LIked this place a lot.
I'd call it a German brasserie, even though that's mixing countries. Definitely brasserie feel, dark, formal-ish, brass bars, kinda crowded tables. Vibrant to the point of loud. Very good food -- we had chicken liver pate, schnitzel, sausages, beet salad, streudel, and such. All was solid. Great service. Seems to be a locals joint, not a lot of obvious tourists about. A lot of loud businessmen and old friends kinda place. I'd come again any day -- and will.

The restaurant was undeniably beautiful and clubby but we were given a tiny table squeezed in between large loud parties and it took 30 minutes to get an initial glass of wine. My husband loved his Schnitzel and Spaetzle. Since I don't eat much meat, I had Kaese Spaetzle and cucumber salad which were fine if nothing to write home about. It was clear that "regulars" received more spacious seating and more attentive service. Given how slow the service was (to order, to get served, to get the check), I wouldn't go back.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food.
Borsht is just a tomato soup, not really borsrht. Bismark herring was excellent, so was chopped liver. Wiener Schnitzel was excellent top of the class. I do not think they will get a Michelin star any time soon, as their servers and staff especially in the front of the restaurant need much more training. But the food was great nevertheless.
Be the first to ReplyVery good all around.
The interior is well-maintained old world metro, the service is on-point, and the food is very tasty. All signs are good from the moment you walk into Fischer's. The atmosphere is really delightfully a throwback without being quaint or kitsch; you'll feel immediately at ease when you get seated. And, from start to finish the service here is pleasant, attentive, and on top of making sure you are having a plesant experience. The food is likely what you expect but just a little bit better all around. We started with the käsespätzle and bacon which was a bit more subtle than you would imagine - for Americans, this is basically an older origin of Mac n' Cheese so many of you would be well-off ordering this. We also tried a couple of the sausages which were hearty, smokey and very filling. Also on the menu was the Chicken Schnitzel which combined with the sauce and the provided pickles tasted like a really delicious fried chicken sandwich. I was pleasantly surprised by Fischer's. Definitely recommend it if you're spending some time in Marylebone.
Be the first to ReplyVery good German food.
Excellent location, service and decor. Especially recommend the chicken liver appetizer and apple strudel desert. Schnitzel was too dry even with the gravy and the bratwurst just OK.

Went to this place for brunch and it was a perfect brunch spot. Very retro interior which has cool vibes and fits with the upscale ambience of Marylebone. Very good coffee. I had the equivalent of a hash and also ordered sourdough toast and it was delicious. Definitely would recommend for a good brunch spot in Marylebone on the higher end side of things.
Be the first to ReplyVery classy dining restaurant.
Seafood is great. Be sure to ask for recommendations, staff is very knowledgeable and attentive.

Excellent breakfast options and one of our favorites! Wonderful atmosphere and near where we typically stay in Paddington.
Be the first to ReplyDas ist sehr gut! Fantastic restaurant in Marylebone.
The food is devine and the staff is somehow even better. Do yourself a favor and make this a stop in London every time you find yourself in town.

Not many quality options for this type of cuisine in the US, which happens to not only be my favorite but also my heritage, so this was a real treat for me! The atmosphere is super cozy, charming and romantic. Service was fantastic, quick and accurate. The food was delicious- schnitzel seemed to be the popular choice around me but I opted for the sausages and saurkraut which did not disappoint. The apple strudel was one of the best I've had including my time in both Germany and Austria. This will certainly be a must return destination for when I'm back in London.
Be the first to ReplyThe experience was closer to 3.
5 stars IMO, but rounding up to 4 because the Dover Sole was the highlight of this meal. This is my first experience with Austrian food, so I didn't know what to expect in terms of flavors and textures. This place did not let me down.

The only thing I liked was a odd pasta that the portion size was a quarter wine glass, the bathroom smelled like Cesar salad and the service is the slowest.
Be the first to ReplyExpensive, but excellent.
When I'm in London it a must visit for me. Food and service is of high standard.
Be the first to ReplyJust ok food.
Have been many times before and always had pretty good meals. Today I have chilled borscht which was so chilled it was flavourless, saved by delicious brown bread. For mains pastrami rosti. Rosti had been pre cooked and then heated again, so it was tough and flat - almost like a cracker. Pretty expensive too.

It was Thanksgiving Day, and I was in London looking for sauerkraut. That may sound odd, but Thanksgiving in my SouthEast Baltimore home is not complete without sauerkraut (but I agree with Mark that Cauliflower is Not traditional!) I "Yelped" for German food and found Fischer's just a few block from my hotel. The 5 block walk started dry and ended with a quick run in the pouring pouring rain. I entered and was greeted with "how long will you be here?" I may have mis-heard, so I said, "Excuse me, I'm here for supper." "Yes, will you be here long?" "Um, I'd like supper, how long does that take?" I nearly turned around and left, but did not want to be an "ugly American," so I said "I'll eat quickly and leave, is that ok?" They seated me, and I watched the same exchange 3 more times with other wet customers coming in for a meal. I got the Pierogi with Sauerkraut, and a radish salad. The Pierogi were large and flavored well - crispy and not mushy. The sauerkraut was just what I was looking for. The food was top notch, and the table service was good. I would have given 4 stars but for the encounter at the door. So odd, and uninviting.

What can I say, Germanic food is my favorite so when we saw this while we were walking it wasn't even a question about whether to check it out. And it was amazing. I ordered the Wiener Schintzel (classic) with a side of spätzle and my wife got the veal bratwurst, both were amazing. We didn't quite make it to Vienna on this trip but after this dinner I feel like I was almost there. Very content.

This is the second time I've been hustled out of Fischers after my "timed table" expired and both times after the service was mediocre at best - the staff dithers in taking orders - (we ordered cocktails 2x - they never came) no one seems to be in charge - food took over 25 minutes- then they basically tossed us out when our "time" expired. No warning. If you are going to time sittings - and I have NO problem with that - you better have a well trained staff to take orders and serve. Ive done many expensive business dinners at Fischers- but I'm done. Its a big city and a big restaurant city. It was fun while it lasted.

Service is good, food is ok but nothing to write home about given the price. The schnitzel was mediocre, I've had way better ones elsewhere. You'll have a decent meal but pay for a great one.

Viennese cafe with solid breakfast options including the pastries they are best known for. One of the relatively few places you can get American style pancakes in London--fluffy, topped with blueberries this time. Or you can opt for poached eggs with toast, or a tremendous omelette--my partner's favorite, with cheese and mushrooms. Part of the same chain that runs The Delaunay and the Wolseley in other parts of town.

Good basic Wiener schnitzel with brown sauce but no sides, which need to be ordered separately. Chicken soup with spatzel also proved to have a few scallions and a lot of shredded carrot.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food and service.
.. As well as decor and table settings. Simply sublime. Maybe a bit loud but perhaps everyone was so busy enjoying the food that they didn't notice the roar of the crowd. A long line of people waited for a table as we were leaving.
