Very nice
Was our best meal in San Fran. Not only was the food great but it had the best service I have ever had. Peter was our main server and he was very personable, attentive, and not over bearing. The entire staff was polite, helpful, and made us feel truly special. Would absolutely recommend.

Highlight: Free selection of courses and professional service. The price of your meal is decided by the number of courses you order. You can make any combination. My friend orders the tasting menu and I choose the 3 courses if risotto, duck brest, and souffle. We did not make reservation and came before 9 p.m . Luckily we got seated and spent a wonderful night with Gary Danko. Everyone dressed formly so we were worried if there is a dress code here. The waiter smiled and told us that our comfortableness is their goal of service. It is really sweet.

Visited SF 1/2023 and chose Gary Danko for a special evening out. Service was truly excellent. Attentive but not intrusive staff and we never felt rushed. We solicited and were given several helpful suggestions as we navigated the menu and drinks. Food was definitely good but typically missing the precision one would expect at this level of dining. Brioche was well-presented but bland. Tart flavor good but crust too firm and was a little difficult to eat. Beef was nice and cooked properly but nothing unique. The accompanying potatoes were the best aspect of the dish. The salmon medallion was equally well-cooked but relatively bland despite the horseradish preparation. Dessert was by far the finest aspect of the meal. The soufflรฉ was simply perfect and the baked Alaska was excellent as well. Overall an enjoyable evening but had hoped the flavors would have been more remarkable

Service was exceptional, made to feel welcome from start to finish.Wine menu is a bit daunting, but it has a great range of wine and champagne. Food itself was excellent,we had a fantastic experience at Gary Danko and would certainly recommend it if you enjoy fine dining.

We dined at Gary Danko for our anniversary following a recommendation from the concierge at the Ritz Carlton. It is a bit pricey but very much worth it, if you are looking for a first-class dining experience. The staff are excellent. Very attentive and looking after every need. The menu has great selections and the choice of either a three, four or five course dinner makes good sense. All the dishes were prepared and presented perfectly. Three memorable dishes for us were the risotto, the lobster salad and the duck. This was the best dining experience we had in quite a while and certainly will be recommended by us to others.

Service and food are always excellent. We love the 3, 4, or 5 course option. The 3 course works best for us. There is also a fixed menu option.

We were very much looking forward to this special event to celebrate my husbandโs birthday dinner. Gary Danko โ a MICHELIN Star restaurant: supposedly noted for โHigh quality cooking, worth a stop!โ My husbandโs choice was the 5 Course fixed menu. I chose the 4 Course a la carte selection. He was not that impressed with his meal. I was very disappointed with mine. The lobster was tough and scallops smelled โfishyโ as when fish is not fresh. My lamb was under cooked and I had them take it back to cook some more. I still had a hard time to slice it. Whole evening was very uncomfortable and I could not wait to leave. The service was good as they tried; however, one woman came to the table twice to served a dish speaking with such a thick French accent that we could not understand her at all. I was joking to my husband, is this the French presentation. I was wondering how does Michelin evaluate these restaurant when giving out their โstarsโ? For the food I ate I would definitely would not have rated it a Michelin star restaurant.

Hugely disappointing - this restaurant is clearly resting on its laurels. While the service was excellent, everything else was subpar. Our food seemed more like high end banquet food than fine dining. Everything came out lukewarm and several of the side dishes did not seem entirely fresh. I felt slightly ill after leaving which lasted until the morning. Do yourself a favor and save your money for restaurant that will make more of an effort!

Exceptional service and incredible food. We had a great team dinner in one of the private rooms. Perfectly orchestrated by very professional staff.

It was a really good dining experience. Food was really good. My wife and I shared plates as most couples do and we both found that our main entrees were on the cold side. Granted we were a party of 6 but we did expect a place with a star to be able to serve the food while still hot.
Still good food and good service. They even sent us home with a baked good which was delicious.
It Just Doesnโt Get Any Better Than This
Gary Danko remains our favorite restaurant any where. From the moment we entered until we were escorted outside, we received the warmest attention from consummate professionals. And the food! The ultimate in delicious! The decor is beautiful, but not overstated. Great cocktails and excellent wine. A tasting menu is offered, in addition to the 3, 4, or 5 course a la carte option. We each enjoyed the 3 course. I always get the cheese as my 3rd course.

We were fortunate to get a seat here as a lovely end to our wedding celebrations.
Arrived, was seated at the bar and after a short wait our table was ready. The restaurant itself is small, intimate and a nice ambience. The staff were very attentive throughout the experience, and took the time to explain any queries we had, as well as hold polite conversation.
We opted for the 3 course tasting menu (which we then amended to 4 courses later), along with the wine tasting. A real positive here was that the courses could be multiple from the same section if preferred, rather than stipulating one appetizer, one main etc. Each dish was presented well, with a combination of flavours and textures. The wine paring was excellent, for someone like myself who is not a huge fan, I found it rather complimentary to the dish (was only the red I was 50/50 over). We also had some cocktails, which were equally delicious.
As it was a special occasion, they also gave some free gifts which was a lovely touch and explained they'd been closed for several months due to covid. The team appeared slightly nervous, and I assume it was due to them being 'rusty' - however they ensured the whole experience was fabulous so in time their confidence will continue to grow.
Pricing was reasonable for a Michelin star restaurant, and we look forward to returning on our travels.
This food was outstanding
Probably some of the best food I've had in a long long long long time. Easy to get to the restaurant. Wait staff very friendly, prices over quite reasonable.

Wonderful food accompanied by refined service makes this expensive experience worthwhile. This was our second visit and in the year between the two I might say it certainly did not loose a thing actually may have improved.
