We were here for a private event and they did not disappoint. Wonderful setting right in Downtown Sacramento! Beautiful interior and decor. Staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable on their food and servings. Chef was on hand and sommelier as well. Most of the food was delicious and delectable aside from one or two. This being a private event understandable that would be different than in person dining but still a very memorable experience I wanted to share

My wife and I had a nice dinner last night at Ella but there were problems. For some reason each time I ordered a really expensive glass of their finest red wine it came to my table ice cold - like it came directly out of the refrigerator. No high-end restaurant would ever serve a $60 per glass of wine this way to a customer. Even the dessert wine was bone-chilling cold at the end of the meal. Furthermore, the dinner wine was so cold that I couldn't enjoy it nor could I even taste if it was any good as it was numb paired with my dinner. It was a frustrating experience. I even told the waitress who just blew me off. The food was good but as I said it was misaligned with the paired wine as recommended by the waitress, thus ruining the dining experience. I'm not sure why this is happening. We choose this restaurant when we want a fine dining experience. However, I believe we now are going to look elsewhere because of our experience and having to face that corresponding bill for that experience.

Dining at Ella is truly an experience!! The ambiance is perfect for a date night or a special occasion. I love that they always have fresh flowers on the tables and around You start off the night with small bites, or a flavorful appetizer - the steak tar tar is one of my favorites!! It's hard to resist, but make sure not to leave room for the rest of the meal! The oysters were so good we ended up eating about a dozen each, the lobster is also a top pick with great presentation served on a well laid out platter. The waiters and waitresses are always friendly and attentive. I had a great time and can't wait to be back to celebrate another special occasion!

Amazing atmosphere, great service and wonderful food quality. Pricey but worth the money spent.
Be the first to ReplyService was not great.
We came for happy hour. It was not made clear that happy hour was only served at the " high top tables " Happy hour is essentially $2 off a drink. There was only 10 minutes left so it would have been 1 drink. The server refused to honor it. Seemed petty and cheap.
Be the first to Replyexcellent service food was great and drinks are affordable.
Ambient was nice and location is not bad.
Be the first to ReplyCustomer service sucks.
We were there celebrating my bday. When we made reservations, I wrote on there. But no one even said: happy bday. 2nd of all, the food is over salted, so be prepared to drink lots of water. It's a fancy little place, but it's not worth the money.
Be the first to ReplyReally great service in a wonderful restaurant in the heart
Really great service in a wonderful restaurant in the heart of downtown/midtown Sac. Part of the Selland Family of restaurants, we'd been wanting to try Ella for quite some time! Food selection is fantastic with plenty of creative and thoughtful dishes. Very rich in flavor with delicious combinations of ingredients cooked well. Had the crispy lamb and the risotto - both were excellent and would recommend. The raclette potatoes were fantastic! Wine and drink list is extensive. Their signature gin and tonic is a great choice. Ambiance is warm and energetic with plenty of after-work gatherings and friends catching up. Great place for a romantic meal or celebrating a birthday or special event. A bit on the pricey side, but overall worth if you're able to save up a bit to enjoy this as your evening out.

One of the best restaurants I've been to! I went for my birthday dinner, we were a party of 6. We all left happy with every single thing that we ordered. I had the Crispy Fried half chicken and Crispy Raclette potatoes. It was so delicious! Everything was cooked to perfection. Even the side of carrots were amazing! Oysters were so fresh too. The staff was attentive and had great customer service. Will definitely recommend.

I've always wanted to eat here so I decided to visit this restaurant with a friend for happy hour. I made a reservation through Yelp, and upon walking in we were seated right away. When the waitress came to our table with some waters, she asked if we were dining for any special occasion. I quite plainly replied "I've been wanting to try out the happy hour menu!" I'm glad I said this because that is when she explained to us that happy hour dining is only served in the lounge area and it is shared seating at one long table. She walked us over and helped us get situated and we thanked her. Luckily we didn't have to wait too long until another waitress came by to ask us if we were ready to order. We ordered a couple of cocktails and for food we got the crispy chicharrón tacos, the steak tartare, and the Caesar salad. Everything was delicious and the prices were reasonable. Will definitely be visiting again!

The mushroom risoto and gimlet were amazing, however the seabass was dry and the server seemed very distracted. Just a job for him. Which I get but when you work for a high resturant should be more present. Forget things was not engaging.

Food is AMAZING! And the service is 10/10! I felt so welcomed and everyone was very nice. I came here with my family and everyone enjoyed their food. Definitely a place to get all dressed up or a cute date. Also the champagne was good!

Everything here was sooo delicious ! Our server Julian was so very nice with all the right recommendations for our group. The ambiance was a little loud , but it was lunch hour so reasonable. Great restaurant forMeetings near the capital and just a quick bite to eat but be full for the day!

I've been here a few times now, at different seasons, so there were different menu options. The ambiance is lovely. Some of the starters, while beautifully presented, lacked a balance of flavors. It felt like something was missing and it was very easy to figure out what would have elevated the dish (maybe an acid here or a hint of spice there, etc). Drinks are subjective to taste, but overall well-made. The first couple of times, I was consistently impressed and enjoyed EVERYTHING I had. I recommended the restaurant for out-of-town guests, if it came up. The last two times, it's honestly been very mediocre. Not sure what's going on, but I hope they turn it around soon.

and I stumbled upon Ella Dining Room and Bar by accident last evening. We were looking for a bite to eat before heading over to the Golden 1 Center to see Depeche Mode.We didn't have a reservation, but the hostess said we could sit at the bar or the high top tables in the bar area. So we found a countertop facing the street and parked ourselves. William arrived to take our order so we started off with drinks first. The Mrs. had her usual and I tried the Ella Manhattan which is made using Ella's own single barrel bourbon. I'm always hesitant to try an in-house bourbon. I've had several and they can be hit or miss. Ella's was definitely a hit.The menu at Ella is simple in its presentation, but definitely a culinary journey worth embarking on. We started ours with the Wood Fired Pork Belly which was beautifully cooked and paired with a carrot purée, candied garlic, Aleppo chili and baby carrots. I don't like carrots. In fact, if they were the last vegetable on earth, I'd rather starve myself than eat them. But, I would have licked the carrot purée of the plate if no one was looking. I even ate the 1980's culinarily popular baby carrots. I think they were called micro-vegetables back then. The Mrs. ordered the Crispy Half Fried Chicken served with roasted garlic, fried herbs, housemade hot sauce, and lemon. It was incredible. The chicken was so tender and Ella should bottle the hot sauce. I ordered the Truffled Mushroom Risotto because I'm bougie like that. Picture this, and I took a picture so you don't have to, Black Trumpet and Hedgehog mushrooms, farm egg, Italian Summer Truffle and Parmesan all dancing together in one beautiful culinary ballet of textures and flavors. The butteriness of the egg mixed with the truffle made my taste buds dance. It was a culinary disco like no other. The service we received from William was incredible. He asked if we were going to the Depeche Mode concert because the chef makes those orders a priority. We told we were in no rush, but appreciated him asking. Ella, aside from the food, is beautiful in its design. The interior very sleek and shiny using lots of taupe contemporary lighting. A very comfortable and welcoming environment.

Came with friends to celebrate a Birthday on a Saturday night. This place was PACKED. Must have a reservation to dine here. All items on the menu were exceptionally AMAZING.. Side Note: Generally, I think Ella's food is pretty salty. We ordered...Appetizers: Hamachi Crudo, Cheese Plate, Bone Marrow's and pork belly Main Course: Risotto, Sea Bass x2, and Beef Tenderloin. Desserts: Apple & Blackberry Cobbler, Sorbet, and White Chocolate Panda Cotta.I just couldn't believe every single item was delicious, and service was on point that night. I highly recommend for any special occasions. Enjoy~

Had lunch today with colleagues from UC Davis School of Medicine. THE best cold lobster I've ever had and lots of it. The hazelnut crunch dessert was light and yummy. Valet parking saved me from getting wet. My friends had the risotto and some lemon vanilla dessert. I would order the lobster again in a heart beat. Staff could not have been friendlier.

The place is just wow!!! It is lovely and beautiful place to dine! Service is just on the top our waiter was excellent, no doubt about that very nice and lovely lady. Food is delicious be honest. I've ordered ceaser salad with extra chicken. Salad was excellent but as I looked into it the Roman lettuce it was never washed in the inside. It had sand and the dirt mad inside of the each leave. Just when you guys will go there please inspect you dish very closely so you won't end up with a surprise on you salad or at any other dish you order. Please be very cautious. Other than that everything was just fine.

We came on a Saturday evening for dinner and had a great experience from start to finish. We opted for the valet parking ($10), we were able to pay with the bill at the end of our meal and found it to be reasonable/worth it. For our drinks, we chose the pearls in paradise and their classic gin and tonic. The pearls in paradise had just the right amount of tart and thankfully not too sweet. Really enjoyable, the fun part was the popping strawberry pearls you can either eat alone or stir into your drink. However, the gin and tonic was both of our favorites. They make their own tonic water in-house, and personally, gin and tonics are never anything special to me or my first drink of choice, BUT, this is the drink. So incredibly refreshing, a must try. We shared a small plate to start, we chose the the crispy maitake mushrooms. The batter was flavorful and peppery. And as the name states, perfectly crispy. For our entrées, we both opted for the pan roasted salmon. My favorite part of this dish was the yuzu creme fraiche. So bright and citrusy, I couldn't get over just how delicious it was. For our side, we had to go with the crispy yukon potatoes and garlic aioli. The aioli is so incredibly rich, you really just need a little bit with every bite of potato, but they are generous with the amount (which we were grateful for). I wish we had more room in our stomachs to try more desserts but we saved just enough room to share one. We went with the chocolate hazelnut crunch. A really beautiful dessert, not too heavy, there wasn't any flavor that was super dominant. I feel like the mousse and the chocolate, with the little bit of bourbon ice cream blended really nicely. Every staff member was kind and friendly. Cody was our server and he was so pleasant, I felt like he was just as excited for us to be there as we were. Very knowledgeable of the menu and was ready to answer questions and give recommendations as needed. Will definitely be back!

Oysters are the best and if you can have Oliver make your drinks you are in for a treat. I followed him here from 33rd Street Bistro.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious food and drink.
This is a relatively expensive restaurant for Sacramento but it makes for a perfect date spot. Varied interesting menu options and well-balanced strong cocktails. I'd highly recommend their gin and tonic with is made with an excellent housemate tonic. They also have tasting flights of high end liquors if, for example, you are interested in shelling out $150 for .75 oz pours of three of Buffalo Trace's harder to find bottles (including two varieties of Pappy) this is the place to go on Sac.Service was not speedy but the staff was very attentive. The dining area is large and can be a bit noisy, but high ceilings help to keep things relatively quiet.

Was on ice and cut up. It was good and similar to a sushi or poke feel. Would recommend it but recommend to get a side with it.
