This is for Epoch's High tea.
First of all before we got there they called several times to ensure there were no allergies in the group, I appreciate the care. When we arrived the server brought over the box of loose tea samples for us to smell prior to selection, we were again asked if there were any food sensitivities. When the tea arrived they also provided little hourglasses so you could estimate how log to steep depend on your preference. Food was great (all the classics finger sandwiches, scones and petit fours) as was the service. The room is also both elegant and cozy.

Went around 12 pm and it wasn't too busy at the time, but make sure to make a reservation. The restaurant itself is very clean and beautiful, I'm a big fan of the ambience as well. Definitely one of the best places I've been for afternoon tea. First of all, the server was extremely attentive and knowledgeable about tea selection. They brought out each tea so we could smell the different notes in the blends. I ended up going with the Sencha Fukujyu Cha, while my friend while she went for the Organic Lychee. Both were excellent! They bring out a tea timer which lets you know when to stop brewing depending on if you like your tea mild, regular, or strong. You can ask for extra water since you can use your tea leaves multiple times! I was a big fan of all the sandwiches and scones. If you have any allergies, make sure to let them know when you reserve. My favourite sandwich was definitely the coronation chicken, but all of them were surprisingly delicious. Scones come with a strawberry jam, clotted cream, and rose petal jam. They were freshly baked and warm and just so so good with the jam and clotted cream. I would honestly order extra clotted cream from the get-go because it goes so well with the scones. I was too full by the end to eat all the desserts so I ended up bringing the rest home. But I did eat everything after. Although it doesn't seem like a lot, once you are eating (make sure to savour each bite) and sipping your tea, you get quite full. Overall, it was a great experience for afternoon tea and I definitely felt welcomed by the staff. The bartender even passed by and complimented my leather jacket, and if I wasn't lying I became very tempted to buy it in every colour. If you're looking for afternoon tea, I would definitely recommend EPOCH!
Be the first to ReplyQuality but you pay for it! Had a small but very nice
Quality but you pay for it! Had a small but very nice lunch there. Everything is first class but you get nothing for free here....even though you pay through the nose for it would be nice to have the illusion that you get a deal Luxury surroundings and because it's expensive no punks, kids, rappers, losers or dumb asses etc.

5/5) it was pretty good here even when busy! Ambiance (4/5) nice vibrant setting with fire-pits and music. Easy to blow through time Cocktails(3.5/5) luckily i told him to not put my manhattan on the rocks...party foul. But cocktails were decent but not amazing for the price. Food(3.5/5) the coconut shrimp is the clear winner on the menu!! The steak and shrimp was decent too. The steak wasn't as delicious as i hoped though.

It's going to be an event. Choose your tea. Sniff them all. I had the chamomile. Absolutely wonderful. I love fresh tea ingredients. They had a standard set up and a special one for my vegan wife and they were amazing. A glass of bubbly and we were set. We stayed for hours. This is not brunch. This is High Tea.
Be the first to ReplyI hosted my Afternoon Tea Bridal Shower at Epoch Restaurant
I hosted my Afternoon Tea Bridal Shower at Epoch Restaurant last Sunday, and the whole thing was absolutely spectacular from start to finish. When I first emailed the restaurant to inquire about hosting a private event there, Seamus (the restaurant and bar manager) got back to me promptly and with every bit of information that I could have ever hoped to get (which is both extremely rare and exceptionally helpful when trying to plan large scale events). Every interaction with Seamus since then and throughout the entirety of my three-month planning process was prompt, pleasant, professional, and an absolute pleasure. Decor and restaurant layout decisions, allergies and dietary restrictions, timelines,- all an absolute breeze! This restaurant and all of its staff genuinely cared so much about my having a smooth, flawless experience and it came through on absolutely every level. The day of the event, the on-site staff were endlessly helpful, flexible, pleasant and attentive. The food was perfect, the ambiance was great, the flow was smooth, and all of my guests had the opportunity to participate in a group experience that they'll never forget. I seriously can't recommend Epoch highly enough, ESPECIALLY for a private event!!!

Overall was a good experience but some minor issues kept it from being ideal. First the ambience was great. We were seated in a sort of converted pool hall with chic picture and decorations. The only issue was the seats. They were very low to the ground with back supports that sort of tilted back. It was very uncomfortable. In terms of the food, the tea was excellent. They give you a box of teas where you can smell the different flavours and choose your favourites. Really helped select. They even give you cool little hour glass contraption that lets you brew the tea to your liking. Cool touch. The sandwiches were mostly ok. There was a dill salmon tart that was amazing, but the rest were pretty average. The scones, Devonshire cream and homemade jams were excellent, definitely the highlight. Finally the desserts were good, but one of the tarts were completely frozen inside. Not a great touch considering the price. Service was good. My girlfriend has some severe allergies that I put in the reservation and the waitress came and confirmed. We were offered extra hot water without asking which was nice. Overall this was a good high tea experience. If some minor details were fixed would have been perfect. 3.5 out of 5.
Be the first to ReplyGot seated 15 mins after our reservation and the groups
Got seated 15 mins after our reservation and the groups that came behind us got seated. Their response was that they pre assign our seats and the customers haven't left yet. Took 15 mins to get the bill and had to ask two servers twice for it. The server kept doing other tasks and talking to other servers before getting us the bill. In fact, the server did that for every request we had that day including drink refills. Meal was pretty mediocre compared to the other hotel high tea experiences. Must do better at that price point.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing.
Went here for Mother's Day high tea. The quality of the food fell well short of other comparable high teas at other locations. Service was also slow. Albeit very friendly. It's really not worth the price.
Be the first to ReplyAlways interesting people watching.
An eccentric mix of characters, with periodic cameos from humans whom you cannot believe actually exist. An outstanding cocktails menu, but underwhelming wine-by-the-glass list. Best bar snacks in the game.
