Delicious!
Delicious!!! Great service and a fun atmosphere. The food steals the show and the fondue is amazing - always have to come here when in Aspen
Be the first to ReplyCould have been unforgettable
Nice food in a small and very unique place in its decoration - perhaps a bit cluttered - with the criticism that the tables are very close together, and the customers seated close to you have to ask for the table to be moved in order to get up from their seats. Expensive. The staff's attention is average and doesn't stand out for friendliness, and even when serving the wine, the manner was not correct, something that should be learned in a place of such level.

We ate extremely well in Aspen but this was my pick. Every dish was faultless and incredibly tasty. The best French onion soup that you will ever eat. Don’t miss the crepes for dessert
Be the first to ReplyWorth every centimeter of this tiny restaurant
Ultra tiny restaurant, but with a truly french ambiance…. I felt like in WW II underground place… dim lights, french old music, few tables, packed with people….and amazing food….. everything is sooooo good!! You must try it!

Everyone we asked recommended French Alpine Bistro- and it did not disappoint! Juan took great care of us! The food was amazing, atmosphere was best in Aspen, and the service was unsurpassed! Don’t miss this!!
Be the first to ReplyShocking customer service from the hostess team
Unfortunately, we did not have the best experience at French Alpine Bistro. We saved this dining experience for our last night in Aspen, as we had heard it was supposed to be a special restaurant. We took our time exploring the menu, starting with cocktails and French onion soup. We later ordered the fondue, which was delicious. There was an extremely rude hostess (blonde/brown hair, wearing an orange turtleneck on Saturday 10/7) that cleared our fondue dishes. We told her we would like to talk with our server, Emiliano (who was fabulous), and order the Midnight in Paris because it had come highly recommended. She announced loudly that "your table was for 1 hr and 45 minutes and you have been here over two hours. We need to give your table to another guest and you cannot order dessert". There is nothing on the website that mentions a time limit and we were never informed of a time limit upon checking in for our reservation. Furthermore, this reservation was made by the concierge team at the St. Regis Aspen, who was also never notified of a time limit. I told her that this was a special weekend trip for my mother, and that we were excited to order the Midnight in Paris as it was recommended from a prior manager of the French Alpine Bistro (Bradley). She said she would need to speak to the manager and get back to us. She never returned. Five minutes later, a dessert showed up on our table. We felt extremely uncomfortable, ate our dessert and left as soon as we could pay the bill. The servers were lovely but we will never forget the way we were treated or made to feel by this particular hostess. As patrons of many fine dining establishments, we have never been treated this way before. We would have respected a time limit if we had been informed, but we were never made aware and then shamed into leaving as soon as possible in front of other guests (the outside patio is quite small). We returned to our hotel and told the concierge team at the St. Regis and they were stunned. They then asked if the dessert was comped, we said no. They were speechless. We are happy to pay in full, but no one came over to even apologize for this individual's behavior. It put a damper on our last evening and we will not be returning or recommending this restaurant to our many friends that frequent Aspen, as well as will be writing an email to the concierge team at the St. Regis to no longer advise their guests to dine there.
Be the first to ReplyCramped, rushed dinner, poor food, decent service, over priced
Rushed us through 2 courses in 45mins, couple next to us had just been served as we finished. Food poor, we both had a thick gloopy French onion soup and bland coq au vin consisting of a quarter of slimy chicken, more overly thick sauce, small portion of mash and one slice of carrot for $58 a serving! I know Aspen is v expensive but I really did not think this worth anything like the money.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic bistro!
This is a wonderful little French bistro tucked in downtown Aspen. The ambience filled with fun eclectic decor makes the amazing dishes that much sweeter! You can sit out with heaters and plush blankets or have a cozy spot inside.
Be the first to ReplyBirthday Celebration
We were welcomed to this cozy romantic restaurant with a glass of champagne to celebrate our birthdays. This was a nice touch as most restaurants don't pay attention to the extras in online bookings. We had the fondue with charcuterie, and it was amazing and so filling we didn't end up ordering a main course. They have an excellent wine list, and our server was fantastic. He helped us pick our pistachio crepe dessert, and it was so good we wished we had room for another one! Overall, it was a really great experience and we will return!
Be the first to ReplyAspen’s Best Restaurant
We tried this restaurant last fall and were impressed, so it was our first stop on our annual visit to Aspen this year. We certainly weren’t disappointed! Our server, Amy, did a great job, and we loved the Moules-Mariniére (the mussels were delicious). The Big Apple (Crêpe with caramelized apple, Calvados, a touch of cinnamon, topped with crunchy almond-walnut streusel and vanilla bean ice-cream) is a terrific dessert. We’re returning for my wife’s birthday. Highly recommend!
Be the first to ReplyGreat fondue
The restaurant is very small and as people enter and leave the cold wind blasts through. Kind of disappointing to pay the high prices and have to wear your winter coat just so you don't freeze. Food was great, service mediocre. Had much better dining experience at other restaurants in town.
Be the first to ReplyAspen treat
This is a small restaurant that serves good, authentic French bistro food. Prices were reasonable for Aspen, service was great, and the overall atmosphere was welcoming and friendly.

Do not go Over whelming pressure to order and leave $400 later on her 40th wedding anniversary multiple charges for a wine we did not have ??? Aspen
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food, atmosphere and service!
The French Alpine Bistro has excellent food and warm Swiss mountain chalet atmosphere. The fondu, French onion soup, gnocchi, wagu burger, and dessert crepes were all superb! The service is also top notch! The space is a little small but it is well worth putting up with being a little cramped.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing food, service, and atmosphere
The food and service were absolutely amazing! The decor was also amazing, very small and cozy room. The food itself was DIVINE! If you are there the Fondue is an absolute must have! But if your in a tight food budget this place will clean out your wallet. But the food is worth the price.
Be the first to ReplyLovely lunch in Aspen
We enjoyed a leisurely lunch at the Alpine Bistro. The food was tasty but not quite as extraordinary as we’ve enjoyed on prior visits. The ambiance very relaxing. Our server was very attentive without being intrusive. All in all, it was a very nice experience.
Be the first to ReplyOnly OK
Cute place and good people watching from the outdoor tables. Service was very slow and the quiche was overcooked, tough crust and the filling cooked through and dry, no custardy texture. The vegetable crepe was ok. Seems very overpriced but it is Aspen. . .
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and ambiance
We tried brunch and ordered the cheese fondue (Melted Gruyère, Vacherin, Beaufort & Comté, white wine, touch of Kirschwasser, served w/ warm crispy bread, apple slices and small pickles). It was delicious, and our waiter, Benjamin, was excellent. We’ve already made a dinner reservation for early next week.
Be the first to ReplyGreat lunch.
We had a delicious meal with very good service. . It was not hurried, they were not snooty. It was perfect. We split a salad, my husband had the sausage and sauerkraut sandwich with potato salad, and I had the quiche Lorraine with a side salad. We split the apple crepe for dessert with vanilla ice cream. Will definitely go back for dinner. Lovely ambiance with nice soft background music.

We had a wonderful meal at this restaurant with fantastic attentive service. Not over bearing at all. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back. We had the gnocchi and beef bourguignon. Best meal we had during our Aspen visit.
Be the first to ReplyGood food - but rushed service
We came early and the restaurant was not crowded. Enjoyed the foie gras, salad and the beef bourguignon. The star was the foie gras. Service was very rushed and thus we did not enjoy the meal as much as we should have for the price. Glad I visited once, but probably not again. Tables are a little crowded, but the interior is nice (rustic).

loved the atmosphere, felt authentic with excellent french food, and a super atmosphere and staff. We dined inside while it was snowing and it seemed magical. Would recommend ensuring you have your ride coming to pick you up or make sure you know shuttle times.
Be the first to ReplyLovely meal – perfect on a winter trip to Aspen
On a recent trip to Aspen, my wife and I had dinner at French Alpine Bistro, after dining there last year and really enjoying the food and the atmosphere. If you want to feel like you’re dining in a wintry, cozy setting, this restaurant is perfect.
I do find it a bit annoying that this restaurant doesn’t seem to release their full restaurant availability on OpenTable when reservations open up. I went to make a reservation on the first day that our date was open to reserve, and only reservations around 5:00 and 9:00 were available. I emailed the restaurant to see if they had anything a bit more in the middle (which is what they tell you to do with reservation inquiries), and I never received any response. I ended up calling the restaurant and eventually got through to someone who was very nice and quickly switched us to a 7:30 reservation when I inquired. It seems that it’s not necessarily hard to get a better time, but you have to make extra effort and can’t just book it online.
The restaurant is very tiny, located sort of at an underground/basement level relative to the street. They also have a separate dining structure set up along the street, which has a much more enclosed, permanent feel than similar structures that were built by many restaurants during the pandemic. With a standard indoor dining reservation, you may end up having dinner in either location. When we arrived for our reservation, we were taken right to the outdoor structure. We ate in this same location when we came to the restaurant last year, and found that they still haven’t figured out climate control in there, as it was incredibly hot for the second year in a row. They have tons of heaters, to the point that it’s almost unbearably hot. At one point during our meal, another table asked if the heaters could be turned off for a while, which helped. It started to get a little cold once the heaters were totally off, so they were turned back on a bit later. It does seem to help to rotate them on and off to avoid a continuously stifling atmosphere.
Our server for the evening was very nice, and he was attentive, helpful, and pleasant throughout. We also really appreciate that the restaurant has a very nice French-focused wine list, where there were multiple options we found appealing. The wine selections are well-curated and generally high quality. We ended up getting a bottle of a red Chateauneuf-du-Pape to share, which was pricey, but really good and from a winery we know and enjoy.
Food-wise, we started with sharing a plate of the raclette, which we loved. We had never had raclette and understand that it’s usually served with a small grill to cook things yourself, but this one was a fully prepared plate of boiled potatoes, caramelized onions, and some charcuterie with raclette cheese melted on top. Pieces of baguette were offered on the side for dipping. It was really tasty, and I liked the presentation with everything ready to eat. The cheese was excellent and went well with everything on the plate. We’d highly recommend getting this as an appetizer, or it could work as an entrée too.
For entrées, we tried the moules-mariniere and duck cassoulet, both of which were excellent. The portions were generous in both cases. The mussels were in a really lovely creamy broth, which was thicker and tastier than the usual thin broth you get with most mussels. I had never had duck cassoulet in the past, but thought that was a really excellent dish for a cold winter night. It’s a classic French dish, basically a stew of beans and vegetables and a piece of duck on top. The duck was prepared perfectly and the taste was really nice.
For dessert, we split the Midnight in Paris crepe. We had the crepe before and knew we loved it, filled with crème brulée custard. It’s a really nice end to the meal and completes the theme of French and French-inspired cuisine quite well.
I’m really glad we returned to French Alpine Bistro this year, since it was definitely one of our favorite meals from our trip to Aspen. We were very happy with the quality of the food and the service. It’s a really cozy place that executes their dinner service well, with a great menu and wine list.
Great atmosphere inside - Food and service is excellent and friendly
If you dine inside, you feel like you are skiing in Europe and dining in one of those great on mountain "finds". Food is French and heavy - even the salad (Chaud salad) was accompanied by bread with brie. But, one should expect this from a french restaurant. Onion soup was amazing. Great wines. Highly recommend
