Since Galit was awarded a Michelin star for 2022, we thought it was time for a return visit to this modern Israeli restaurant. We're glad we went. Now they offer only a 4-course tasting meal but you still get choices. They start you off w/ one of 3 hummus plus fluffy house-made pita, nicely charred and warm from their oven, together with 4 small dishes of salatim. These are small dishes of various spreads, pickled vegetables and labneh to combine (or not) and eat with the pita. Then they bring mezzes, one per diner, which are warm appetizers. Out of 6 choices we selected foie gras filled blintzes w/ blueberry compote and slivered almonds plus the Iraqi kubbeh halab (minced lamb w/ currants in a deep fried ball with a crunchy saffron infused crust). There were 2 of each to share. Then you get a small main course from the coal fired grill. We chose Tangier sausage and Armenian pastrami. The pastrami came with a Yemeni flatbread the was flaky and layered like strudel dough. Finally one dessert to share. We arrived around 6 pm and were immediately seated. We'd reserved seats at the kitchen counter facing the action. Service was cordial and very smooth, Our waitress Lauren checked on us at intervals to make sure we had everything we need and were pleased with our selections. As each dish was brought, the runner announced the ingredients in them and, if asked, offered advice on how best to eat them. On a week night, though it filled up, there were a few empty seats and the noise level was not too loud. It was an ample meal. We left full and happy with two wrapped cookies they handed us with the check to take home. They charge $68 per person + an "optional" 5% fee to cover employee health insurance. With drinks, tax and tip, it was close to $220 for the two of us. Not cheap but fair, we thought. Parking is scarce; it's best to take public transit, cab or ride-share. They are still checking to make sure patrons are vaccinated though they have relaxed the mask requirement for guests. Staff all wear them.
