Old schools museum needs more info on First Nations
We enjoyed the dinosaur explanations very much. Kind of an old school museum. The Egypt exhibit was good but was a strange fit… it had more info on Egyptians but almost zero regarding the First Nations people who have lived in Vegas for over 10,000 years. We were disappointed there wasn’t more information on first peoples.

This place was such a welcome surprise! Right in the heart of Las Vegas, this place is full of historical artifacts and information. We weren't expecting much but ended up being blown away. How is this not one of the top things to do in Vegas? We loved it!

A wonderful museum from local environs to world. Great for all ages. Apes to rocks and Flora and fauna
Be the first to ReplyGreat for kids.
It was a boiling hot day, so I decided to do an indoor activity, and this is a little gem. It is really aimed at children, but I spent a very happy hour looking at the exhibits. It is a small museum, but filled and well set out. Lots for kids to touch and explore.

Bringing your kids to Vegas? Then put this on your list. I have never seen so many interesting things crammed into such a small building. I promise, your kids will love this and so will you.

Once year they participate in Las Vegas Science Fest and they have real -ologists (archeologists, paleontologists, biologists, etc.) Great time to become a donor to help fund events such as these!
Be the first to ReplyA Must Do in Las Vegas
If you love museums and are looking for a non-gambling, non-drinking thing to do and not spend a ton of money in Las Vegas, the Las Vegas Natural History Museum is the thing for YOU.
Be the first to Reply#1 Museum Choice of young adult visitors from Africa
Our 30-ish year old guests, a civil engineer and nurse from Tanzania LOVED this museum. They especially enjoyed the Egypt/King Tut and…Africa exhibits! They told stories about their knowledge of nature there, and even learned that a couple things they believed about some of the animals were not true. They were impressed with the Leonardo Da Vinci exhibit - not surprising given his many engineering-related inventions. All staff members were very welcoming and took time to explain more about exhibits. A great time!

We’ve visited Las Vegas many times, but never with kids, and this was the first trip that I ever knew that Las Vegas has a Natural History Museum. It’s very easy to get to, just north of the strip. Plenty of parking. Entrance fees are very reasonable. We went specifically to see the dinosaurs, and that exhibit was amazing. The dinosaurs are so huge, and loud! The rest of the exhibits were diverse, and great too. Treasures of Egypt, Marine Life Gallery, African Savanna Gallery, International Wildlife Gallery, Wild Nevada Gallery, and the Prehistoric Mammals Gallery were all very interesting. It’s a great place to spend a couple of hours with kids.
Be the first to ReplySmall museum but enjoyable
Not many people go to Las Vegas for the museums but I wanted to see this one. I was not disappointed. It is small and is easy to tour... A relaxing and educational experience....

Be the first to ReplyLas Vegas Natural History Museum
My husband and I went to Las Vegas May 10-14, 2021. We decided we wanted to do some non-gambling events, so I reserved tickets for various things including the Natural History Museum. We took the bus (RTC) from the bus terminal downtown. The bus driver assisted us with the correct bus stop. There were interactive exhibits kids seemed to enjoy. My husband and I enjoyed the history, but it just didn't meet our expectations. It was plain to see several of the animals were old and maybe hand-me-downs. There were some good exhibits but not what I expected.

This is a well laid out, small museum. Very informative displays throughout the museum. Because the museum is small it can be toured relatively quickly. Most interactive displays remain functional in the Covid era. There are plenty of sanitizer stations.

I was pleasantly surprised by this museum. We went as soon as they opened, and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed the Egyptian section of the museum, and spent most of our time looking around in there. Overall, it's a good museum to visit if you're interested in learning about the desert surrounding Las Vegas and seeing some artifacts that you won't find anywhere else. If you go now, they also have a Christmas/holidays around the world display in their main hallway.
Be the first to ReplyGreat small museum at a low cost
To start off the excellent rating is what you get for hte price. This is a very resonable stop with lots of exhibits and some interactive ones as well. I was suprised by how many sound clips, smelling stations, videos and hands on exhibits this location has. You can see they put a lot of work into it. It does have a very strange mix of things but that is ok as you get a little of everything. You get a room that shows some scenes of animals, a rocks and minerals room, Egyption room, a rain forest display, dinosaurs, and even some live sharks and sting rays. Overall I felt like I got my money's worth. The staff was very friendly and you can tell they are are passionate about the work they do here. It certinaly is worth and hour of two of your time.
