Elina's is one of (if not the) best Italian restaurants in
Elina's is one of (if not the) best Italian restaurants in Chicago. A rare combination of immaculate food AND immaculate vibes. I've eaten here at least 10 times since it opened so this review is long overdue. It never misses! It's a tiny restaurant, but it has a great ambiance and contemporary decor. The menu is also small, but it is impeccable. My three favorite dishes hands down are the spicy vodka rigatoni, the chicken parmesan, and the Italian chopped salad. This is THE best spicy vodka rigatoni in Chicago (it's obvious that the chef came from Carbone in New York City!) It's always served piping hot, and the flavors are impeccable; it has that classic vodka rigatoni taste without being too spicy. The chicken parm is also phenomenal; again, it's always served warm (one of my biggest pet peeves is when Italian food is lukewarm), it has just enough breading, and the sauce and cheese are delicious. The eggplant parm is also a winner. Service is always attentive, and this is definitely a restaurant that pays attention to the details. Like Carbone in NYC, Elina's serves complimentary homemade table bread, pickled eggplant, and cured meats at the start of the meal. It's a nice, elevated touch! I cannot recommend Elina's enough! I LOVE this place, and I definitely get cravings for that spicy vodka rigatoni.

Be the first to ReplyThe reason to go there is the food and food only.
Staff is very young and needs to be trained on the word HOSPITALITY especially the hostess.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food & service.
Our server was super attentive and had great recommendations. We really enjoyed meeting the owner Eric!! The chicken parm was amazing, I can't wait to go back & try their other dishes!

Elina's is by far one of my favorite Italian spots! I would highly recommend getting a table outside when it's warm out but sitting inside is nice too! The waitresses were all very friendly and the service was fast. If you get one thing, let it be the vodka pasta. It was the best vodka pasta I've had in my entire life and I've tried a lot.
Be the first to ReplyThis place was great for Italian food.
The rigatoni a la vodka as well as chicken Parmesan along with a few other menu items we ordered were all delicious. They give you complimentary bread too which is so good. Can't wait to go back again.
Be the first to ReplyFood was ok, best dish to me was pepper ribs.
Food wasn't memorable. Service was great . Ambiance lively and busy. We sat at the bar. Ordered food immediately. Came mostly for the vodka pasta and was not impressed. Ribs needed to be evenly coated. Sweet sauce was all at the bottoms maybe just drizzled
Be the first to ReplyHoly cow.
This place is worth it. Worth it all. I feel often times I walk away feeling underwhelmed. I literally cannot express how delicious this meal was. We started with the baked clams which I will say weren't the star but were great. You get all complimentary bread with your meal which is great. We were served a very shareable portion of the shrimp scampi and the rigatoni. And we almost couldn't finish. Oh I almost forgot we got the italian mojito and it was perfect. The ambiance is awesome so cute and cozy. The service was fine. Not show stopping by any means but definitely nothing to complain about. Parking was fairly easy as well. I will be trying to convince my fiancé to take me here weekly 10 out of 5 stars
Be the first to ReplyI came here to try the infamous Carbone rigatoni alla vodka.
However, I think the dish fell short. The pasta was overcooked for my liking (broken from being mushy) and there wasn't enough sauce. Skip this place if you're going for the rigatoni alla vodka. I also got the caesar salad & that was pretty good but nothing amazing. They do give complimentary bread, salami, and pickled beets that were great. The service was very good & the ambiance is intimate and chic.
Be the first to ReplyVery pleased with a late dinner for four.
Interesting drinks, two appetizers and four entrees all shared. Two pasta, short ribs and scampi. All hits. Service was efficient and well timed.

I came for the rigatoni pasta and loved every bite! We also ordered the Caesar salad, it is crispy and fresh with giant croutons. Soo good. Chicken parm for the table was perfect size to share, we were a party of 3. Had to get the parm fries as well. Overall great dining experience and would definitely come back.

This is one the first reservations I made a month before visiting Chicago! I was excited to try Elina's and it definitely did not disappoint. My reservation was at 9pm and we were seated promptly. The restaurant is very small and the tables are close to each other but that's what gives the restaurant intimate and romantic vibes. I forgot our server's name, he was very welcoming and friendly. He even gave us tips about Chicago since we are from SoCal. We ordered a bottle of rose wine and it was delicious. Their bread, salami, and pickled eggplant was a perfect way to start the meal. I normally don't like eggplant, but their pickled eggplant had the perfect tartness. We ordered the chicken Parmesan and rigatoni alla vodka! The chicken Parmesan was tasty; perfect breading and the cheese on top was yummy. And their rigatoni alla vodka is AMAZING, the pasta was cooked al dente and the sauce was delectable, the bread crumbs also added a nice touch. I couldn't stop eating the pasta lol We finished everything and was super full when we left. We probably would had leftovers, but we were traveling. Elina's has a good price point and big portions. I can't wait to go back when I'm in Chicago, I'd love to try their other dishes (probably would order the vodka pasta again, it was that good). 10/10 recommend for an intimate romantic date night.

This is the best restaurant we've been to in a long time. I now understand why reservations are so tough to get. It's for a few reasons: #1 it's an intimate place, not many tables. They do accommodate walk-ins especially at the bar. #2 the food is outstanding! #3 service was excellent. I hope you DONT go though. Because we want to go back soon and often. We don't need you taking my table. It's really that good. We are dreaming about the bread starters. Both pastas were delicious. Frito misto was perfect. It had a subtle, light fry that complimented the seafood without overpowering it. The ribs were fall off the bone delicious and unique. My wife's steak was incredible! They are going to need a bigger place to accommodate demand. They are really doing everything right. One minor complaint if they read this: the chairs. The table chairs are uncomfortable. Although I'd eat their Rigatoni sitting on nails and broken glass if I had to.

Great neighborhood Italian spot with simple, well executed classics and an intimate ambiance. Rigatoni alla vodka was as good as it looks, meatballs also excellent, and the huge croutons in the Caesar salad were very buttery but also delicious. Great value for what you get too with complimentary bread and salami.

The table we were sat at was literally inches away from tables on either side of us. The food was average at best. We ordered our meal 5 mins before the table next to us who ordered the exact same meals as us. They were served well before we were. At some point in the night they decided rap music was appropriate for an intimate Italian dinner. The tiramisu dessert was very good. Will not be back.

Went to Elina's for a Valentine's Day dinner date and when I tell this place lives to the hype! The Ambiance screams romance which was perfect. The service was good and quick. The food, man when I tell you it was good. We ordered the chopped salad which was hands down one of my favorite salads I've ever had from a restaurant. The house bread with salami and pickled egg plant was delish. For entrees we order the rigatoni, ribs, and chicken parmigiana. I will say that the rigatoni was phenomenal but the star of the show were the ribs. They were savory with some sweet and enough acid to balance. We will definitely becoming back for those. I will say the chicken parm was a little overhyped in my opinion, it was good but nothing to write home about but everything else was beyond stellar. This place is a must try!
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, great service, and amazing vibes at Elina's.
We came from Michigan to celebrate my 40th birthday on the recommendation of several friends who live in the area. We were not disappointed! We will definitely be back again soon.

Finnnaaallllyyy got a reservation here at 5:45pm on a Tuesday. I had wondered why it took me so long to get a spot here and realized why when I came in. The restaurant is small - there is no more than 12 tables in the place along with the bar. That being said, make a reservation early or if you're a pair of two, try and walk in and sit at the bar - it is open seating. For appetizers we ordered:Fritto Misto (4/10) - too much breading and very oily.Caesar Salad (6/10) - amazing croutons and good flavor but drenched in dressing.Baked Clams (2/10) - greasy - I did not care for this at all.Mozzarella en Carozza (5/10) - how bad can a crispy mozzarella sandwich really be? This wasn't bad I was just tired of oily fried apps at this point.FREE house bread (10/10) - came with olives and meat. Best app and it was the one we didn't pay for. For dinner:Rigatoni alla Vodka (1000/10) - absolutely to die for and what the restaurant is known for. I still dream about this at night (and during the day). Fusilli alla Norcina - (8/10) really good but my least favorite of the pastas. Creamy but still light. Really good sausage. Penne & Prosciutto - (9/10) another amazing pasta dish. So creamy and tasty. Noodles perfectly al dente. All in all - SKIP on the apps and enjoy the free bread. Indulge on all the pasta!! I will come back here, sit at the bar, order a glass of wine, eat my free bread and a whole Rigatoni to myself.
Be the first to ReplyWe had high hopes coming here.
Considering the restaurant mimics Carbone. The food was no were near as good and was overly oily. BYOB spot, but they charge you $10 per person.
Be the first to ReplyThe food was exceptional.
The focaccia to start is SO good - it's on the house. For four people, we ordered one Caesar salad, one fritto misto, one Penne & Prosciutto, and two Rigatoni alla Vodkas. We tried to order meatballs but they only had 1 meatball left at 7:45 on a Saturday so we each had a bite. We also ordered a bottle of wine and some cocktails. It was plenty of food and worth the price. However, the service was just... off. Each time we asked a question (for ex, red pepper flakes or extra bread) we were met with confusion or scoffing. Several staff members took care of us as well, and it was consistent across the board. Our plates were also taken in the middle of eating, which was strange. The space is very small, so the lack of warmth from the staff felt more like NYC than Chicago. After fighting for a reservation, I wish we had a more hospitable experience. We felt very awkward and unwelcome, esp. as a high-paying group. I'd be fine ordering takeout for my next time.

my mum was in town over the holidays and we treated her to a goodbye dinner at Elina's, which had been on my list for a while now after coming across them somewhere. my mum both loves Italian food and is a notoriously difficult and finicky person to please restaurant-wise. and we made the correct choice! it was a lovely way to finish the trip. starting with the breads (she's a sucker for great bread)! the garlic and pizza-style bread were incredible. the caesar salad (those croutons!) and shrimp cocktail were great to start with and share. and all the dishes we ordered were fantastic. i particularly enjoyed the simple and tasty angel hair scampi. and the fries were perfect. the portions were significant and good to share. i'm a sucker for fizzy drinks so the Casamara Club Soda (both styles, though i prefer the more bitter one) was the perfect accompaniment. the spot was also super cozy and small (and easy to get to and park as we had a car during her visit).the missing star was for the disappointing lack of dessert, just cannoli it seems (i'm not a fan, but i'm sure it is tasty). a more robust dessert option would push this over for me.
