WOW! Just WOW! From out of town so was so happy to try something different. Had four of us so just split a bunch and it was amazing. The restaurant is super cute and not tacky. A place you could go on a date, with family, friends, work, etc. We ordered the Gildas, Ensalada Mixta, Callos de Joan, Crudo de Vieras, Cochinillo Asado (suckling pig) all of it was amazing. Do not be intimidated by the names. I would ask the waiter for suggestions as they were super helpful. If I come to NYC again will be sure to make a visit.
Be the first to Replygreat food and ambiance.
I thought the white wine list was interesting but settled on a cocktail. would like to come back for some larger entrees
Be the first to ReplyWent here May 2022.
Cute cafe experience. A bit of salt from the many varieties of dishes with rich Spanish ham combined with the fruitiness of a Spanish wine made this a great evening. We got stuck in some of the richness of the dishes -- sausage on top of croquettes on top of duck -- but it was all tasty. Shame on us for not getting a salad. Servers buzzed around and were attentive and knowledgeable about the wines if you ask.

Starting off positive, the ham croquettes were absolutely delicious, and the flan was very good. Other than that, crazy high prices for what is being served. One of our dishes was just 3 slices of prosciutto on "house made" potato chips, and I could eat the same thing at home, same quality, with more meat and less money. Also they don't offer a single diet soda, and pretty much all of their cocktails are high in sugar so the only thing I had to drink was water (I'm a diabetic). If you can have bottles of Mexican Coke, you can at least provide a sugar free beverage as well :/ lived the croquettes though.
Be the first to ReplyJust go to Cervos instead.
Had a great run coming here monthly the last five years, my last several trips here in 2023, and now 2024 have been unforgivably bad. Thank you for all of the wonder years and farewell!!! Xoxo

Very interesting delicious offerings. Options plentiful. Everything was served timely, drinks flowed, servers checked in regularly. Good vibe throughout. Definitely new go to place when in LES.

Love Ernesto's been coming here for a lot of years the slices are large and awesome for a reasonable price. I just moved back to Cambridge after many years in LA only to be reminded Cambridge pizza is no better than LA's. So first shot I had I jumped on T and headed to the North End and grabbed a couple slices - that's a lot of pizza at Ernesto's - and was reminded what awesome pizza tastes like. I'll be coming back often for my Ernesto's pizza fix. The staff are awesome too.

Sukaldean dagoen lehiakortasuna eta tradizioa nahasten ditu menuak. Txangurro eta bacalao platerak bikainak ziren, eta artisaua den pintxoak ere ezin izan nituen ahaztu. Eskerrik asko jatetxari emandako gozamena!
Be the first to ReplyWOW! I'm absolutely blown away.
I don't understand the low reviews for this place. Spanish food is one of the cuisines that I'm most picky about, since I lived in Spain for a year. Dare I say this might be my new favorite Spanish restaurant in NYC?? Came here Saturday night at the recommendation of a friend. The ambiance was cozy and perfectly lit. The service was friendly, efficient, and well-timed. They were great at communication and coursed our food perfectly. We ordered a couple cocktails to start, then ordered wine with our food. Both were outstanding. I ordered the La Paz and my friend ordered the 5 Finger Martini. Then later we both had a glass of white wine that blew us away. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name, but the server said it was the closest in comparison to a sauvignon blanc. For food, everything we ordered was divine: - Gildas to start: anchovy, pickles, and olives on a skewer. We scooped up every bit of Spanish olive oil remaining on the plate. The quality was so high, it was drinkable, and I like my olive oils drinkable. - Alcachofas a la plancha - grilled artichokes with foie gras - the best artichokes I've ever had. My only complaint was that I wish there was more foie. - Ventresca de atun - grilled bluefin tuna belly with squid ink sauce - outstanding, couldn't get enough - Bikini Hemingway - a "bikini" in Spain is a thin sandwich, thinner than a bocato. This one had shrimp inside and was prepared similar to a panini. It had a drizzle of honey on top that sent it over the edge. The woman at the table next to us was losing her mind over it, so we decided to order it, and it did not disappoint. - Arroz meloso de buey - basically a risotto style rice with red wine braised short rib and yellowfoot mushrooms - again, it was absolutely perfect We didn't leave room for dessert, but we saw some going out and they looked delicious as well. I will DEFINITELY be back here and will be telling everyone I know about this place. Bien hecho!!!
Be the first to ReplyFood is a little too salty, like the tripe and pork.
But the pork is really tender and the sauce is amazing, just slightly too salty. Bread with the tripe is a little burnt and hard. Croqueta is pretty good. Iberico and chips is olay; meat is good, but for the chips, they are extra thin, and some are not that crispy. Flan is okay, drink is pretty good. Kinda expensive. We sit in the open kitchen area where the chefs cook, but you can't see much unless you sit at the kitchen bar. You can download the inkind app for $25 off $75.

I grew up in the restaurant business, meaning I see everything going wrong or right when I eat. My wife took me to Ernesto's for my birthday, and everything was right. The service, atmosphere, and food were spot on. Servers are all in a good mood; they are there when you need them, not when you don't. The place is spotless (light fixtures, walls, tables... no dust (on vents)---my pet peeve). The seating is comfortable, no rushing, and everyone is having a great time. And the little park across the street is delightful to look at. The vegetable stew was delicious. The Martine was perfection. I appreciated the candle on my dessert without the Happy Birthday singing. We'll be back!

Very disappointed experience and we just wanted to get outta here.Cocktails were too sweet.Croquette (Ham) - good but it's hard to mess up this one.Crab Tart - good.Lentil Squid Ink - interesting and tasty but there's barely squid and very little lentil.Iberico and Chips - it's probably the worst dish I've ever get served. I think it was around $32 and this was few pieces of fatty part of iberico with extremely fatty greasy chips tossed together. It's a joke.

I have nothing but good things to say about Ernesto's! I've been here twice and both times have been 10/10. The service is so amazing, once we were simply taking a while to decide on the food and they poured us small glasses of bubbles to try as we were deciding. The small gestures really mean so much. I can't rave about the food enough. Literally, everything is so good I wish I could come here every week. The duck was probably one of the best I've had in NYC. The croquetas are always crispy and so divine. The egg scramble of black trumpet and chanterelle mushrooms was so flavorful and fun. The paleta iberico con chips (iberico ham & potato chips) are addictive! We could not stop eating them. I will attempt to remake them at home but I know it won't be as good as their house made chips. Can I also say, I appreciate how they actually have really good non-alcoholic drinks for a restaurant. They used Ghia in a mocktail and it's one of my fav non-alc alternatives! To top it off, the ambiance is so chic, warm, and welcoming. I would recommend getting a reservation for larger groups or to sit at the table. If not, the seats at the bar are always up for grabs and just as fun!

Everthing was sooo good thank you so much, to the chef and staff and our bartender. that tortilla though absolute awsome
Be the first to ReplyGreat food.
.. BUT! I have to get of my chest the CRAZIEST THING IVE SEEN A SERVER DO! We ordered a bottle of wine that was also available by the glass. The server (Rooney Mara lookalike) arrives with our bottle ALREADY OPENED and with wine CLEARLY missing from the bottle! Like a glass worth! We were a large group and didn't want to make a scene but are you kidding me??? And yeah they charged full price for the bottle. Shady!

Recent night at Ernesto's showed a remarkable decline from my earlier visits, which I had rated 5star. Food was very inconsistent - excellent flan again, and tuna onion and ink impressed. But lamb and potatoes were poorly prepared, particularly the SOGGY formerly impressive potato. The service was also remarkably inconsistent. Sweet somelier and bartender but the servers and waiters were not helpful and there was a feeling that they would rather be somewhere else. The formerly full bar was empty and the reservation was not exactly honored. They gave the option to eat at the bar or in some adjacent room. The decline of this restaurant is very apparent. I hope this was an off off night, but I am more inclined to support a place (particularly at this higher price point) that I know will be reliably great - 1 of my 5 visits now, and the most recent to Ernesto's, was just average.
Be the first to ReplyDeeply, deeply meh.
Despite having a reservation, there were no tables available, so we ate a B- dinner at the bar instead.
Be the first to ReplyMy husband and I finally got to try Ernesto's tonight.
We had an early reservation and ate at the bar. Ernesto's is one of our new favorite restaurants. Everything we ate was incredibly delicious. Especially anything with shrimp! The restaurant itself was really inviting and the staff was equally awesome. We loved our bartender. We have had a few meals from one star Michelin restaurants this year and I honestly couldn't tell you a single dish from those places that I would prefer eat over some of the dishes we had tonight. Our bill wasn't cheap. We had starters and entrees as well as wine and we spent well over $200. But I felt it's worth the price tag given inflation, NYC being expensive but moreover, how well the food was executed. There are amazing cheap eats in NYC, if that's what you want, I wouldn't suggest this place. If all you order are a few bites and appetizers you'll most likely leave hungry as the portions are quite small. Personally, We loved this spot. We will definitely be back again!
Be the first to ReplyMaybe we didn't understand the cuisine but the main courses
Maybe we didn't understand the cuisine but the main courses were extremely salty and almost inedible for some members of our 5 person group. Appetizers were done quiet well - croquetas in particular. Overall the high price point and the quality of food did not match but the ambiance and wine selection were great. Also not sure what sort of logistical issues they had but we ended up waiting 20-25min past our reservation and saw this happen to other patrons arriving after us.
Be the first to ReplySo overpriced it is like a joke.
The food is well prepared but not so amazing that you feel anything but fooled by those prices.
Be the first to ReplyWow. What an amazingly unique meal. I have to say I did not
Wow. What an amazingly unique meal. I have to say I did not understand much from reading the menu. But luckily I have a close friend who is a regular and was able to tell me exactly what to order. I am a HUGE fan of anchovies and Ernesto's absolutely mastered incorporating them into their dishes. I was not able to indulge in the entree's the way I would have wanted to so I will have to come back again soon!Pro Tip: order the gildas and pintxo matrimonio al ajilo - its a crime to come here and not eat these dishes.
Be the first to ReplyHidden deep in LES, you'll find this cute little date spot
Hidden deep in LES, you'll find this cute little date spot with a candle light ambiance. Ernesto's delivers amazing basque cuisine, similar to what you would find in Spain. The staff were attentive, friendly, and extremely generous by giving a round on the house! Your experience here will continue to add to amazing restaurants to try on your NY bucket list. Make sure to get the duck!! And pretty much all the pinxos to start.
Be the first to ReplyWe were very disappointed in our meal; this place does not
We were very disappointed in our meal; this place does not deserve a Michelin Bib. The best thing about this restaurant for us was the large Mirรณ on the back wall that Audre could see during the meal. The menu did not have enough Basque pintxos on it and the selection that was on the menu seemed like "same ol', same ol' ". Certainly none of the descriptions caught our eye, even when our server, Cesar, described them. It did seem as if the restaurant was a popular, trendy spot. We ended up ordering the tripe "entrada" called Callos de Joan, Madrid Tripe ($16). It was good, with enough spiciness but it was a tiny dish. We ordered bread with it ($3). With our meal, we drank 2 glasses of Rioja Tentenublo ($17 x 2) that was too light for our taste, like a pinot--maybe because it is. Our second dish was the sausages "Salchichas con alubias ($34) that was uninteresting. The sausage was just sausage and not tasty enough at that. The cabbage was tasteless and the best part of the dish was the beans. We didn't see anything on the menu we wanted for dessert. We spent $94.72 plus tip and left unhappy,
Be the first to ReplyThe food was pretty darn good.
...but not fresh. It came out so incredibly fast that there's no way anything was prepared on the spot. The waiter also told us the food came pre-packaged because I wanted to order a sandwich but wanted the pork removed. The wine was good. We got the mac and cheese, chicken croquettes, shrimp skewers on toast (forgot what it was called), and chocolate cake with the red sauce. Food was very different than what I normally eat and was a positive experience. Very delicious actually. Not filling though. Portions are incredibly small and it's family style.
