by a loud group of wanna be instagram influencers (which also happened to us as 8 young girls would take over the pool each day). ALSO the power went out constantly at Dune. So you can't shower or flush the toilet for hours at a time. Just imagine how gross that can't be when it happens at the wrong time...yeah.The beds and pillows are also horribly uncomfortable for what it's worth. Only makes it harder to fall asleep while the club music blares next door. The pool is only important because the beach is COVERED WITH SEAWEED. It's apparently a natural phenomena (maybe global warming or due to oil spills) but just google images of Tulum's coast. You literally can't get past it as it washes up all along the coast and stays in the water for hundreds of yards so there's no swimming past it.Skip Dune, Skip Tulum if you want to have any hope of a decent, relaxation beach vacation. We salvaged our trip by spending three days at Isle Mujeres off the coast of Cancun and it was BEAUTIFUL! Crystal clear blue water and chill people - no gross, trashy influencer types ruining nature's beauty with their selfie props and artificial personalities. Tulum + Dune = Ruined Vacation. And I hope the Dune owner reads this and knows a simple few hundred dollar refund would've changed everything for us.
