Delicious but…
Restaurant was quiet the night I was there, when we arrived the service felt a little slow /confused for this calibre of restaurant. As the night progressed it is clear the service is excellent and the young man articulating each dish is impressive. But it does lack warmth. I had scallop starter, amazing. Texture and flavour, wow. I had to slow myself down to enjoy it and then didn’t want to leave any drops of flavour in the plate. Turbot and lobster main was good, lobster roll especially. Turbot and plate garnish were not as interesting as I expected… Strawberry dessert was delicious full stop, I almost licked the plate. 5 stars because it would be unfair to classify this as 4 star food, but there are things that can be improved. Rob.

We were staying at the Fitzwilliam on our first night in Ireland and booked the rerstaurant for convenience but had a great surprise. The service and food are excedlent. We also had breakfast, equally as good.
Be the first to ReplyCome back Michelin, you forgot to give them the 2nd star!
Amazing menu brought to life by a great team of waiting staff. The aromas, the presentation, the flavours, the decor & ambience - all absolutely first class! Enjoyed the tasting menu from start to finish and have to say it’s impressed me more than other 2 ** menus I’ve had. Would 100% recommend and we will definitely be back!
Be the first to ReplyA real treat from start to finish - faultless.
I was a little nervous this restaurant would be stuffy and pretentious, being a Michelin Starred establishment , I need’nt have been. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. Relaxed but with everything under precise control and staff waiting on your every need. On seating we were asked of any allergies or dietary requirements. I advised that I don’t eat meat but do eat fish and was correctly identified as a pescatarian. We had booked for lunch, for starters I had the asparagus and my wife the celeriac with foie gras. I was concerned with the size of the portions (Will we need a visit to a fast food establishment on the way home? We didn’t). Every morsel was a delight. The flavour, the combination, the presentation all worked in harmony. For mains I had the John Dory and my wife the squab. Both were works of art and gastronomic delights. The whole meal was a symphony of oos and aahs! The food deliver on every level. No I didn’t have to loosen my belt, no the plate wasn’t heaving with food but it left us thrilled and satisfied. I was recommended a white wine and was delighted I took the advice, a Czech wine both crisp and full of flavour. We began our food journey with melt in the mouth savoury meringues as an amuse bouche and a pair of onion and cheddar ultra light and delicate tartlets and bookended our meal with a cheese course. The cheese selection was wonderful with melt in the mouth made in house crackers. (I hate restaurants that serve made in-house agricultural biscuits that are too course and lacking in flavour to enhance the cheese - these weren’t those). The cheese was at room temperature and perfectly ripe and those wonderful crackers along with relish and honey made it a great conclusion to our meal, but wait….. the great coffee that followed was served with petit fours to expire for. Two nougat and two chocolate that were made by angels. I am a fussy fecker but I couldn’t find fault with a single course, surroundings or service, it was a pure delight. Yes, but it cost a fortune I hear you say - well no. We have had substantially inferior meals for close on the cost of our meal in Glovers Alley. It was a special treat, yes, but as a treat it was well priced and value for money.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing, not a Michelin star experience.
Not sure how these guys have a Michelin star. From available service was poor, uncoordinated and generally frustrating. The wine choice is lack lustre with the choice of wine by the glass extremely poor. The food was ok but the delays in service and request for condiments taking longer than expected added a frustration that is not conducive to Michelin star experience. The bill was by far the quickest thing to arrive at our table. If you’re looking for a Michelin star experience, I wouldn’t recommend glovers alley.

After doing some research about where to eat on our upcoming trip to Dublin, we decided to book Glovers Alley, and we weren't disappointed! From the minute we walked through the door, you could feel the quality and ambience of the place. The staff were ultra attentive, especially our waiter Daiven. The Sommelier helped us choose a great bottle of wine (Chablis), and we opted for the tasting menu, with the extra cheese course. Daiven talked us through each course, he was very knowledgeable about the food and was keen to hear our feedback at the end of each course and the end of the meal. The highlight courses for us were the Squab Pigeon and Foie Gras (the Foie Gras was a supplement, but it was definitely worth having, it was delicious!!), our second favourite course was the last one which was a white chocolate mousse, with a round of milk chocolate and mango sorbet. By this point in the meal, we were getting quite full, so we were happy with how light, but tasty, it was! The cheddar cheese tart with chive powder that they served as petit four was also incredible and very morish, one each just was not enough. We are lucky enough to eat at quite a few Michelin star restaurants, and this is probably our second ever favourite! When considering the venue, atmosphere, service, wine, and, of course, the food, it just had everything and was a great all-rounder. We honestly could not fault our experience in the slightest.

A perfect place in the middle of Dublin for a nice meal. I had the vegetarian course. The food, presentation, service was excellent. Definitely worth the Michelin star and more.
Be the first to ReplyHow a Michelin star restaurant should be
From start to finish, the service, atmosphere and most of all, the food, was exquisite We opted for the lunch menu with a nice bottle of Chablis. The lamb is some of the best I have ever had. I will certainly be visiting again when back in the city. A must for anyone who Is in Dublin but I would recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment.

While in Dublin we wanted a special meal and we were not disappointed when we chose Glovers Alley. Its décor is nautical art deco. It is relaxed but attentive service. Our server was attentive when helping us select a wine with no upsell in the assistance. We selected a 3 course meal and all were well prepared and presented. As with all prefixed presentations it is expected that the table, not the individual selected the same number of courses. While there is bar service for the restaurant there is not a bar where one might enjoy a cocktail before the meal so best not arrive early for a bar experience. the tables for two where we were seated are a bit close and as it happened we started chatting with the couple at the next table who invited us for an after dinner drink at the Shelbourne. A plus for the meal.

Very minimalist place Place of design taste Place where the dishes arrive with a curiosity of the eyes first of all then the explosion of taste!!! a gentle treat….. where the delicacy of the products…. Very good game meat….the Wine remains eternally French….. top organic wine..!! Anyway, a moment. To do
Be the first to ReplyGreat spot!
It’s definitely a more chilled out fine dining restaurant. The tasting menu was good. Very subtle flavours overall, nothing was particularly amazing but still a great place. I went for the Classic wine pairing where every wine was delicious. The only thing that’s missing is the cheese. No cheese board to finish is a shame. The service was great and would happily come back

A great meal, the food was impeccable. Each course was tasty and filling. Their signature bread was a must, (we even asked for more). As we were a later table, the beginning felt a little rushed - canapés served before drinks for example, but it slowed to a great pace and was thoroughly enjoyed. The team were great, service friendly and unobtrusive. Would recommend to anyone looking for a great meal.

Picked this restaurant for our Valentine’s dinner. The art deco pink, green, gold and wood decor looked like it would make a lovely environment for what should be the most romantic dinner of the year, and the French tyre brigade have dropped a nod on them too. We had a great dinner. Dill, Mustard, and Hazelnuts with beetroot was excellent and paired up perfectly with a buttery yeasty champagne. The Dublin bay prawn with squash and maple syrup just super tasty and a technical feat to not overwhelm the flavour of the prawn. Both 3* quality for us. My partners highlight was the unapologetically “meat and 2 veg” braised short rib of beef, she’s a sucker for a Sunday roast, not to detract from what was an unctuous, rich and decadent dish. The Barolo it was paired with was perfect - dry enough to cut through with lots of cherry jam flavour. Blood orange palate cleanser, perfect for the role…. Dessert was nice - white chocolate has never been my favourite but the technical skill and balance of the dish were obvious. The service was immaculate and topped of with a bit of banter too! Great dinner. Our thanks to all

Visited glovers alley as a Christmas treat and boy was it that. The food and service was impeccable. We sat and talked about the food for the whole duration of our stay which says it all really. The waiters were like dancers how they moved around I was amazed. The restaurant decor was fab also reminded me of bring on a ship. Every bite was exceptional from the meals to the chefs snacks they bring out. It really was a great experience and I will absolutely visit again. It wasn't the cheesiest brunch we ever had but it was worth every penny. I have one tiny suggestion. If there was music we couldn't hear it. It was very very quiet I just feel music creates an ambience. But perhaps they do that with just their food. But would be nice to hear a relaxed piano playing in the back.
Be the first to ReplyOne surprising delight after another!
We ate in a number of Michelin one star restaurants in Ireland and this by far was the best of them. In fact, it was the best meal we had in our weeklong romp around Dublin and the Sunny southeast. Everything from the beautiful, creamy and imaginative chicken liver macaroons to the fabulous , thinly sliced beet tartar that enveloped a delightful package of savory goodness underneath. I’ll have to say that the presentation of the food took a very unusual direction - in a very delightful and creative way that still made everything look so appetizing that you would love to sink your fork into it as quickly as possible after marveling at it. The service was impeccably timed and highly attentive, with very attractive waiters descending upon your table to explain the next delectable dish that emerged from the busy kitchen. Loved this restaurant to bits - we took the seven course Glovers Classics and wish that we had a printed, more permanent reminder of the specific dishes we ate because every surprise dish that came before us reinforced more and more why this restaurant rightfully deserves its star.

Quite good. Very expensive. Had the taster menu, id need to get another mortgage out for the wine pairing. Girlfriends pigeon was ‘rarer’ than mine. So luck of the draw on that dish. I thought it was quite nice overall. End of the day- too expensive.

The best meal I have had in a long time. Excellent value for money. The portion size for a restaurant of this caliber was beyond what I expected. Everything about the experience is top class. The chef was very friendly and went around to each table introducing himself and offering people the chance to tour the kitchen. The deserts are also incredible. Look forward to going back.
Be the first to ReplySublime Meal at Glovers Alley
Our family had an early dinner here while in town to visit our son and it was definitely the best meal we had in Ireland. My husband is always weary of prix fixe menus, especially at Michelin Star restaurants, because he feels like you pay a premium and they don't offer as many choices or flexibility in ordering, but he loved Glovers Alley - the menu isn't large, but everything was superb and the staff was attentive and made us feel very welcome. We each had the 3 course menu - the suckling pig and the duck were standout favorites at the table but I think the star was the "tiramisu" desert, which is not really a tiramisu but oh my goodness it was great! I would definitely recommend this place for a special occasion or romantic dinner - it is pricey but the food didn't disappoint!

Terrific experience for sure. The tasting menu is really novel and we enjoyed it a lot, as was the great customer service. Highly recommended

One of the few michelin restaurants in dublin. At the fitzwilliams hotel next to St stephen’s green. A classy 1930s decor with a buzzy dining room. Choice of lunch or regular set menu. The 3 course lunch menu is plenty - dublin bay prawns, beef ribs, cheese. I was stuffed. The food is very good to excellent and so is the service
Be the first to ReplyGood food, cursing chef- keep your dishing out to the plates not staff
We were looking forward to trying Glovers Alley. Service was pleasant if quite slow at times. Menu was limited but all 4 of us found something we were happy with. Wine list wasn’t to my liking unless dropped €150+ a bottle. White was fine. Two of us ordered a glass of Pinot with our duck main- a minute a quite frankly pathetic pour. The real talking point of the night was the cursing, shouting & tirade of abuse being dishing out in the kitchen for the 6/7 tables at the back of the restaurant to listen to for 10mins +. This is not acceptable. Called manager over & talked to him- nice & apologetic. As a group we have dined in Chapter One, Patrick Guilbauds & several high end restaurants around Dublin but unfortunately our memory of Glovers will be tainted.
