Five Acres NYC New York Reviews from The Last Year
I want to add, 5 Acres is excellent for cranky kids.
It is located away from the crowds in Rock Cntr. Menu is perfect for youngsters, too. When the weather is steaming, it could be a travelers oasis. Just saying ...
Top of the Rock is Tops!!
This was the last observation deck that we visited on our trip to New York and well worth it. went up on a Sunday morning and therefore the line was not long at all. The views are magnificent, especially across Central Park and the Empire State building. The iconic photo of the workers on the beam can be reenacted on the observation deck and is highly recommended even for those fearful of heights.
VERY BUSY ,BUT WORTH IT
Easy access but they were strict on entry times. Didn't mind queuing for the lift as we soon got in and fast up to floor72! Then it was chaos ! - People moving about everywhere and very difficult to get to take pictures . It needed a rota system ,which should have been easy as the tickets were timed, so that so.many come out and so many in ! Views were well worth it though !
Not really worth it
We used the CityPass to get our digital ticket for 8:15pm on a Thursday night. It was packed with people and crazy hot! The viewing decks were packed and took a while to get an unobstructed view. It didn’t help that there was no breeze up at the top either. Once you do get a view, it’s beautiful. Not sure when it’s not busy, but the beam lift for $25 is a crazy price! Not sure if it was worth it.
A fantastic view of the city
Had a really lovely time up the Rock. We purchased the RockMoMa joint ticket so we could experience both attractions at a slightly discounted price, really worth it! We went in the early evening and must have timed it well as there was no queue to enter, and we were able to get right to the top really quickly. There’s about three levels to enjoy, but really enjoyed being able to have a drink overlooking the view. The gift shop is a little pricey but still some really fun things for sale there.
Top of the Rock
A fantastic experience and great views of the city that never sleeps. We had our 9 year old grand daughter with us and she was curious where everyone lives, now she knows .
Great views
We booked the top of the rock for 7.00 on a Monday evening. Queuing to get in was simple and efficient. No problems going up to the lower viewing platform. There's a cafe to buy food and drink if you want. No problems going up to the top viewing platform. It was fairly busy, but you could get to the edge and take in the view, with a bit of patience. Top of the Rock gives great views of the empire state, central Park and the south of Manhattan island. Highly recommended. There are plenty of places to get something to eat in the Rockerfeller centre.
A must see - evenings before sunset was fab!
Great place for visit 8pm in June. Friendly and efficient staff. Good amenities toilets etc. I recommend this over ESB for the above.
It’s not so great at the top
We found the experience a bit of a let down. There were long queues to actually get up to the top in the lifts. It is narrow in some areas and there were far too many people allowed in. Once you enter you can stay as long as you want and people tend to do this to wait for sunset. You can buy food and drink but seating was limited. Not enough staff to manage all these visitors we couldn’t even find the exit! There are better views elsewhere
Unobstructed NYC Vistas
The Top of the Rock offers beautiful views of New York. Of course, the observation floors are lower than the Empire State Building (ESB), but what I liked most about it is that the views are not obstructed by gates. The walls are made of a different material (not sure if it is glass), and it is easier to get a nice clear shot of the city. The only structure that was not easy to see was the Chrysler Building – it is visible, but slightly covered by another building, so a slice of the left side was in view. There is a restaurant where you can get refreshments (wine, soda, ice cream) -- I paid $17 for half a glass of Rhone. The view of the sunset is amazing.
Get the express pass!
We were able to change our dates with the Express Pass which was great since it was calling for rain. We also skipped all the lines and got a discount in the store. The views at TOTR are amazing and this is the best observation deck in NYC!
Food wasn't horrible, but not great either.
Portions are small for the price, but hey that's Manhattan. We asked for cheese on the burger and they messed that up, plus they automatically value their own service at 20% gratuity which it is most definitely not. Would not willingly eat there again.
I just came here for a drink and service was good and fast.
I got a Haymans cocktail with gin which was nice and refreshing. Standard New York price of $19.
In the heart of Rockefeller Plaza this small indoor
In the heart of Rockefeller Plaza this small indoor restaurant was surprisingly delicious. Compared to other establishments in the Plaza its very decently priced and the quality was not terrible. I would definitely recommend this over the other two restaurants. Not pictured here but the Aeprol Spritz
Really good . We got there before dark so we could see the view in daylight and then stayed for the night time view.
Brilliant . Great view daytime and night . Took an hour to get out though . I think there were too many people for The night time viewing
New York's best goddess
A very nice observation deck in the heart of New York. The best place to see the sunset! Really very atmospheric and worth the money!
Great experience
Excellent observation deck on three levels above NYC. Great views of central park and the Empire State Building. You can see the Statue of Liberty in the distance. Highly recommend this on a sunny day as the views will be even better
What a view !
Very central view of Manhattan, where on one side we can admire the Empire State Building and on the other Central Park. Even though it is not as high as the other observatories, I find the view splendid. Perhaps do it first to get that “Wow” effect before discovering the view from the other observatories.
Great views
Great way to see some spectacular views of New York. Probably the best view over Central Park. There is a new attraction called The Beam but unfortunately it was out of order when we visited.
Great views
Well worth a visit for fantastic views across New York. We pre-booked tickets and there was minimal queing. Staff we're pleasant. We were disappointed with official photos of us sitting on "the beam". Expected the photo to be edited to look like the famous "Lunch a top a Skyscraper" but it was nothing more than a photo of us sitting on a metal beam bolted to the floor.
Good but limited terrace access
I had already been there twice in the past, but it has changed a lot! The view is always superb, you can clearly see Central Park even if there are more and more very tall buildings coming up in front of it! On the other hand, what has changed is the fact that inside you now have cords for queues everywhere (before you could walk around in peace, we had more space) AND, the What's more annoying is that certain places on the terrace are no longer accessible unless you pay to take photos and I don't know what attraction! Everything has become like this now, there is the base price, we are limited and the more we pay the more we can benefit. Before it was simpler and I don’t think anyone complained about it 😅
Amazing view of the city by night
We took a late trip to the top of the rock wasn’t looking forward as the day before it was cancelled for safety reasons due to heavy snow completely understandable and the staff changed our tickets promptly. Nice friendly staff on all floors The views blew me away I thought we would see much by my god I was mistaken! The lifts were interactive and they were so much fun you could see all the lights for miles and miles. We couldn’t use the the new beam as it was closed but will return in summertime and visit again :)
unique location that proved ultimately disappointing.
Be fully aware, as others have noted, that there is AUTOMATIC 20% gratuity added to the bill. So, unless the service blows you away, adding more is not really necessary. The location deep in the bowels of Rockefeller Center (Rink Level) was one of the only places we felt would meet our needs and was open after a late Sunday afternoon theater performance. Open air-no walls-dining area pretty much in the middle of the arcade shopping area. Seated promptly and offered beverages. It felt like the staff was short a body or two as waits for attention were long for there being only a few patrons. And it dwindled during our visit. It is hard to honestly say the service was worth the gratuity. This lack of value continued into our meal. I am well aware that things cost more all around and the restaurant business is difficult and good labor is hard to attract and keep, etc. But if you have to charge $20+ for a glorified French Dip ($21) and a basic cheeseburger ($23) even if they come with fries, then maybe they should be replaced by other dishes. The French Dip is actually menu listed as a Chicago Beef Sandwich-the added house made Giardiniera being the only difference. We settled on these and after our wait, were disappointed to find dry sliced beef on one and a deeply well-done patty on the other. The au jus provided some solace on the sandwich, though it was quite salty to our taste, and more tomato condiment helped the burger. Servers asking the question on preferred doneness or a menu note would help with the burger situation. Fries were quite tasty. The meal filled us up and didn't make us sick. From our one visit, can't really recommend.
Great experience
We had an excellent day for seeing the views, lots of great things to look at!! We had both pictures taken to remind us of this amazing day.
Like some other reviewers have mentioned, this place
Like some other reviewers have mentioned, this place automatically charges 20% tips to the bill, an uncommon practice. What's egregious, is that they also include a line for you to add even more tips. Without knowing that they had already charged 20% tips to the bill, I added my usual 25% on top of the bill. When I discovered that tips were included, I actually felt embarrassed to ask for my additional 25% tips back. No customers should have to endure this kind of trickery and guilt-tripping when enjoying a VERY salty meal.

Super expensive for what it is! Food was very salty, and very oily. The Brussels made me use the bathroom nonstop.. so hard in NYC!! The calamari was salty and so was the eggplant. Maybe the burgers are better? Service was great!! The staff were so kind and nice and welcoming and patient. Ambience was definitely something special! Right inside the Rockefeller center, and it was the most beautiful restaurant inside the center. Very easy to find! A little ways away from the bathroom but the location was perfect!
Terrible restaurant.
Service is incredibly poor and slow, yet they automatically include a 20% tip/gratuity in everyone's bill, regardless of the size of your party. Way overpriced for what the food is. Charges $2 extra to swap in a side salad instead of fries, but the 'side salad' is 4 pieces of lettuce with nothing else??? Absurd. Ambiance is a bunch of tourists walking around and it's super noisy in the concourse. Will not be returning here.

Nice large open concept space in the middle of the concourse level of Rockefeller Plaza. Reminiscent of an airport lounge. I like it! Regular, American type menu including apps, burger, roasted chicken, etc. nothing fancy. I got the roasted chicken and a side of mashed potatoes. The potatoes were especially yummy, very homemade tasting and oh so buttery!! The chicken was really good as well! Very flavorful and fresh and hot. Cooked just right, and juicy not overdone like many places. My husband had a cheeseburger and he also said it was really good! That's a bonus from a burger critic!
They automatically add a 20% gratuity to your check.
Which means service sucks. You can be ignored and given crappy service and the staff will still get 20%. And service did suck. The flatbread was really a piece of bread with a ton of frisée, out of season tomatoes and over cooked bacon. The max and cheese had way too much béchamel and not enough cheese flavor.
Good looked delicious but I really wanted the lamb gyros
Good looked delicious but I really wanted the lamb gyros that are no longer on their lunch menu. Ended up with the Turkey Club which was huge. Apparently the finer dining concept was replaced with a more casual menu recently so be wary about reviews. They may be out of date.
I was so excited to try this place.
I love Rockefeller Center and I had heard there there was a good restaurant there. I was very let down. Ordered a burger and fries because I was in a hurry. The burger arrived absolutely covered with a huge piece of melted cheese. Couldn't even see the meat. I cut the cheese away and tried to eat it. The meat had absolutely no taste. It must've been frozen. The worst part was that I absolutely had zero service during my meal. I was giving a small glass of iced tea. I had almost finished it before my food arrived. When the waitress put down my burger she didn't ask if I wanted a refill & disappeared. I never saw her again. My throat was absolutely parched, trying to eat a burger and salty fries without anything to drink. I had already finished my small glass of water. Finally I saw another waitress and ask her if I could please have more tea. She said she would tell somebody. Finally a bus boy with water walked by & I begged him to please fill up my water glass. 10 minutes later when I had finished my meal my waitress finally appeared with another glass of tea. She plopped it down and left. When I got my ticket I saw that they had added a 20% tip in advance of me even having a chance to DECIDE what I felt was an appropriate tip. And the explanation? Because of the "extraordinary service of our servers." Really?? I ate my meal without anything to drink and never saw a waitress. But I was forced to give her a 20% tip since it was already added to my bill. They had the audacity to have an extra space on the ticket to add an additional tip. Of course I put a zero there! I could have overlooked bad service if I had not been forced to pay 20% for service that I did not receive. Very very poor management that would gouge customers in this way. No wonder the wait staff does nothing. They don't have to. They know they're getting a tip for doing nothing. I'm a travel agent and I promise you I will share this experience with my clients that are planning to visit Rockefeller Center. Do not go there!

We came for lunch and each had the club sandwich (came with fries). Came with an aioli and I added Dijon mustard. Was a giant sandwich, more fries that I should have eaten. It was surprisingly reasonable for such a high rent area and comfortable seating so we had zero complaints! The turkey was great quality, lots of avocado; a very tasty sandwich. All and all, one of only two great reviews in our six day visit. FYI- I'm originally from NYC and worked in midtown so have a basis of comparison. Not easy to find a nice yet affordable place at 30 Rock that you can sit and eat a decent meal!
If you're dining near Rockefeller Center, expect overpriced
If you're dining near Rockefeller Center, expect overpriced meals. There wasn't too much to choose from, but the menu was very varied, with chicken to short rib to even oysters. The Calamari ($15) is a must get. I don't think I tasted the squid as prominent as I do here, as the squid is usually minimal and/or covered in way too much batter. I got the Fish & Chips ($29), which was nothing like what you normally associate them to look like. Both my fish and fries were crisp to the CORE. There's a very oily taste to the fish, which makes it fragrant to eat, but can get heavy after a while. And the just as crispy abundant fries didn't help in aiding me to finish. It was cool and convenient to eat right inside the Rockefeller Center, but don't expect much from the food and most definitely the price!

Good Afternoon. It looks like you have requested a name transfer for Carbone NY. Unfortunately, this is one of the restaurants that is almost impossible to do name changes for. They don’t accept phone calls so they are difficult to change the reservations that were booked online.
