Pizza toppings work but deep-dish style squares are too "bready"
I'm a huge fan of Emily in the West Village and decided to try their sidekick Emmy Squared. I ordered pizza (Bad Paulie pie) which was "fine" - nothing special. Toppings were quality, but the pizza crust was too thick. They could learn a trick or two from Mama's Too on the UWS which also offers grandma squares but the crust is to die for! Emmy makes GOOD pizza, but not EXCEPTIONAL pizza, and there are too many better places in NYC for pizza. I really wanted this to be so good, and perhaps my expectations were too high.

The waitress today made the day. Having gluten $ garlic issues, she made recommendations and ensured issues were addressed. Place was clean, food was very good. Kale salad was very good, and miso dressing delicious.
Do not understand the mediocre reviews.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
Donโt waste your time.
The staff here is so horrendously rude, dishonest and outright disgusting that the food isnโt worth trying. For a new restaurant serving overpriced, underwhelming pizza in a location that had another restaurant serving overpriced, underwhelming pizza just fail, youโd think they would try to be nice and welcome neighborhood folks...NOPE. Good luck getting a reservation, they block out all times on the Resy app to seem more popular than they are and if you call, they lie. You can walk in and be told the open tables are reserved so eerily sitting at the uncomfortable bar. I have gotten tables at Raoโs, The Polo Bar, Per Se and Don Angie (some of the most popular and impressive restaurants in the world) more easily than this rat hole. On top of it, when was the last time you heard of someone going to Detroit for the food? Just to re-cap... Horribly rude staff, dishonest manager, falsely inflated hype and a salty, overpriced, tiny pizza.

A snowy Saturday, saturated with sniffling children doffing pounds of snow suits can't be easy...particularly for this branch of the restaurant recently opened. Still some wrinkles, but they seem to be ironing them out. Nice, responsive staff; remarkably remarkable food for what looks ordinary on the menu. Good work; good for the neighborhood.
