Went to the Edison tonight For a birthday dinner for my daughter, son-in-law grandson.. the food for the most part was great.. the waiter zero enthusiasm.. zero engagement with us.. that's why he only received about a 10% tip.. I hope when the other servers that are enthusiastic and take care of their customers tells him about the tips that they make ...he thinks for a minute.. it doesn't cost me anything to be engaging with my guest and show some enthusiasm.. I guess that's why my coworkers are making twice when I make in gratuities

Tried several times to give this another chance but unfortunately it's just a bad experience. Starting with hostess. Rude. Hateful. Doesn't the management monitor these people at all? It's sees the tone for the experience and it went downhill from there. I made a special reservation and requested patio. Denied. No explanation just no. Then I was told that even with a reservation it is first come first serve. Kinda defies a reservation. We are locals and every time we have guests visit we try to take them here. Never, ever, again. We left before water was served. Shame on Omni. Shame on Grove park.

Table was ready at reservation time, hostess was exceptional, excellent view Server was knowledgeable, efficient and effective, just not very charming. No delays with drinks or food. Drinks- Watered down Pretzel Bread ++. Warm and fresh. Butter was flavored with mustard and a hint of horseradish. Beer cheese dipping sauce was great Trout dip --. Very little fish. Lots of mayo and other things Steak Frites Steak ---. Frites+ Steak tasted like a grocery store steak and was severely undercooked. Overpriced. Frites were very good, crispy on outside, fluffy inside

I showed up at the time of my reservation, and I was told to have a seat because they were trying to seat others that had missed their appointed time. I sat and waited, but I was ignored. I finally told them that I had a reservation and I want to be seated. I was seated beside a dead fly in the window sill!! My food was cold. The server took it back to the kitchen, and when it was returned, it was a little warm. The meal tasted horrible, and after a few bites I felt ill. I will NEVER return to this restaurant. Shame on you Omni for not vetting this restaurant.
Nice views but good is not worth it
Not much taste to the food. Go elsewhere as you can get nice views at the Sunset Terrace instead. There is nothing special about the food. Trout dip is just mayonnaise.
Edison is just not it sadly.
I love love love this hotel, the Omni Grove park but their restaurants are just not it. Staff was not the nicest and overall just not helpful and seemed like they didn't want to serve us. I wanted to love my meatloaf, which is a popular item and seemed very good but it was so dry. Even with the BBQ sauce it was hard to get down. Don't waste your money here. The view over the mountains is neat but you should just drive into town a bit and look up some highly rated restaurants.
What a shame.
This place is only good for the view. It's like they aren't even trying. The dry meatloaf on wonder bread, It really killed even the sunset. Please never put my Manhattan on ice and let's serve an old fashioned with a cube. Everyone knows you can afford it. Server was nice though.
Nice! The salmon and the tagliatelle were both delicious.
Great views and selection of window seating facing west for sunset. Good drink selection as well.
So good!!!
Edison at the Grove Park Inn was an unforgettable dining experience! From start to finish, everything was perfection. We started with the pimento cheese appetizer served with crispy lavash crackers—rich, flavorful, and the perfect way to begin our meal. For entrées, I had the bolognese, which was absolutely divine, while my husband enjoyed the brisket, which was tender, smoky, and full of flavor. Dessert was just as spectacular. I indulged in the Nutella brownie, while my husband had the chocolate jar. My friend had the raspberry cheesecake which was almost too pretty to eat! Beyond the incredible food, the service was outstanding—attentive, friendly, and seamless. The warm, inviting atmosphere only added to the experience. We loved every bite and can’t wait to return!

Food, drinks, service, nothing sort of amazing! I had the tomato soup and grilled cheese. My husband had the burger.
Deplorable Food!
The food was not only tasteless and barely Luke warm. The bread was hard as a rock. We ate maybe 1/4 of our meal and went back to our room and ordered pizza!! It was completely unacceptable! We paid, tipped our waiter well and made the management aware the next morning. With only an apology! No compensation. We will never return and absolutely do not recommend.

Horrible food! We went to support Asheville and surrounding area, having been to Grove Park many times... This was honestly the worst meal we have had in a very long time. From anywhere! We litteraly ate maybe 1/4 of our meal, went to our room and ordered pizza. we paid for our meal and tipped well, told management about our experience the next morning with only an apology. It was so bad that we will not be back!
First things first.
..the food was incredible! We started with the pimento spread and the brussel sprouts. Both were great but my fave was the pimento spread - warm and bubbly with pickled jalapenos. My hubby ordered the Caesar salad with blackened chicken and it was very good - but seriously, what can you do wrong with a Caesar salad. I ordered the shrimp and grits and it was some of the best that I've ever had...this is an item I often order in the south so I have tried it lots of places. The kids' menus were better than typical - think salmon, not just chicken tenders (although that was an offering). We finished with the nutella brownie and ice cream - to die for! Our server, Reese, was fabulous. Attentive but not pushy. Left items on the table that were appropriate and cleared what needed to be cleared. We were sat right next to the large windows and even though it was foggy, we loved where we were sitting. We will definitely eat here again as it was one of the best meals we have had in Asheville and we have had many a meal in that wonderful city! I mean who can go wrong with a restaurant in the historic Grove Park Inn?! Such a gorgeous hotel. If you have time, be sure to sit in the lobby for a bit with a drink and take it all in!
Beautiful view
The restaurant is beautiful, with gorgeous views. Our service was friendly. The sandwiches were tasty but our pretzel bread and beer cheese were not.

A fantastic dinner with a beautiful view! The S'mores Old Fashioned was INCREDIBLE, so fun and unique! The Ploughman's Board had an impressive variety of bites and the Deviled Eggs were some of the best I've ever had. Service was very attentive and efficient. I would absolutely recommend Edison to anyone looking for a delicious and picturesque meal!
Very Nice
Maurice was our ambassador to an enjoyable meal. He was most attentive and gracious without hovering. For appetizers, we shared and recommend the pretzel bread, fried green tomatoes, and deviled eggs. Two of our adult grandchildren had the salmon, and were thoroughly pleased. Three of us had the shrimp and grits. We thought they were enjoyable, but my wife and I have had better in other nearby restaurants. The Edison has a fine wine list and makes very good cocktails. Enjoy
Great place, food & service.
Cat was an excellent waitress! Definitely worth a visit!!

Service was fantastic, Lindsey was our waitress and she was very friendly and helpful. We sat outside to catch the sunset but honestly we were blinded by the sun and it was super hot so it was hard to really enjoy the experience. While the view is spectacular, you do not need to eat on the patio to enjoy it. I would recommend doing this if both the sun and temps were just right. The food is on par with a resort pricing however the food really wasn't outstanding, but it was good. I really enjoyed the pretzel appetizer and the pimento cheese was also good. I also had the fried green tomatoes, just a bit under seasons in my option but better when I threw in some of the pimento cheese. The resort is beautiful and you can walk around and take in the history and the views.
The Edison has amazing views, and is overall a great place
The Edison has amazing views, and is overall a great place to eat. The server was lovely, kind, and had great recommendations of things to do in the area and around the Inn. However, the food overall was very average. I ordered the salmon with broccolini and fries, and my girlfriend got the oysters, one of the specials. Overall, everything was okay, but for the price point and the location I sort of expected more depth of flavor. Not enough to complain or anything, but in terms of dining, it wouldn't be number one on my list of things to go to in Asheville.
We went here for dinner during our trip in Asheville.
I've been to the Vue, but this time we went for less formal. Our service was exceptional, and our server was friendly and on point any time we needed anything. We started off with the Thai beef lettuce wraps. Very tasty! Our server warned us they were a bit messy, so she brought bigger sharing plates and wet wipes. I thought they would be pre-rolled wraps but understood the messy part when they were brought out. Time to make your own! I recommended them to another guest at the bar that night after they were thinking of getting the wraps. The beer selection was decent & my Jack & coke was definitely not on the light side. Props to the bartender. Next on to Edison Butter Butter Chicken, it was very nice and had great flavor! I think it could have used a little more seasoning personally, but it was still really good. The Naan bread was a little on the dryer side but not terrible. And last the Seared Salmon. The portion of the salmon was nice, and being asked how we liked the salmon cooked was great. The sides, though, were a little skimpy. I would have liked more for that plate. All in all we were very pleased with dinner
Beautiful outdoor dining w/ a view.
Tasty burgers Service was great, came during lunch so it was not too busy.

Good food, lovely view , did want more out of the experience 8/10 do recommend if near
Nice experience at the Grove Park Inn.
We loved the food and the cocktails are good. We were not hotel guests so self parked in the parking garage. We thought our parking would be comp as we spent money in the restaurant for appetizers. Drinks. And dinner. They do not comp parking at all. We had to pay an additional $12 for self parking in a dirty smelly parking garage with their storage equipment. Not really a great ending to a nice evening out.

Food is fine, just as a warning, DO NOT fill out the seating preference when you are reserving a table. Something told me that if I do, I was going to get a terrible table. I asked for a seat with a view if possible, arrived, lots of empty tables with great views and we are behind the rocks. I worked in restaurants before. I know how people like to be funny. I should have known better to request it.
Great service and ambiance, but a limited menu and drinks
Great service and ambiance, but a limited menu and drinks so strong you will be glad you're not driving anywhere. The Fried Green Tomatoes were chef-kiss!!! The Asheville Hot Chicken Sandwich was good and the fresh crunchy pickles made it. The Salmon dish was not the best Salmon dish I have ever had. In fact I've had much better. It was the parsnip - tomato medley in a lemon sauce that fell short, not the actual grade of Salmon (The Salmon itself was great, it was the flavors of the dish that was a let down). The Grove Park Inn really needs to work on the cocktails. I have tried several different bars at the resort and they all could peel paint!!! I would expect a drink selection and quality like Eddie V's at a 5 star resort! I still love you though, Grove Park Inn... xoxo
We loved this place! Came here for dinner during our stay
We loved this place! Came here for dinner during our stay at the OGPI and had a great experience. The drinks were delish (loved the espresso martini, French 75s, and raspberry chocolate martini), the food was fresh, and we loved our server Rebekah! She was amazing and went above and beyond to make sure we had a nice evening. Would highly recommend asking for her if you visit here. Not to mention, the views were incredible. It is worth it for the view alone! It was one of our friend's 50th birthdays and they really treated her like a queen. We would definitely return here! Thanks, Edison!!
Perfect birthday celebration!
From the food, cocktails, and atmosphere, this was the perfect spot for a surprise birthday celebration! HUGE shout out to our server, Jennifer. She went above and beyond in her service and took care of so many extra things to make our surprise so wonderful!

Got in at the last minute and the hostess was extremely friendly to work with us on moving our existing but later reservation. Food was fantastic and the whole place is wonderful. Never had a bad meal here and will continue to make it one of our go to places.
Among the most picturesque restaurants in Asheville
Edison, with its incredible views, contemporary style, and cozy fireplace, is visually stunning. 🍽️ Service is consistently top-notch. 🍽️ My kale salad was both gorgeous and tasty, I must admit, even though I can’t stand kale. 🍽️ Meatless choices tend to be limited here, so I really appreciate the addition of a vegan/vegetarian bratwurst, adorned with wonderful goodies and served on a pretzel bun. While I get the idea of a pretzel bun for the brat, it was very heavy without adding significant flavor, dulling the goodness of the other components and diminishing the success of the dish. The fries, though, were fantastic. 🍽️ The good ‘ol GPI is, sadly, not what it used to be. The new owner, money-grubbing corporate behemoth Omni, has banished the community from the spa. And they treat us like garbage when we attempt to view the gingerbread houses at Christmastime - trying to get onto the property during the event, you may be told “we are full, try back later,” even though inside sources subsequently debunk that false narrative. And if you’re somehow able to get in, you’ll find jacked-up parking fees during the holidays - a strident, ugly example of opportunistic price-gouging at its worst.
Best jumbo wings ever (with a view)
After exploring the hotel and gingerbread house displays for the early part of the afternoon, my family and I cozied up in this absolutely gorgeous restaurant where you can see the sunset and mountains on the horizon. Large open windows and friendly service added to the atmosphere. I ordered the Asheville hot chicken sandwich and jumbo wings (made in Texas Pete honey hot sauce), and while both sound like the same dish, they were totally unique experiences. Some of the best wings I have ever had - and saying that, is bold. Kudos to the chef. I detail my experience (check link in bio)
Pricey. Great venue. Food ok
Waitress was great. Food was good and pricey. Had shrimp and grits; hanger steak and salmon. Shrimp and grits were too spicey. Hangar steak was cooked perfectly but tough. Salmon was salmon. Three wines and two beers among four people raised a tab of $261. Without tip
good time
just a great casual place to get together great food and service , Everyone had a great time and all enjoyed there dinner and drinks
A cruise ship restaurant on land
I'm disappointed with the Grove Park Inn. It just seems too much like a cruise ship and if you like that sort of scene, then maybe you'll like this place. But since the two modern wings were added on, this hotel is just a giant cruise ship on land with too many people, overpriced parking, overpriced food, overpriced made-in-China souvenirs. We went to have dinner and then see the Gingerbread House exhibition. The menu selection at the Edison is fairly pedestrian but it tastes good and was well prepared, but it's incredibly overpriced. The selection of "local beers" was pathetic, given the rich beer scene in Asheville and the beer and alcohol was also overpriced: a six ounce pour of mid range wine was $19! Shout out to the servers and others who work here--the service was quite good and I'm sure they have to put up with a lot. However, given the prices on the menu, AND the $25 parking charge, I sincerely hope that the servers and restaurant personnel are earning a living wage.
Inefficient Edison
Been staying at the Grove Park Inn since the 70s and dining in its various iterations. Dined at the Edison restaurant many times for apps, drinks, and desserts and to watch a game or golf match. Made a reservation for mid-afternoon for my hungry golfer husband on his birthday. Shown to a great table on the outdoor area as requested. Service was slow, and there was little coordination between the kitchen and bar. When I mentioned this to the server, she replied that she had been called in early at noon for a 3 pm shift, and that the manager was on vacation during peak leaf week. Then we were served entrees with no wine or beer, as we had requested. She responded that there could only be so much alcohol on the table at once (where, North America? Europe?), since our cocktails were finished. This, and the lags between courses, totally interrupted the flow of our lunch/dinner following 18 holes. We were told that these outside tables could not be guaranteed (high demand implied for meals only), and yet as usual they were mostly empty except for a couple who ordered a sandwich and heckled a large black-tie wedding party down below. Never once was my husband wished happy birthday. Asheville has many excellent restaurants now, and we will not waste our time here again.
Wine list prices “not updated”
Ordered two bottles of wine with dinner. The wine list had each bottle at $52, however we were charged $64 for each bottle. We questioned the manager who replied that the printed wine list prices were not up to date; so she was well aware of the discrepancy. She revised the bill, but I would never expect an error like this from an Omni restaurant. Unacceptable.
Delicious
We were staying at the Grove Park and came here for dinner twice because we liked it so much the first time. We had the wagyu burger, shrimp and grits, charred brussell sprouts, among other things, and found it all delicious. The butter chicken fell short in the spice category. The drink menu was amazing, and I really enjoyed the craft cocktails, particularly the Starlight, so whoever came up with that one needs a raise. ;-)
Spectacular Sunset View
The sunset view here is ah-mazing! Staff was friendly from making a reservation to the end of our meal. Gracie was our hostess and she took a ton of photos for us and was so sweet! Dallan (?) was our server and answered our questions and provided great service during our meal. But the view that evening was so spectacular that even the staff were taking photos!! Also don’t skip the dessert! It was so good!
