Friend Of A Farmer New York Reviews from The Last Year
Food was tasty although nothing extraordinary.
A bit pricey for what you get. Services and ambiance excellent though. Antonio the waiter was attentive, friendly, just on it.
Went there today.
Food was very good the waiter Adam was excellent. Great job. Thank you... we will be back
Great ambiance, it's a rustic farmhouse setting in NYC.
..HOWEVER, the service was meh and the food quality did not align with the high prices. It's a great Sunday brunch meeting spot, but be prepared to be underwhelmed and over pay for your meal. My last visit was almost 29 years ago and it was completely different experience then. There are too many great brunch places with high quality food and service in NYC, pass on this one.

Came here for lunch with a friend and thankfully we had a reservation because there was a long line for a table when we got there. I ordered the southwestern wrap and it came with a side of homefries. It was pretty underwhelming overall and not very warm when I got it. A few of the bites of the wrap were just straight sour cream and it had plain avocado in it instead of guacamole which I think would have added more flavor. I asked our server for some hot sauce to go with it, but she didn't come back until I was almost completely done with my food. Pretty average meal for $19 and service was just fine, think it was my fault for not ordering something more popular from the menu. My friend got a salad with shrimp and it looked pretty good.
Solid brunch everytime.
Great pancakes. Friendly service. I also love that's a converted town home it feels so cozy.

I went there with my friends for brunch and there was a line outside, so we had to wait a bit. The inside has a nice vibe and the lighting is not bad if you are seated by a window like we were. They also brought us complimentary cornbread with apples, which was nice. I do feel like the food in general was kind of bland though. Probably not going to go back to eat there but it was an enjoyable experience.

To start off with the positives, the atmosphere is really nice and the seasonal hibiscus lemonade cocktail was very good. The food, however, was disappointing. I ordered a steak and I found it bland with close to no seasoning (I think it was the first time I have ever asked for seasoning at a restaurant to add to my steak) and it was very over seared giving it a burnt unpleasant taste and a tough, overcooked texture. The steak I got would have been disappointing at a Chili's, at a higher-end restaurant, which we only went to for a special event, and where the steak is 60 dollars it is very disappointing. My partner's short rib was good (don't know if it was 43 dollars good), but the sides that we both got were bland. It's a cute spot so maybe its brunch is good, but I would definitely not go for dinner.
Horrible.
Horrible. Horrible. Rude lady at the front. Won't ever go back. Everyone always says how bad this place is- just good for the decor.

SO AMAZING LOVE THIS PLACE! We got the breakfast special and then some lemonade on the side. The house cornbread that comes as the appetizer was amazing with butter - one of my fav brunch spots in the city for sure

Came here for brunch on a Sunday with 2 friends and we couldn't make reservations on a Sunday so we did walk in and got immediately seated which was great. I think because it was raining it was less packed, but the upstairs area is huge! My one complaint is that the menu is a bit limited and pricey but still found things we liked. They gave us a complimentary cornbread with apple sauce on top which was good, the bread was a bit too flaky. My friend got the vegan pot pie and another got the chocolate chip pancakes (this wasn't on the menu but they were able to make it). The pancakes were super delicious and rich, the pot pie was creamy and had a ton of veggies. I got the farmer omelette but took out the cheese and replaced it with tomatoes. So I got a spinach, mushroom, tomato omelette and it was honestly so delicious and had so many vegetables. I added hollandaise sauce, and the potatoes were so flavorful and yummy! The service was super attentive and helpful as well.
A nice Christmas Day meal - without the festivities!!
We went here on Christmas Day for dinner - the food was great as was the service but not very Christmassy! I would have thought more effort would be made for a Christmas Day meal especially as we were with our children! The food was fab - great flavours and very well cooked! Very large portions as well!
Delicious breakfast
Fabulous breakfast! We had the Omelettes, Scrambled egg with buttermilk pancakes and Eggs Benedict. Absolutely delicious, fantastic quality cooked to order.
Two out of three not bad.
Nice cool atmosphere in a leafy covered annex in front of the restaurant. Good quality food - we had brunch and the sausages and pancakes were first rate. Service was surly and offhand. This was the luck of the draw as other serving staff were pretty engaging. Would come again and hope we won the server lottery.
Eggs Benedict on House Made Cheddar Biscuits - SO GOOD!
This restaurant was an absolute delight! It is on a lovely street, classy outdoor seating is available, and the interior of the restaurant transports you out of the city and into a country home. There are beautiful fireplaces and many striking and interesting decor to look at. French jazz was playing, but not so loud that you couldn’t have a conversation comfortably. The restaurant was spotless, service was quick (lunch on a summer Monday – no reservations needed) and attentive. The best part… the food was delicious!!! I had the eggs benedict on house made cheddar biscuits and enjoyed every bite. I immediately texted friends and family about how much I enjoyed my Friend of a Farmer experience and I hope to visit again soon.

Prepaid Reservation Fee

When you sell a reservation that has a prepaid fee AT takes a commission on that fee. This doesn’t really make sense because it’s an expense the seller incurs not part of the profit that is shared.
For example:
Carbone NYC fee to book table for 2 is $108.88
If you sell it for $200 on AT you get $140 from them.
Your net profit is $31 and AT collects $60 in fees.
It would make more sense not to charge commission on the upfront fee as this creates a disincentive and results in higher costs for buyers.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
