Two words: salt bomb!
To Visitors of SF if you read one thing: as an SF native, I can't help but strongly advise you to visit other SF staples (ie: Flour & Water) if you'd like a proper representation of what our amazing city can offer you.
We stopped by Fiorella with high expectations as a colleague lives in the neighborhood.
We opted for the meatballs, marinara pie, and black pepper pasta. The meatballs were light and airy, but arrived lukewarm as if they were made long before we arrived. The pasta was nice and cheesy, however the pasta itself tasted almost as if it were out of a box. The pizza was a bright spot.
Unfortunately all three dishes were on the salty side. My wife noted the salt level on the pizza was so high she wasn't sure she could finish her slice.
Suffice is to say we left disappointed. We appreciated the edgy wallpaper and bathroom drawings, but the dishes were underwhelming, salty as the sea, and overpriced.
Don't get me wrong: we have appreciated properly seasoned dishes from well-esteemed restaurants, but the salt level at Fiorella was almost comical.
If looking for an interesting neighborhood experience, go for it.. but you won't be missing much if you go elsewhere. SF has much better pasta and pie. You deserve better.
