The best meal of our entire holiday!
This restaurant ticks all of the boxes if you are looking for quality Japanese cuisine. We were most satisfied with the range of food available to us, and the attention of the professional staff. Excellent!

I went here without a booking. The staff were attentive. I had good service, delicious food, in a nice atmosphere. Reasonable price considering location. The sashumi was good

We should have turned tail and run when we had to wait 5 minutes for our entry to be acknowledged and allocated a seat. We chose to sit in the Japanese style section which was clean and pleasant. It took 30 minutes for our order to be taken and there were only 2 other couples in the restaurant when we arrived. Our shared entree came out - deep fried tofu - and this was a great start to our meal after waiting so long. In the meantime, another couple were seated and their order taken within 5 minutes and their drinks and entree arrived shortly thereafter. Mean while my daughters main meal - vegan sushi platter - arrived. Not as good as the pictures we had seen which had a selection of sushi, nigiri, asparagus and tempura. Instead, this was mainly tempura vegetables on rice with one nigiri. It was lukewarm only so my daughter decided to wait and wait and wait until my main arrived. I queried where our main was and asked for more water. In the meantime, the other couple had three mains delivered including one they couldn’t remember ordering (guess what - it was mine). The waitress apologised and said they would not be charged for the extra meal. I told them I no longer wanted my main and started to share with my daughter. Surprise, surprise it arrived now I did not want it and all they offered me was a free glass of wine. Extremely disappointing.

We visited on Boxing Day based on recommendations from this website but were overwhelmingly disappointed. Expensive and service was poor. Very slow the whole Dinner took 3 hours. Missed a few dishes and yet appeared on the bill. Waiters were racist, only attended to westerners. We are Asians, when we asked to order or additional assistance, we were ignored even when asking face to face, having lived in Australia my whole life I never encountered such racism . Food was poor.

Service was poor but I never rate on service if food is good. It was not. Sashimi had raw prawn and grey and black edged tuna. Menu limited. Definitely not value for money. Avoid.
Be the first to ReplyBirthday dinner
Hi, made a booking for my partners birthday. First of all couldn’t even remember that my booking was for a birthday, so no mention from any staff members regarding birthday. Staff were so unfriendly couldn’t barely even talk. Paid $167 for dinner which was so overpriced for the meals we received. Ordered a small sushi nigiri boat which was $40 and had 8 pieces of sushi on it. It was the worst nigiri boat I have ever had. Then we ordered two mains which were salmon and a scotch fillet both theses were around $60 each. It was so average. This is not a classy Japanese restaurant. Our meals didn’t even have rice and no one offered us rice. Japanese with out rice.🤔 If you want a good priced and fantastic food checkout out Yuki in the hills. Fantastic Japanese with great service and exquisite food. But if you feel like going to the worst Japanese in the darkest dodgy area just of hindley street go for it. You will be disappointed. 8 pieces of sushi, two average mains for $167🤮

We ordered the 8 course set menu & was disappointed with the food. The seared tuna was precooked so when it was served it was cold & solid. There were noodles with broth & scollops. Scollops were lovely but the noodles with broth were cold. The steak was chewy, fatty & has a strange flavor. Online the 8 course pictures look amazing. This was not what we experienced. I gave the stars for the staff & setting. Loved the traditional setting. However the staff didn’t speak English very well so could not get an idea of what food we were getting in the set menu. They said it was the chef selection.

A good experience, well located in the city and boasting good service. The menu was extensive, offering good quality Japanese Cuisine.

We were looking forward to this, but unfortunately came away with a less than satisfactory impression. The food was ok but what really let the side down was the lack lustre service. We had to remind staff no less than three times for the lack of drinks we ordered at the beginning of our experience. They finally arrived at the near completion of our dinner. Our orders were taken, only for staff to return to the table to let us know what we had ordered wasn’t available. This included water, wine and food that were listed on the menu. During our visit one table’s entire order had not arrived, the disgruntled guests complained after waiting for over 2 hours and were basically told to leave. Management did nothing to rectify the problem and essentially blamed the customer for being upset. Sorry but that kind of attitude instilled zero confidence in our repeat business. $250 for a dinner for two with no bottled water available, no Riesling and staff not able to communicate dishes and beverages that had sold out on a small menu isn’t good enough.
Be the first to ReplyTasty but pricey
After mixed reviews about this restaurant, we were willing to give it a shot recently. First impressions, the venue is relaxing and well suited to this style of food, especially the area at the back where the decore is more traditional of Japan. Service was also friendly and attentive.
We decided on a section of entrees, as we wanted to try a variety of things. Food was pleasantly quick to come out, mind you, we were booked for the time the restaurant opens so only a handful of other tables were occupied.
The sashimi was fresh and good quality, and the oysters were also very tasty. It's hard to get tempura veggies wrong, and we also tried the tiger prawn/calamari combo.
Overall, there was no dish that lets us down, and we came away feeling we'd had more than enough food. However, as others have indicated already the prices are on the higher end for this style of food. Add a bottle of wine to these 4 entrees and there wasn't much change out of $200 for 2 people. Any regrets? Not really, but I can say we've had the same quality elsewhere for a lot cheaper.
Terrible experience on price and food
We had a look online menu before booking. However, when we got there and found out the price had been almost doubled. All main courses were expensive and quite tiny, and even a bottle of spring water cost $15 . We were told that we could take the bottle home since the bottle was included. Is the restaurant selling food or bottles? We were surprise how the restaurant rate was 4.1 star. I would recommend people go elsewhere.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing
We eat out a fair bit (especially Japanese or Asian fusion) and aren’t fussy, but Ginza was incredibly disappointing. We were celebrating a special milestone and so we’d planned to go for the eight course menu option to celebrate. Which exact meals would be offered in the eight options weren’t listed anywhere, and when we asked the (otherwise polite) waitress didn’t know any of the dishes—-sashimi and “dumplings” were mentioned (we decided just to go ahead, which was maybe our mistake) but neither of these arrived. The food itself was incredibly underwhelming. Flavourless and tiny portions. One of the eight courses was simply a scoop of sorbet, which we both agreed was pretty surprising and further disappointing. We left quite hungry. The sake was nice, and service was quietly polite, but you can get nice sake and good service at most of Adelaide’s Japanese restaurants. For $128 each for the eight courses, we really truly wish we’d dined elsewhere.

Food was sensational, I chose the degustation 4 course menu. I wasn’t disappointed with the food or the service would definitely go there again when next in Adelaide!

I eat out a lot and generally roll with the punches. Place calls itself Japanese...no edamame, v limited menu. Ordered and ate some very tired sashimi, gave up before finishing . Staff trying, and v pleasant, but a very ordinary feed. Best part of $80 for entree sashimi and a couple of beers. Look elsewhere.
Be the first to ReplyOne of our favourite sushi restaurants
This is one of our favourite sushi and sashimi restaurants as we can be confident of getting really fresh food. For this particular dinner, we had a craving for sushi and sashimi, and as it was only 2 of us, we decided on the premium entree platter which gives you 9 varieties from the entree menu chosen by the chef and the large sushi boat that offered a variety of sushi and sashimi. We enjoyed this immensely as the combo gave us a variety of items with plenty for 2 not very big appetites.
Service was good as usual. We will be back, also as usual.
Sukiyaki sucks
We love sukiyaki and have had it all over the world. This was the worst I’ve had. Flavourless. And the meat was cut too thick. And bowl was small - not great for sharing. And over-priced on top of it. Staff were friendly enough but fairly average.
I would be wary of trusting the Trip Advisor rating - as they offer free Sake for providing a rating!
Great value
Visited for a "parents night out" dinner on a Friday night. It was very enjoyable! We had never even heard of this place until we saw it on the Entertainment Book app. Thought we would give it a go, even though we were a bit confused how it can still be open being attached to a medi-hotel! Ended up being no problems with that though, the entry is completely separate to hotel entry.
We were seated by the window which was lovely and promptly served. Both entre and main meals were divine! Would highly recommend the tuna tartare for entre, just beautiful! Wine list was small but this was not an issue as it made it easier to decide. Staff were very attentive also.
With the entertainment book voucher the dinner was very reasonable value. Worth giving this place a try!
Sensational food
My husband has eaten here on many occasions while on business trips however this was a first for me. The food was exceptional. Presentation perfect and each dish was succulent, tasty and fresh. Fiona was a perfect hostess. Definitely returning in the future

It is located in the Stamford hotel. Independent stairs from the street. Setting is OK. Degustation menu is ordinary. Wine list was uninteresting. Staff was friendly.
